Yeah no the Bracken is absolutely an evolution of Legs from this game. Only this dev would have such a unique understanding of how to make such an interesting, dynamic and of course, lastingly scary monster that behaves like this.

I think the terrifying thing about this game is that you can take it slow - indeed most levels punish you for rushing and particularly for panicking - but you're on a soft time limit. Every level has some variation of three strikes, usually three chases you're allowed to have before Legs tires of the game and kills you, or the three bunkers or two devices in the other levels. It means that you get punished for rushing and punished for lingering, and must find the sweet spot, which also ensures that the game remains difficult even when you understand it fully. That said, what really makes it alongside that is the sound design. The sounds which straddle the border between laughing and sobbing, the footsteps stalking around you when you're being hunted, things in the distance and things nearby, the little huff Legs will do when near you and not yet seen. When combined with monsters that don't purely rush you, but have quirks and shifting patterns in their movements, and with the lighting and environments forcing you to rely in part on sound, it works wonderfully well. Also, in regards to shutter mode, particularly its hard mode variant ('Shudder mode' as it's called), you have to make distance away from Legs or else he will lunge - basically, his speed is higher the closer you are to him. Get as much space and corners between you and him as you can when he stops and you'll be able to react to him coming because he'll be travelling slower _and_ a longer distance. If you think you're clever and try to get all the stuns in the chase in one spot the frame he starts running, he'll outpace your reaction time easily. And yes, he knows the maze and will generally try to approach from sides you're not watching, though at times he will just decide to rush you outright. He's unpredictable like that.

Off topic from this video, but seeing the game awards the other day I can't stop being hyped for the dave the diver and Dredge collab. Two of my favourite recent titles and they are creating what looks to be some awesome dlc. I hope Insym reads this, would love to hear his thoughts on it too.

Yea this might be one of my first favorite Devs ever. It seems like he made this game to where players cannot speed run it. He actually forces you to enjoy his game or his creations, a.k.a the Monsters will abruptly kill you for him lol.

A film student explained to me that no matter what you are watching, the way it makes you feel only has 20% to do with what you are looking at, the rest is the genius audio sounds that create that true immersion effect. Something I think this Dev has mastered as a whole. Even here in the precursor days to his now Lethal Company, the sound effects are just so pinpoint perfect.

Legs became the Bracken AI, and Jester Look/Model Phantom became the Eyeless Dogs Living Walls became the Coil-Head But I do wish a new moon that appears randomly in the terminal will send you to a location where 1 of the It Steals Monster will be there, Legs, Phantom, and the Hide n Seek guy(I forgot his name) will be there, no other monsters except 1 of them
