Don't want to take away credit from Jim Morrison, he was a genius of his time, but the Doors just wouldn't be the Doors without Manzarek's masterful key playing. His playing makes this and the rest of their music instantly recognizable. Edit: also keep in mind, Ray plays the keys section, but he ALSO plays the bass line in every doors song. The doors didn't have a bassist, it was all Ray.

That must have been a magical feeling! I met John Densmore in the mid 90s when he played a solo drum show at my college campus, University of South Dakota of all places! I wrote for the college newspaper at the time and was invited to the after-show mixer where only about 20 people were there. I walked right up to John, shook his hand and proceeded to tell him about a play I was writing in my creative writing class inspired by the Doors music. John smiled and then said, "If you make it to Broadway, call me up!" Still to this day I am amazed at my luck that day meeting him. Years later I was also able to see the Doors play in concert with Ian Astbury, which was phenomenal. The Doors played for about 2 1/2 hours and the band let people get up on the stage and dance. Very fun memorable experience.

Listening to this praying to the heavens as I put my hands up it went from sprinkels to full on pour in SECONDS I heard "if you don't appreciate the healing waters , you'll never make it out the storm" I waited I listened and I felt all my anxiety rush out me I didn't feel cold just peace and harmony. This brilliant song for the ages is one of the finest constructed songs in music recording history. Every tiny detail is pitch perfect .I surely hope that and i think that he did that Jim truly respected Ray Robby and John for their brilliant unique talent.Those 3 could not have been more better for Jim's poetic genius.A band for eternity.
