It's actually not that dumb of a lawsuit at all, there are far dumber lawsuits out there. Jobst could genuinely lose the case unless he can provide incontrovertible proof Mitchell cheated. Showing he used MAME isn't enough if he didn't use it to provide assistance. Plenty of speedrunning communities allow emulators. Guinness said it is satisfied that Billy Mitchell - even if he used MAME (which it seems he did)- got the record in a way that was legitimate.

I think you are missing the point here. In the magic show people know what they are in to as they pay for their tickets to get fooled. Watching some one playing video game is different as you not expected him to cheat. Nevertheless he never went forward with his witnesses so it’s equally useless.

You cant *see* someone have steroids in their system, you need advanced blood work experiments. You cant *see* a race car use Nitrous Oxide for a boost of speed from the grandstands, you need to actually look through the car/engine to find the evidence. The example isn't about paying to be deceived in a magic show vs watch someone play a game 🤦‍♂️. Its about realizing people *cannot* see things at a deeper level without further investigation, and usually the equipment to accurately analyze it. You dont see finger prints on the murder weapon at just a glance, you'd never know the knife/gun you're looking at/holding was used to kill someone at the surface level. You need accurate equipment to actually *see* the prints, and even more equipment to pin those finger prints to a specific individual. Thats what this comment is about, it has nothing to do with paying to be willingly fooled for fun whatsoever. Further example: You took the OPs comment at face value, without actually examining the idea on the level it was intended for. People can't be trusted, not because they arent trustworthy; but because their depth of understanding is grossly disproportionate to the level of depth *necessary* to evaluate these situations on a deeper level than our eyes can see. You cant see drugs in a humans system, you need blood work. You can't see evidence on a murder weapon, you need DNA. You cant see germs or microscopic organisms you need a microscope.

Greetings all. I was as close to the situation as you could be back in 2018 when the dispute of Billy's DK scores was taking shape. I was friends with Billy Mitchell and Robert Childs and regularly hosted an event called "Retro Arcade Night" at Robert's Business "Arcade Game Sales" in Fort Lauderdale, FL with them for years periodically. When I was told of this dispute of his DK scores, I befriended a technician by the name of Carlos Pineiro and we proceeded to volunteer our time, initially on behalf and in defense of Billy Mitchell for 6 weeks, testing the actual and original equipment(Arcade PCB,Two Bit Converter, Capture Card) that they told us was the original equipment used to play and record the games in dispute. We had no reason to believe that we were being lied too, as again I had been friends with Bill and his best friend Robert for more than 7 years. But after 6 weeks of testing and then being privy to the digitized copies of his 1.047 and 1.050 games to examine frame by frame, we realized what the core of the dispute was and you could clearly see the emulated signatures all throughout the footage of those games and the equipment that we had to test would never produce the way the game generates it's stages( 3 girders instead of 5 on a arcade PCB, etc..) hence these games are NOT arcade rendered. I am a legitimate world record holder on the classic game Mario Bros. and I know what it takes to play for a record on some of these classic titles. It's a challenge and the integrity of the scoreboard that celebrates the players achievements of these records should never be compromised or amongst fraudulent scores where players deliberately cut corners and deceived the community for years. What's even worse then lying is trying to sue and threaten other people as a result of your lie. Unacceptable and inexcusable. I vouch for everything eloquently stated by Karl on this video. @@Fighter11244 About 4 weeks in to testing and recreating the direct feed setup of the equipment they told us was used to record the games and then receiving digitized footage of those games and realizing that what was on the tapes can not come from actual arcade equipment. barrel transition screens that start with three girders instead of 5 is impossible on a authentic Donkey Kong arcade PCB. And those emulated signatures are consistent on the footage and the footage of the 1.047 KOK score dates back to the Robert Mruczak 2006 interview with MTV and is also the same as a 2005 UK convention that Mitchell traveled too that displays that same game. Multiple copies of that game that different people have of the KOK 1.047 score show the exact same thing. NOT different.

There is nothing he can do or say to make people change their minds about him. The lawsuits are just another game for him and he plays his bad guy character really well.
