It’s sad to think that Don Bluth stopped doing theatrical films after this movies release, here’s hoping someday he can make a comeback.

I've seen the world destroyed on so many occasions and so many media, but the loss of Earth in this film stuck with me throughout the years. Excellent film!

I used to have a DVD of this film. I was shocked to hear this movie was a failure. Bluth was doing so well after Anatasia only to quickly fall on his face shortly after. Don Bluth has had one of the greatest rises but one of the hardest falls I've ever seen. I don't think it's fair to blame the movie itself for its failure, there was a big animation transition to CGI at the time, and it was made for digital theaters when digital film was still a new thing. Ed Benlund who wrote Planet Ice was responsible for The Tick. (The infamous Joss Whedon also co-wrote the screenplay) Art Vitello was one of the guys responsible for Taz-Mania. I like the animation style of 2D characters with 3D objects, props, backgrounds, and effects. Blue Sky before Titan A.E. did VFX for live-action movies like Star Trek Insurrection, Fight Club, and Alien Resurrection. So sad that the movie that was supposed to save Fox Animation Studios only destroyed it. (Even sadder that everyone would be out of a job and the studio would shut down once the movie was over.)

I’ve never seen Titan AE but am interested in it. I wish that the sci-fi animation trend had kept going, with films like this, Treasure Planet, and Atlantis. They’re all so unique. Also love the Black Hole music used in this video.

Before editing this video, I have never seen Titan A.E. all the way. But after finally getting a chance to watch it, it's a solid 3/5. It's a good story with lots of plot holes and contrivances. But after hearing about the circumstances that led to the film's release, it makes a lot of sense. I feel bad for all of the animators in Phoenix, Arizona putting all their heart and soul into this film - knowing full well that the company would shut down. That reminds me of the musicians on the Titanic; they kept playing now matter what. And one more thing, my favorite scene in that film is the "Wake Angels" scene, where Cale drives the ship with the song - "It's My Time To Fly" by The Urge. It's a scene so powerful that I sprinkled scenes from that throughout the entire review. I even worked on a brief montage with voice clips by Don Bluth.

I usually compare it to that Final Fantasy movie, but I can definitely see HM 2000 too. Might as well group Treasure Planet and Atlantis in there too. Strange times for Sci fi.

@@godofwarhammer7655 Fun Fact: Some people compared the film's style to anime, but Bluth and Goldman denied any influence.

Don Bluth was so influential that he literally established the Irish animation industry and when he moved back to the States, it took Ireland years to recover. In the States at least, 2d animation studios could not compete with Disney anymore. And even Disney at that time decided to shut down their major TV animation studios in Australia, France, Japan and Canada.

This movie is gorgeous; one of my favourites aesthetically for this era. It looks so rich. I feel it must be said that, regardless of the story, *Fox* _and_ *WB* had legit talent making beautiful animated features around then. Between this, _Anastasia, Osomosis Jones, The Iron Giant,_ and even _Eight Crazy Nights,_ they created some incredible visuals and animation. It's a shame when genuinely good stuff gets buried in myths. I wasn't familiar with the background of this one, but it's got me intrigued to see it again.

I loved that era of animation too. Even Dreamworks made some great 2D classics such as The Prince of Egypt and El Dorado. They need to make another 2D film in the future.

@KawikaProductions I completely forgot about DreamWorks. 😅 Absolutely, though. _El Dorado_ is the only 2D film I've seen of theirs, but I adore it. Good vibes, beautiful art, nice story, incredibly catchy music, so much appeal. 😁

Its a shame Titan A.E didn't do well. I watch most of the Film and it wasn't THAT bad. Sure, maybe some people would think its somewhat a Star Wars clone, but its still not an awful Film.

I saw this and it was entertaining because it is something different, what is that 2:51 and 11:36 wait Don Bluth was going to do a Dracula movie? How about do a video on Tiny Toon Adventures characters like Shirley the Loon and those Disney parody characters that supposed to be like upper class schools that they have to compete against in football?

I remember seeing this film in the theater and I enjoyed it quite a bit. It’s not the greatest animated film, but it’s not horrendous as the box office failure may lead one to believe. When you look into the background of this film, it’s no wonder a lot was riding on this film. It’s a unique film that at the end of the day and it’s quite entertaining. Thank you for talking about this film and the history of it, keep up the great work!

I dont understand why this movie was a failure. Granted, I was 100% the demographic they were targeting back then (the male teen/tween that enjoyed action and sci-fi). I saw this in theaters a few times and owned it on VHS and DVD after renting it a bunch. I loved it back then and I still love it now. The smart guard bit is still one of my favorite scenes in a scifi movie. I'm glad people are rediscovering it, but it deserved this attention back then. I wish the setting would have the chance to be explored more. I really enjoyed it. #justiceforplanetbob

Three reasons, the marketing wasn't great. Two the trailer made it difficult to determine who the film was for, was it for kids or Sci-fi fans?? Three the story is pretty generic, definitely not as well received as Don's 80's films.
