It was the summer of 1971. We were dirt poor , hard headed , loud mouthed teenagers with a spirit of adventure. Terry Thompson, Juan (Poncho Grande) Fuentes, Jacky Ray Thompson, Dennis (the yellow duck) Dibble, Sandra Lou Bemis and myself, drove to Joplin Mo. to see our very first Live Concert! This song was one of there first hits and we all left feeling a little"funny" after the smoke filled experience....It was a bond that has lasted 50 years.

@@BigPapiSmack His influence has waned. When the fans were included in the process, that's how Rush finally got in. But fan influence has let BonJovi, Journey and Def Leppard get in. Really, Def Leppard in but Judas Priest isn't? I'm not a huge Priest fan, but I understand their place in rock history and they deserve the Hall.

Who gives a FU@K about the R&R HOF? It's a sham like all HOF's. No artisit needs the HOF to validate how great they are. Why do you people care so much about any band being inducted into a sham HOF? It means nothing.

Like Skynyrd best but the Doobies are very close. I like when people sing in harmony not scream or growl into the mike. Tommy, Pat, and McGee are incredible musicians. Tom can shred a guitar. I don't dance but I always find my heart telling my body to smile and move when they play music. I have seen video of my dance moves and it is not pretty....but oooolisten to the music.

There's not enough room on this page to talk about how great this performance is. Your drums are miced so perfectly, the kick is a low thud impact, and the snare has a pop that cuts right through. It's also great that the live adrenalin rush didn't make them speed up. This is the same tempo as it was originally intended to be played.

I started out in bands back in the 60's when all of us played together and could do it live. I must admit, now that we all have the technology in our own personal computers to sound a bit band like on our own if we can play a few instruments I do it like that now. But it's nothing like having 4 or 5 comrades that can play up there doin' it together. This is from those magic days when groups created great music together, each giving it their best. Today's music will never compete with that. I count my blessings that my younger days were from that time. Sadly, we can never go back. These guys just rock like it's supposed to be. There are probably those that would disagree, but you just had to be there to know what I'm talkin' about. Fortunately there are a few groups left from that time that still carry on the tradition, but for how much longer can they do it? We are all getting on up in age. These guys are just amazing for how long they have lasted.
