This episode kept millions of ten year-olds glued to their black and white TV sets back in 1965. I know, because I was one of them!

I watched some of this show as a child, and I'm working my way through the episodes now. This one was great. It's nice to see the Jupiter II land without crashing.

One of the most incredible filming of its time. The Jupiter flight around the unique looking derelict ship is just superb. Great scene and very surreal. Truly SciFi.👍✨🌟💫

Yuppers I’m another “old” guy now that saw the original airing and for decades beyond re-runs. Liked the stories. Especially Father & Son, Family and adventures. Never got into Dr. Smith. Other elements were great. The music was perfection. Who knew all those years ago that it was the great John Williams. Yes. Star Wars, Indy, ET, Memoirs of a Geisha and SO many more!!
@rumbers18 күн бұрын
Would love to see Williams pay homage to Lost In Space with a big modern orchestra on TV one day. For some reason it always gets omitted. I read somewhere that his children still think it's his greatest work!

I loved how smoothly Irwin made fly the J2 around the Derelict in these seen. For me the spaceship it is a work of art in its design. During the late the 60's I used to put two cardbord together and play with'em in many adventures. One day during the 90's I sarted my collection of all the models available till the 00's..

I was also impressed by the moving shadows of the alien ship against its own hull as it rotated -- very realistic.

The first season was definitely chocked full of great stories. Maureen Robinson doing a spacewalk a couple of decades before a woman really did it for the first time? The story about the antimatter universe where Don and John found their anti selves? Great stuff!

In the early episodes Dr Smith was a cold-blooded killer. Biggest mistake they made was turning him into a bumbling fool later on

If Dr Smith had not shot the Lazer at the creatures while they were in suspended animation, maybe the Robinsons wouldn't be charged with crimes in Space when the show switched to color.

I loved the show as well growing up. The first seasons first episodes were the best. Unfortunately it became somewhat corny. It was the following year in 1966 that star Trek came out on the screen and perhaps took away an audience who wanted something more serious and realistic. I still liked Lost in Space and as i kid have some fond memories.

Doctor Smith was a Commie agent in first few episodes and a very flamboyant man. Show went downhill when colorized. Just imagine the implications of rainbow colors!

As a kid, this was the most frightening episode so far. What was that thing? Who made it? What's inside? OMG it's got a mouth! It's eating the Jupiter! So dramatic! I'll always resent Jonathon Harris for turning the show into a vehicle for his annoying af character - I wanted to reach through the screen, pull him out and throw him in the trash cans on the curb outside.
