5:10 It's not only the noise. It is also, not leaving spent casings where you don't want them. Imagine you are out to assassinate a guy, you shoot and the casing goes flying somewhere. More so with a specific round. It's much better to know when you are ejecting so you can eject it to your pocket or something. And in case you fumble your first shot, you can while you eject the round, press the button and use semi-automatic fire.

Hmm, now I'm wondering if it would ever be practical to have some container/bag to catch brass as it's ejected. Not sure that would ever really be a good idea, but makes me wonder what it would look like if it was.
@dark2023-1lovesoni2 жыл бұрын
@@TesserId that exact thing exist, they're called brass catchers. They're often a bit large and annoying but they do work pretty well. My favorite example though is the AR57, which is a conversion upper receiver for the AR15/M16 pattern rifle, it uses the P90's 50 round horizontal magazine and ejects the spent shells down through the AR15's normal magwell. However you can put a hollowed out AR mag in there to catch all the spent shells. Making it a great theoretical special-forces/spy weapon, because it shoots an armor peircing bullet, can be silenced, leaves no brass cases, and holds 50 rounds. If I was writing a James Bond type story, that's what I'd equip my protagonist with.

The later developed type 67 silenced pistol is basically a simplified version of type 64, the lower chamber beneath the barrel has been removed for weight reduction. Before type 64 was issued to the Chinese military in a "large scale", it was mainly introduced to NVA and Viet Cong during the Vietnam War for guerilla warfare and special operation. PLA assessed and realized its value, and start equipped type 64/67 into PLA special forces (back in the day these units were referred as "reconnaissance units" not "special forces"). During the war between China and Vietnam in 1979, special operation units from both sites used type 64/67 silenced pistols during many operations, and it is so effective that type 64/67 served in PLA for nearly 40 years, and recently replaced by QSW-06 suppressed pistol.

It's to enable you to quickly cycle the action manually in single shot mode without having to fumble with a separate locking lever. That rotating bolt lock feature is far better than a simple slide lock. It does the job but if you need a fast second shot, simply rack the action. With a simple slide lock, if you need a fast second shot, you need to manually unlock the slide, rack it AND if you want to maintain maximum suppression Relock the slide and then fire. That 'run-on' sentence ought make the fast second shot idea really clear. With this design Yes, manual slide lock; not so much. Great video! Take Care and be safe, John

That action lock is fantastic. The muffled thud of a properly suppressed 32 might not nessecarily alert a person, even if they hear it, it might not be identifiable as a dangerous sound. The mechanical click of the action will stand out in most environments though, as might, I imagine, the clatter of a spent cartrige ejecting and bouncing around. That is normally not a sound that's very audible over the sound of a gunshot, but inside a concrete building it might well be more distinguishable than the muted cough of the shot. the story behind this specific gun is actually really cool. WerBell claimed that while in Vietnam that an assassin attempted to kill him with this gun, WerBell killed the would be assassin and took his type 64 as a trophy.

WerBell claimed a lot of things.

@@distalradius8146 Who would ever think the man with his own "mercenary school" might tell tall tales. it is far more likely that it was captured by someone else and given to him by some army brass at a demonstration for research purposes. but still i would rather believe the story, its just too cool of a provenance for this gun to throw away.
@chanman8194 жыл бұрын
@@caseyd9762 Yeah, I think it's more likely Werbell at some point inspected it or saw it among captured weapons and pulled strings/paid off the right parties to make it happen. Stranger things have happened. I'm reminded of the story behind the prototype lightweight Hi-Power from kzbin.info/www/bejne/fn-lf36nr56VodE

This would be literally the same. He showed that the slide locks and the hammer can be manually set to so that when it fires nothing but the hammer is moving making noise. Soviet weapons weren’t special in that aspect. Pretty much all the silenced guns made to be silent operate that way.

@@cooliodiablo4571 hes talking about the self contained cartridges or whatever. the PSS is what the gun is called. there is no suppressor. the cartridge contains a piston which pushes the bullet out then seals the cartridge so no gas can escape. its damn near completely silent. it was further modernized with the PSS-2, but its very poorly documented.
