If you watch the movie you would know. They show actual footage how far it was from their table to Maddie bed . They had a timer go off at the table every 20 ninutes. They took turns doing a visual check on them . They were within ear shot . They had done the exact same thing every night of their vacation with the same six couples , all with children , all checking . They were targeted. Whoever did this was watching them from the time they decided to take her. It wasn't 1 person. I think child pervert ring. These people spent big dollars to coordinate this. So sad!

Watching the parents in the documentary was frustrating. Here's why. 1. Nothing to do with the disappearance? BIG NO. Even if they didn't do it they neglected their children every night to go to the restaurant (and according to the map the room was impossible to be seen from their seat!). They didn't make sure that the windows on the ground floor are locked. A day before Madelaine told them that she's afraid and yet they went out again that night. Unbelievable. Also they did the same thing every night which make it easy for a perpetrator to learn the pattern. Could the police arrest/sue them for child negligence instead of murder? It's easier to proof. 2. Many inconsistent statements & strange behaviours. They're smart people. They should've known that ALL people are suspects (well including them) and should not be allowed to mess with the crime scene and tampered with the evidence. 3. Why was it so hard for them to understand that the police HAD to suspect them because of the proven statistics (most crimes were done by the closest person)? It's not subjective allegation, it's the procedure. They weren't cooperative at all (like not answering the 43 questions) which made the investigation much more difficult to conduct. Why would you be afraid? Wouldn't it be easier to just tell the truth? 4. Dogs don't lie. If there's anyone who didn't have any hidden agenda at all it's them. It didn't proof that the McCanns are guilty, but it was something! Shouldn't they be curious to what truly happened that led to the discovery? Maybe another possibility that their daughter was killed then moved? If so, where's the body? It leads to.. 5. Why did they insist with the kidnapping narrative? Why didn't they consider that their daughter wandered on her own especially if the back door was unlocked? Was it because they knew that she's on sleeping pills? They should've focused on finding THE TRUTH instead of finding their 'lost' daughter and splurging donation. 6. The people behind them always appeal to emotional reason: they're suffering, devastating, if you talk with them there's no way they did that.. But where's the proof? If you see it objectively they're more likely to be guilty than innocent. For me it indicates manipulative behavior. Not to mention the sponsors, coverage, PR.. They're extremely concern about their image, for what purpose? 7. I need to remind you: MADELEINE IS THE VICTIM, NOT THE PARENTS. She's the one who needs justice, not the parents. If one of the way is to suspect the parents, so be it. For the sake of her. Sorry for writing this long. I just need to get it out of my head. Wouldn't it be interesting though if someday the twins reveal the truth? Personally I think they accidentally killed Madeleine or covering up accidental death because of their negligence long before dinner and the dinner was the alibi. When was the last time anybody see the child? Another very important yet overlooked question in the documentary.

I agree 100% with everything you said. Especially the part about Madeleine telling her parents she was scared; surely that should have been a sign to them that something wasn't right. Seemingly Kate even admitted that she heard Maddie crying from the apartment when they were in the restaurant the night before, but she decided to ignore it. Shocking parenting.

@Aulia Ardista I agree with many things. They are medical professionals, smart people. they know that suspicions are always first in a close relative. The strong refusal to be self-investigated is strange coming from them. Another thing. Why nobody talks about the friend who went to see the children before the mother? He is also a big suspect. Nobody investigated him? The group of friends are shady for sure.

@mills how can you presume that their parents aren't loving? After fighting for years do you seriously think they should be separated from the only ones they had left. I know they had neglected things at that night but it doesn't mean that you snatch away remaining kids and put them in child care where I have seen child begging for fathers and mothers. Having father and mother is better than a whole fuking care system made up of an entire planet (except if the parents are abusive ofcourse).

£11 million spent on the UK police by taxpayers to keep this investigation ongoing. In the meantime, thousands of children have gone missing and have not received the publicity as this case does. I guess when there’s an element of parent negligence it spices things up and stirs up controversy. Mccans should have done jail time for their part in child negligence. Yet they have gone onto make a book about her disappearance. I hope Maddie is in peace wherever she maybe.

The real question is: when was the child last seen alive? Who were the last people to actually see her alive? That would be the parents, because they themselves stated their friend who went to check on the kids never went into the bedroom to identify each of the kids. That to me is very suspicious. Therefore, no one really knows if Maddie was still alive and / or in her bed at that time or not... anything could've happened before then. Also, it blows my mind how the documentary mentioned that at some point , the parents let strangers come and go in their apartment, with the twins still asleep... they themselves left the apartment to go look for Maddie , while the twins were asleep... I am sorry but if I find out my child is missing, there's no way in hell I'd leave my remaining kids unattended to go look for him/her... they're coming with me.

The parents were able to see the progression of the Portuguese police turn the story around, framing them both for it. The police wasn't searching for their little girl anymore, because the parents were under false suspicion. Every day that past got worse, for Madeline and the parents. They needed to actually leave Portugal in order to continue the search for their daughter, outside of the Portuguese police. Continuously answering aggresive questions, that you can see aren't going anywhere from 3 contradictory rounds. Of course they stopped answering, what good are they in jail framed. They knew the police stopped trusting both of them, from FALSE results of dna given by the scientific team. They needed lawyers at that point in the case. In any child kidnapping case, even if in the beginning the parents do point to murder. You NEVER stop looking for the missing child. Every day they wasted not looking, when Madeline possibly was travelling further and further away from Portugal. The Portuguese police were framing the parents, because it was easy. It made the police look good, it kept their countries reputation in a good place. This story is absolutely heartbreaking. If you think these two parents were able to get away with the murder of their child, when they had police down their backs aggressively and a whole country hating them. If they actually had solid evidence against them, the case would have ended there. You can only prove innocence, and it was proven. Human trafficking is a very real, scary subject. Someone could of paid a lot of money for Madeline, I really do hope she has been treated well as she could have been an investment to someone. One day when she is older she might have the ability to speak out in whatever language she has been taught. We can only spread her portrait of what she would look like now to every country, and wait. No matter what you believe to have happen, let's not give up on the possibility of finding Madeline.

Just got done watching. The whole thing felt like a huge PR job for the McCanns yet ironically, the show only solidified my suspicions that they absolutely had something to do with her disappearance in some way shape or form. There are way too many "Scooby Doo-esque" oddities around the whole thing. Also, they have flat out refused to take lie detector tests on several occasions. I've studied body language and theirs is all over the place when they are questioned about it, particularly Gerry's.

1. There's no evidence to sustain that they actually drugged their kids. It's a theory considered by the police and later dropped. 2. The dogs alerted to blood and cadaver scent on two places in the apartment and in the car. It was later found out that the blood didn't actually matched Madeleine, it could've belonged to any of the McCanns as they share some of Maddy's DNA. As for the cadaver sent, it could've belonged to any person who stayed in the apartment before the McCanns, same as the car. Which is much more likely, given the fact that they rented the car only 23 days after Madeleine's disappearance, it doesn't make any sense. Furthermore, the actual trainer of the dogs said that their foundings shouldn't be taken as evidence on their own! Meaning that they shouldn't be considered as evidence, if any other evidence would sustain theirs.

What I think happened, is that the parents gave the kids some sort of drug to keep them asleep while they went for dinner, because the parents were both doctors and apparently the baby wasn’t waking up or making a sound while the police searched. They thought the kid was drugged. And the mother kept checking on her and then realised they had killed her so she had no choice but to dispose of her body

And so what if our parents left us for an hour or two on vacations in apartment? They were in restaurant next to apartment ao they could see if anything would happen - not kidnapping, but sister fights or jumping on beds... but I understand that, they needed hour or two for themselves and a wine after long day with two small annoying kids😂 And today, 20 years later we drink together on family gatherings or watching horror movies for Halloween together... And we are perfectly normal loving family :)

NOT RECOMMENDED! this documentary could be finished within 1 hour but they dragged the story to 8 episodes. they showed the story of the investigators, the journalists, the story of the locals, the story of the place, WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MCANN. next time insert the story of the producer too, like, how he was bullied in highschool then an alpha baseball varsity player forced his pp into the producers mouth then it made the producer's motivation to become successful then eventually producing documentaries that can be presented into 1 or two episodes but they needed to tell other people's stories so he inserted his own bullied-back-in-the-day personal story to make it about himself for 1 or 2 episodes then proceeded to tell the story of the janitor in the resort, then the security guard's story, then the owner's story... drag the documentary to second season. why stop to just 8 episodes?
