As someone who doesn't generally watch vtubers, I'd say it's only bad if spend most of your time watching the content itself, become obsessed with it, and not being productive with your life. Such as getting exercise and fresh air, making friends and spending time with them, planning your future, etc. I say this since the criticisms that Pax uses against the vtubers (mainly escapism) could be applied to other addictive mediums as well such as Video games or television. Anime/Manga also applies to this as it can be a form of escapism; so much so it's common for Anime/Manga to be stereotyped as escapist losers (much like comic book fans and gamers). Hence, I think the age-old practice of enjoying a hobby while taking care of yourself in real life applies to vtuber fans.

I think they're hurt for different reasons, like, gee I dunno, past trauma that was perfectly preventable(hot anime girls drawn in artstyles originating from Japan aren't the problem, they're more of a subconscious thing once you get used to seeing them - and all in all prove that pedophilia and other sexual interests aren't a problem either - Since a sexual interest alone isn't necessarily the cause of someone raping someone, its more than likely a lack of education in how to handle oneself properly and/or a lack of self-restraint), like not having enough FUCKING MONEY to get by! Which, lemme tell ya, being a VTuber is QUITE profitable if you make it big! You heard it here folks! Blame the economy(cause they aren't getting ALL their money from Japan)! Blame capitalism later, I'm still unsure of that one... Will say though, I think its a bit short sighted to think that religion has anything to do with birth rates, and, if anything, I think they have a history of &/or still actively discourage sex &/or any sexually pleasuring activities, via having all men circumsized... Not gonna lie, circumcision, is objectively, a form of bodily mutilation in the same, but certainly in a more minor(in terms of how much it alters your body) way, than the bodily mutilation that is required to remove ones sex-organs in order to then do the sex-reassignment surgery for trans(meaning 'opposite')*gender*(although they're also now transsexual due to having a different sex organ & overall sex from the one they were born with) people, which, my "lack of not really caring & knowing if there's a god or not", sounds really painful(hopefully they're put to a temporary, but lasting in duration to last the ENTIRE-if not longer than-the duration of the operation), and, well, gender shouldn't have to be so hard to prove, even though, in my contrary opinion, gender is definitely helpful in determining someones sex! Not that we actually need to know someones sex necessarily(will say its anoyying being told off for getting genders wrong though and I wish people were less "this shits obvious dumbass!" about it), although in the male & female sporting events, I think it'd be necessary - as those sorts of things are inherently supposed to discriminate between two groups with the same sex-based body builds I think... And that's a feature of those sporting events, not a problem.

I found this vídeo in my tab ages ago but just now I decided to watch it Honestly I thought it was gonna be a compilation of dissasters from the Vtuber community that originates from the Idol culture (so it's not just a vtuber thing, it has been a problem aince ages), with parasocial obsesive fans, stalkers, doxxers and gachikois going crazy if their idol loses their virginity (the first episode of Oshi no Ko showcases this problem, reason why many vtubers liked the anime as they felt identified with the issue it depicts. Think what you like to think about Vtubers, but the fear of crazy fans is REAL for them, that's why some set boundaries constantly) Didn't expect that whole social analysis on lonely men and depressed woman, wich dissapointed me is that you didn't take the woman's persoective at all Outside of the female Vtuber audience (that beside being a minority, it is pretty big and filled with lesbians), what you mentioned about depression snd this whole social issue explains why there are so many Vtubers. They are parasocial just like their fans, they are desperate and went in their way to get known by people, this explains both the sexual ones, calling desperate for some Dick. And the most sasmd side of the scene, the ones who just want to make people smile, because making people happy helps them be happy. Is really wholesome but also depressing And talking about smiles, that's the real charm of vtubers, it makes everyone smile, the lonely men, the lesbian audience, and the Plagiacci who hides behind the avatar. Newer generations of Vtubers come inspired by past ones, we are not talking of just some e-girls wanting to milk virgins, we are talking of geniune fans who got happier and their lifes became better thanks to Vtubing, and they want to share that happiness with others I know the vídeo is about the bad stuff so the good stuff is out of focus, but I feel like you should've talked better about the good side of Vtubing, how it improved the life of struggling people like IronMouse, who suffers CVID wich makes her very ill and her medical bills were almost impossible to pay. Vtubing literally saved her life, she can BREATH thanks to this industry, also besides her starting screen and her models, IronMouse doesn't fully rely on sex jokes unlike the rest of Vshojo, she's just herself, having fun streaming and most specially, having fun with her friends (Seeing her getting emotional because thanks to technology and her good friend Connor she can finally "travel" and visit other placed without compromising her health is geniunely hearthwarming) Also, you do have your points, but in some parts you kinda sounded like a religious guy who sees Pokemon Cards and tries to convince people that they are diabolical artifacts made by the devil itself. The awareness is apretiated but I think you went a little too over in them But yeah, the coomerbait culture, fueled by loneliness and what you mentioned in the video is a real problem, and as I say it does not only affects the audience, its dangers spread to the vtubers and Idols themselves who can get hurt, harassed, and in the worst cases, killed. Everything needs to be taken with moderation, it is ok to like sex driven vtubers and porn, that's your taste, but remember to separate fiction from reality and keep stuff in moderation Also, IDK if you continued making videos on this topic, but I would LOVE if you make a video about male Vtubers like the HoloStars. They give a lot to talk about, like the different focus, a dufferent way of fanservice, them struggling to grow and the Missandry of the fandom and the Unicorn phenomenom (Also WTF with the "things vtuber fans won't like" list? We LOVE hags, Marine being in her 30's, while a meme where fans mess with her,is part of her charm, we can't forget Nina Kosaka, her being an old woman was the reason she was loved, she acted like a motherly figure with years of experience. In general old people are loved, in the male side there's Vesper Noir, an old man nicknamed Grandpa by his fans and his chatting stream consists of a crazy old man telling crazy old stories) (Also them being single is what fuels parasocials, not a hood example, IDK why you put that there) (And lastly, they don't being female is where the meme "I don't care, looks female enough" comes to play. Jokes aside this is not an issue, in first place IDK why it would be an issue, in this part you even sounded a little transphobic. But anyway, vtubers have turned their real gender into a dynamic with their character, there's a girl who uses the avatar if a boy who's crossdresing as a girl for example. And with Nora Cat, the example you used with Unravel in the background, got benefit with this "slip" and from what I heard it wasn't even a secret in first place, aparently the audience knew he was a man already and they just played along with that moment)

It's a fair warning in either direction. The more people that flock to V-Tubers, the worse this reality becomes and vice versa. At the surface that sounds normal but when you observe it personally, it's a trap. All of this is a consequence of ignoring reality and while I want to leave it at that, there is no one size fits all map for getting out of it. This is why you still see people flocking to idols, becoming idols, creating new ones...There isn't anything inherently bad about that but this is a world currently engaged in some kind of global race to the bottom. This doesn't end well.

Forgot to mention that the loneliness of young male viewers (that's why most VTubers are attractive and/or cute females) is the business model of VTubers. The "having fun and a good time together" is a pretense to form parasocial relationships to hook viewers who are willing to donate money or buy merch. It's an anime version of the idol business, and it's just as manipulative (emotional manipulation, (artificial) feeling of belonging which let's you temporarily cope with your situation). Probably just a coincidence that VTubers got even more popular in the last 3 years where people were even more isolated than before. No correlation there, nope

I agree completely with you on your statement, that we need to live in reality, I really do! But on the same time reality is the reason many flee to the virtual world (like watching vtuber streams) to escape it. Their live is often depressing maybe even hellish depending on the cicumstances. Such people don't want to be anywere else, I know people like them and I would count myself to them as well. They are suffering and found an improvement to their lives through such medium's like vtuber (again). It's not like most of them aren't aware that this cannot replace a fullfilled heart - in fact they do - but they simply don't care. After all from their point of view, this (vtuber) is 100x better than what they have in their reality. It gives them a little sliver of meaning in live, wich otherwise wouldn't be present. ya, the interest in V-tubers is a symptom of a bigger problem then a problem itself. Also some of the examples he shows is not making a good point, as the group vshojo is literally meant to be degenerate, with Iron Mouse being a succubus, and their flagship V-Tuber Project Melody making porn before vshojo was a thing. It's the point of theirs channels, and their viewers know it. No, the real problem with V-Tubers is that their is so much money flowing into it, Lazy Cheep people are rushing in to get their pay out. Like with the E-Girls, this results in new V-tubers applying the easiest and quickest ways to get simps to give them money, playing to degeneracy then making a character. Overall, I see V-tubers as a move in the right direction, and their is a clear line to all this being a fantasy. Unfortunately due to all the simps, it's going to take time before the worst of the bunch move onto the next big thing. And their will be a next big thing, and it will piss people off like the last few big things.

@@DiceWarwick IMO at worst it's humane escapism for darwinian dead ends to end their bloodline in a less torturous way and at best, if modeled by Japanese idol culture, they can be role models of femininity and even chastity to disoriented western females. After studying AI for a dozen or so credits in a university, both implementation, ethics and applications, it looks like we've seen most of it. I was about to write something along the lines of "you're kinda clumping everything into one thing.. even tho.. they're not?" then eventually you mentioned it near the end how they're mixed bag, everyone is depressed nowadays and loneliness is being used for banking money. It's true that there are nuiancess i also agree with the voice acting part, but we can't do anything IF (i.e. lilypichu) they actually sound like that no matter what they do, lol. some sad realization i found out when watching this. 9:50 if this is true it seems like pursuing your dreams and aspiration to have a profession makes you depressed like you mention in this video girls/female were happier when they marry earlier or something :V and that's kinda just a sad truth i guess has nothing to do with how men can't make gf because of social life. also reminds me of lalaland like how the lesson was that 2 partners that has professions will find it hard to make it work unless they have the same work or found a way to make it work. (also the media before seem to just paint women as a house maid of some sort i know that sounds too radical but it was somewhat that bad..) then the section about how the religion and media changed the age of marriage, i think this just shows how dumb people are when they're younger, I'm not against divorce or dating apps and things like that because there are some valid cases like abusive relationship and such, dating apps kinda raise the bar? and at the same time makes it seem like there's so many option and everyone is just expendable like you can just easily swipe someone if you don't like em. 11:15 i know what you're trying to say here which is completely valid but another thing i'd like to point out is that some of these vtubers like you mention later on are also male, and/or also loners singles moms, divorced etc. so.. yeah the companies maybe are banking in their loneliness but the more depressing fact is they're not laughing at us they're laughing with us, sure they get money from all this but they're probably suffering from the pressure and toll too, if they truly have good morals or if they just feel like a product. 16:00 You mention "some of their audience might be disgusted" where i might agree? but there are some rare cases where.. it's obvious.. and people don't care lol like most hololive fans joke about YAGOO (the CEO) is all hololive vtuber.. and honestly like everyone will probably more likely surprised not mad at all some maybe but it's a given thing lol the one with a slip up they still have views, another thing i might add which could be somewhat REACHING.. in japan (and some country) "GAYS" or "TRANS" are not that welcome, so you can see how some of these old men acting as cute little girls could be their only way to express themselves as "female" it is kinda depressing on that lense but the majority it is somewhat creepy, I don't think anyone is open to talk about that yet. i even find it kinda off thinking of it that way. (this is considering that it's happening before when vtuber was such a niche thing and it haven't exploded yet and there's already type of vtuber called Babiniku which most people are aware there's even opposite where girls pretend to be a guy/trap lol and why do they do it? even tho they know at the start they can't earn money from it and it will take too long to start earning from it also they're probably lonely too..) as your question at the end you came of harsh like comparing e-thots the vtubers, there are some nuances on that but i guess that's because you're not putting them beside each other not until we see that segment where you show an example of iron mouse jiggle titty because some viewers might think of their experience and they don't see think the way you think so i suggest probably after recording your voice think about how the visual will help your points a lot of the things you said came of harsh at the middle then became a somewhat clearer later on and i guess that just you hoping people will watch the whole video before commenting, so maybe do some disclamer thing? or think about the structure and order. the statistics and fact checks are fine even tho they don't entirely mean that vtuber caused it but it's true it's much more rampant now but even then i see more people get to meet friends/community because of it. like in some luck chances there were viewers boasting how they found a gf who was also watching vtubers and the vtuber were happy for them that they got together for that so idk that's like really rare i guess lol.

Frankly, I see Vtubers as I see pro wrestlers, and I love pro wrestling for its strong, positive aspects. Girls are given a gimmick, but fiction combines with reality and it's hard to know how much, because it's way easier to wear the gimmick than a wrestler that travels everywhere. They can spice up or even outright change their gimmicks, and at least for the corporate ones, stay entertaining enough for the audience; some are more niche than others, and some get more personal than others. I can't watch an entire stream, I don't have the patience or time to do that, so I mostly watch compilations and skip/watch in whatever interests me. There are some that I find very engaging, like Watame, because her persona is endearing and I like the way she sings. But just like a wrestler I really like, I don't try to create a bond with her. Even in her supposedly more personal, vulnerable moments, I can't really budge because it doesn't feel natural. If she's going through a rough time or something, well, that sucks and I hope she overcomes it, but that's it. I agree that their popularity is due to the bad hand young adults are given, but they submit instead of building a more "normal" life and environment around them.

Turns out these desires are completely natural and ignoring them doesn't help you either. After about two weeks I started having libido again and I couldn't focus as well as I normally would. I work out on a daily basis, I'm succeeding in my work life, but my ability to have swagger while hanging out with friends was definitely taking a hit because I was thinking about sex every few minutes. I enjoy a lot of Hololive content. I've never spent any money on them, despite the hours of entertainment I've gotten from them. I think you did a mostly fair job with this video. I think there *is* a dark side and more young men need to be aware that these things do exist. Nevertheless, I do feel happy when I see these girls growing, when their lives improve, and I have prayed for their safety when I hear they've gotten the clotshot. Even if they are entertainers and they do not know me, they are still human individuals. I think there are things that Hololive/Cover in particular, and some of their talents, do deserve praise for - and I recognize that the "positive side" of vtubers is not the topic of this video. I don't think it was "good" entertainment, but I think it would have been ok if it didn't go the degenerate route. Expecting the vtubers simps to brigade this video...
@brob6573 жыл бұрын
I won't lie, if you thought of them as 2D versions of E-girls, then at that point would any female content creator count as a e-girl to you? Or would it specifically count towards any female streamer? I am a Vtuber fan, but I don't see neither the 'Degenerate' side as anything alike E-girls, nor the non-degenerate side. I feel like you've either seen a very handful of both female content creators, and the ones you have seen simply easily fit into that corner of "E-girls". Truth is, it was quite hard, and still is quite hard for female entertainers to get anywhere without using sex appeal in some way, but IRL and Vtubers(though, it's easier for vtubers to just slap on a cute avatar without much of sex appeal and let their personality do the rest.). You can just see it by comparing how many female streamers or content creators use their bodies vs the male ones, then see how many female content creators that don't use their body exist and are successful comparebly to the male ones.
@thegreenfather19783 жыл бұрын
@@brob657 E-girls use sex appeal to attract young lonely men and get their attention and money. That's it. Most vtubers I've seen fit the description. Very few don't, like maybe Tem or Pikamee (unsure). As for female content creators, you can check the girls on Hermitcraft, like Cleo, Stress or Pearl. 100% family friendly, 0% sex appeal, and yet they make good content and are successful. If there are not as many successful female content creators as male ones, it's either because there are less of them to begin with, or because they're not as good as their male conterparts. People only care about being entertained, who you are doesn't matter. That's all. It's funny how you bring up this discrepancy, considering how few male vtubers exist. If female content creators have to resort to sex appeal to be succesful, and every single successful vtuber is female, then wouldn't that mean that vtubers are inherently sexual at their core? Ergo vtubers are just anime e-girls?

@@thegreenfather1978 and the problem with sex appeal is, hey there are people who are attracted to that and if they go as far as paying them for providing them with that kind of content i dont really see the problem, some vtubers also do that kind of thing but with an anime avatar, others dont, like what are exactly the negatives? yeah yeah "attract loney men and extort them from their money" if you have money to give to a female streamer or a vtuber its not like you are being held at gun point, most people choose willingly to give money to their favorite streamer or content creator because they can and are either entertained, amused or interested in the content they are producing be that "100% family friendly 0% sex appeal" or straight up porn, i fail to see the problem with that also the video goes on a weird rant about how porn is bad and has to be banned like really?

This video resonates my most point why in the middle on Vtubers in generals for a while especially when business organizations involved. Yeah they are cute and talented and these should be appreciated but when it draws the line of exploitation is no good. Just like the dark side of self improvement courses, one crosses a line to exploit their audience situation just to keep them hook on to their streams and generate revenue. Sad to know one of former talent of Cover is alleged to practice such exploitation *ehem* Rushia. We have no such cure to extreme cases of simping but providing awareness can dissuade them from falling into this trap.

The hard to swallow pills you mentioned is that about the fleeting time. You'll never know what comes after you until you start regretting things with time that could be used for better things. Some may argue that as long they enjoy it, it doesn't matter, right? That's what they said at first... And there won't be second time. If I could escape from reality, I will definitely would do it but it is what it is. Vtuber thing is definitely a good way for escapism but once you're inside, it might be hard to get out.

There are some valid criticisms like the sexualization, parasocial delusions, relationship baiting, and how many young men uses Vtubers as a substitute for real relationships. But, there are other points that makes no sense: - This video took the nut joke out of context, and framed it as a blatant encouragement of porn addiction. The context is: Risu is a squirrel character, and when she say stuff like "have you guys gotten your biggest nut yet", it's supposed to be a squirrel joke. - Vtubers don't have the responsibility to make their content kids friendly if they don't specifically target their content for kids. Should Hollywood make horror movies less scary because there is an entire demography of curious 15 years olds who can bypass parental supervision? - How is detachment from reality a problem if it's for entertainment purposes? Yes, a person with parasocial tendency will not be able to tell fiction from reality. But, most sane audience understands they are engaging in temporary suspension of belief because they're enjoying a piece of entertainment. - Capitalism has loads of problems, but contrasting them with China doesn't make a convincing argument. Criticizing capitalism as a default "profit over moral" and correlate it with the whole Vtuber scene is grossly reductive. Especially in the case of Hololive, this agency has been shown to have strong moral commitments like ensuring their idol's fair share of compensation, protecting their privacy and freedom outside of work.
@yukiko6137 Жыл бұрын
But these men can't get relationships anyway. Like I'm sorry but we've unleashed hypergamy to such extent that women don't consider 80% of men as average, much less desirable and they even act on it.

Yeah, even if trends are obnoxious, telling people to not follow them won't help the pursuit of original content. Hololive is rooted in idol culture, but it doesn't hold those traditions as gospel.

I think that by saying that there are talented V-tubers who can entertain you're being way kinder than a lot of people who are going to agree with this video. I think that the phenomenon of parasocial relationships and the manifestation of them in modern world are important to acknowledge the existence of. I don't agree with the idea that the streamers are just playing to their audience since the big companies are in charge of the character designs and they stream too often to convincingly fake a persona. If you see a degenerate, the chances are they're just as much of one when the camera's off. I also think that religion is a red herring in this conversation. You bring up how poorly Japan is doing with its relationship problems and how China is doing better but neither is very Christian like the US and Russia.

It sounds like this guy is grasping at straws to find a reason why Vtubers are destroying civilization, when in reality, civilization has been trying to destroy itself, like how divorce courts are run, career politicians being a thing, and it's been doing it for centuries. This is like a desperate cover up for the fact he just doesn't like Vtubers, but wants to milk out some kind of hardcore reaction like "OH LOOK HOW UNCHRISTIAN THIS IS". I know actual traditional Catholics, talked to one the other day, friend of mine, and he'd probably say you're making a gigantic waste of time for doing this kind of video and bringing in religion into it. This guy sounds more like he's larping his religion. Using religion as a weapon against vtubers also just seems like a disgraceful use of religion. Why not use religion to talk about the way politicians falsely claim to be men of god. Also probably a bit of an incel if he tries to talk about MGTOW, and then never touches on what MGTOW even actually has to do with the grander scheme of vtubers themselves. Just some hot topic buzzwords.

Amusing... Even in mankind's origin. Nothing has changed. No matter... This ordeal ends rather shortly. Every other "evidence" is not even close to the truth of the matter. People choose what to buy. The form a marketable relationship. Nothing more or less. The things about religion and so on?... This ordeal is the byproduct of the old wars before America existed. I am amused but it was as designed by the progenitors of mankind.

This was an incredibly well done and well researched video. I also found it woefully insightful ("woeful," in the sense that this video, while invaluable for its ability to bestow wisdom, also brings pain and suffering along with it-- as it leads us to discoveries that are cumbersome in weight, and problems that have no real remedies for them). Anyways, I especially love how your video gets very close to the root of the problem of Vtuber Parasocialism-- that more and more men are just plain lonely nowadays. This insight alone brings a new dimension of understanding to this topic, understanding which we can then use in addressing this multi-faceted issue. And lastly, I love the Tokyo Ghoul part of this video. It was undoubtedly the best part, and it is something that I will giggle over for years to come, i'm sure! 😂

A few things I disagree with. The anti social fans is one. Now they're out there but it's every streamer chat has those few that speak loudly and say crazy shit and grow attached to people who don't even know them. Hell that's how Greek became friends with tyler1, another is the similarities with e-girls. You mostly compared vshojo and other English indies to them and made it seem like all vtubers just make non stop crude jokes when it really just depends on who's doing it, not only that while those like veibae is basically a vtuber egirl you got others who aren't as crude and actually talented entertainers. Lastly is the cash cow argument, there are a lot of streamers in general not just vtubers who only see fans as walking bank checks but you also have those who stream everyday making a 1/10th of the average income of the average vtuber streamer, not only that but the whole industry was built on a few who streamed for years with less than 100 views. Lastly I guess I should say why I watch vtubers before I get called a coomer. It's because it reminds me of old KZbin in a way I grew up watching twobestfriendsplay, the yogscast, the creatures, etc. Now all these groups are gone, disbanded, or they still make videos for a younger audience. Personally not a fan of grps like vshojo and all but there are streamers and vtubers who fill that gap of intertainment that can't really be found on KZbin anymore.
