Most companies are pretty chill when it comes to recovering accounts. I used to do that to hack into runescape accounts. I'd get their email address from the recovery form then go to gmail/hotmail/yahoo/etc then recover their email. Then recover their account or if more steps were needed i'd recover their facebook so i could get personal information on them. It's a LOT harder now but back in 2011 it was easy to convince someone behind the desk to just reset the password if you knew basic details.

Wowwww, I'm glad to hear this is common!! Sooo, I quit OSRS for about a year and a half. I wasn't even very high level yet, maybe like base 50's ish or lower, hadn't hardly done any quests. I didn't even know my account had been hacked, but when I came back over a year later to start playing again, I ended up needing to recover it. Thought it was weird.... I had no problems recovering it though and logged right in to find that my bank pin had been reset. There was hardly anything in the bank, nothing of value, and pretty much all that was left was a bunch of miscellaneous junk on the main tab. A few more quests had been completed as well. The WEIRDEST part though; upon checking my stats I found that I suddenly had 99 thieving! And not just 99, but something like 23m xp in the skill... Absolutely confused, I decided to check my GE history for perhaps just a bit of insight. For as far back as my GE history would scroll, I saw that Ancient Scepter's had been sold. Dozens of them sold, for tens or possibly hundreds of mils. And those were just the ones I could see; who knows how many had actually been acquired and sold on the GE! After seeing my stats, the GE history, and finding some stone artifacts in my bank, it was obvious that my account must have been used to bot Pyramid Plunder while I was away. I fortunately don't have any reports or bans on my account from it, and literally all gp and items of value were already traded off the account by the time I recovered it, which I think is odd. If the account was purchased and used for botting, I'm not sure why they would stop before it got banned? But hey, I'm not complaining! I would be devastated, as this is my main account of 13+ years. The only real downside is that now my account looks sketchy AF, and I get a lot of crap from other players in-game for it. Even when I try to tell people what happened, they don't believe me. At this point, I just either tell people that I love Pyramid Plunder, or that I make my brother play it for me to make money lol. I hate lying, but it's just easier than trying to explain the truth to people, which they don't believe anyway. And lately, I've been putting a lot of work and effort into my stats and have a handful of other 99's now too, so it's not so bad anymore :)

I recovered my account after taking a 2 week break last year. Tried logging in and my account was already online. After I got it back I logged in at barrows wearing mystic hat and robe top dragon legs and boots with Ivan's blast setup. Went from 54 to 76 mage. According to the kill count in barrows chest it had done over 1600 chests in 2 weeks

This actually happened to me on my WoW account back around 2009. My account was hacked and then used for botting for around 4 days before I was able to recover it. I lost those 4 days of playing on that account but I was playing on my 2nd account while trying to get my main account back. It was weird being on my 2nd account and seeing my main logged in and playing. Once it was finally recovered I actually ended up making money because of the botting the person did. They basically sold everything I had and just farmed a ton of gathering materials like ores and herbs. Once I got the account back a GM restored all of my stuff that had been sold or destroyed, and left all the ore and herbs instead of taking them. I think I made around 10k gold from it, which was a decent amount of money back then. It was shortly after the launch of a new expansion so those materials were in pretty high demand which is how I made so much gold out of it. With that chunk of essentially free gold I was able to flip some high value items and turn it into even more gold which was awesome. I miss those days. Now the game has gone to shit lol.

Not me. But a close friend. He played OSRS briefly in 2013/2014 and pretty much only had trained melee and woodcutting. In june 2018, he wanted to show his account, tried to log in, found out he was banned (unchanged password too, was a very complex one) Ban date was 4-5 days before that, perma macro major. We appealed the ban and logged in a day later, now he cleaned out his bank before all this (gave it to a friend) and found himself with free 73 magic and 3m worth of air orbs. He simply said "what a nice welcome back bonus".

Jagex is able to look at where in the world your account was looged into at the time of the ban. If you were playing in the U.S. for years, then suddenly you were botting in Venezuela for a month or 2, a ban appeal will probably go pretty smooth.

I don't play anymore but my main bot account i had unpermabanned 6 times or so. The sad part is the only account i didn't bot on, they refused to unban. this was back in like 2006. i even pretended to be my mom, (i was like 13) and they refused to unban my ACTUAL account.

I don't really play RS, but this kind of thing happened to me in 2011 when I used to play World of Warcraft. My account got hacked, and when I got it back, all but one of my characters had been deleted. The one remaining character, a lvl 74 tauren druid had had all his items sold and was parked Crystalsong Forest in his undies with an inventory absolutely STUFFED with herbs and a bunch of gold that I didn't have before. I got all my characters restored and all the items returned in the mail, but I got to keep the herbs, the gold, and the maxed out herbalism skill on my druid!

Story time! I started a unique (at the time) 55 slayer 1 attack 1 defence 50-60 strength pure. Low hp slayer staff pure, until I got 60 strength. At the time pking was not very great. There was no money to be made at low levels around me because nobody would skull to risk their obsidian. Long story cut short... I quit the account after due to being demotivated. And started a brand new account. I recovered, logged onto the account over three years later to see it was banned. Reached out to jagex and voila, I have a ruined 40 defence ranger with 130m+ range experience lol. 60m+ in the bank I couldn’t complain. Thanks again jagex

I had a low-level account which I didn't play on for a little over 2 weeks because I was on a holiday. I came back from holiday and wanted to log in to my account to get the notification that the account was in use. After a recovery process I log in to the account and suddenly I had 72 crafting (I had lvl 1 crafting originally) and 2 mil worth of flax and bow strings in the bank. Also, whoever hacked me had activated a bond for my account (my membership ran out when I left on holiday). So I gained 70+ crafting levels, 2 mil GP and 2 weeks of membership from being hacked. At somepoint in 2016 I was hacked on my pure account. Didn't use as when i completed DT just starting doing an ironman or my main. It was like 60 range, 50 mage, 30 str...etc. Well long story short, came back to it maybe 8 months later, it was hacked. Recovered it at castlewars with quests done and with 35k+ blue d'hides, and 30k+ d bones, and tons of there various loot. Also, roughly 15k+ green d'hides. 99 range, 99hp, and like 8m worth of gear. Came back to the game recently and hopped onto the low level account I had played briefly to find that I had 80+ crafting (I have never crafted anything in my life) and it was clearly being used as a flax spinning bot. It was never banned, had a few hundred thousand worth of materials on it and a high amount of GE transactions. This happened to my main on RS3. I recovered my original account when I started playing OSRS. It was maxed, totally maxed. 120s, loads of boss KC, etc. I liquidated everything and swapped it for 350m OSRS cash.

I recovered an old account of mine and when I logged in it not only had membership but it was standing inside the room that banddos spawns at. Sadly it had no pet but there was over 50 ml in the bank so I cleared it and put it on my main account 2 days later I looked at it again and it was back at Bandos again with the exact same gear so I made a hundred mil😂

happened to me too lol. a couple years ago i decides to come back to rs3, but accidentally made an osr account. made it to the last part of tutorial island before realizing i got it wrong and logged out of osr account. a couple weeks ago i decided to give osr pvm a try and log into my osr account. i find it at the GE, buying flax at 3 gp and selling it at 4. overall had 150k in gp and flax. so i put a pin on the bank and changed my password so they cant log back in on my account. pleasant surprise since that gp helped start up the combat xp grind

I had this happen. Brought me up from around 45 mining to 80. Sold my set of zammy rune as well as cleared out my bank. When I got back in I had nothing but a bunch of adamant ore which I sold to get back my rune armor. I've thought about contacting Jagex to see if it's possible to set my level back down to 45.

Pugger, these accounts arnt hacked, they are sold to venni gold farmers, and then recovered a few months later to see what progress had been made. Source - i run a large RWT group and see reports of this weekly, its old news.

This was before RS3. My account was hacked. I don't think it was banned but when I logged back in, they had leveled my defense all the way up. No idea what they were doing. They leveled a few other skills a couple of times, but the defense was like 20 levels higher.

I had my mid level account hacked last year. When I finally recovered it (since I took a few month break and came back to a hacked account.....) it was stood at the Grand Exchange wearing those robes and fan that all the dicers wear, with an additional 3mil in the inventory.

While not RuneScape, I had my WoW account brute forced back in WotLK. I recovered it and found they'd mined shit loads of ores for like, 20k? Gold. They'd bought the cold weather flying skill that I couldn't afford and then sold all the stuff in my guilds vault which we got back. Took ages to filter it all out of the GM mail

My wife quit playing and gutted her bank and gave it all to me, she only had untradeables in her bank I later decided to just turn her into my chin alt since she had decent stats. After finding an error message that her account was already logged on we recovered her account and found it was turned into a demonic gorilla bot until she ran out of arclight charges. They got 2 zanytes in 900 kills. She was then made into a zulrah bot, getting a mutagen and 3600 kills. When recovered the account had 60m on it. Easiest money maker ever, recovering a stolen account

I once got hacked and my account was trained to be a red chin and puro puro bot my hunter went from 1 to somewhere in the 70s. I used that to maintain bonds back when they were 2.3-2.6 mil.

I got hacked and my low level account (my highest skill at the time was in the low 20's) was turned into a cannonball bot. I took a eight months long break and when I came back I discovered that I was banned. After getting my account unbanned I logged in to discover that I went from 14 to 68 smithing. In the span of a month playing after recovering my account I was approached by 3 different players (on members worlds, mind you) asking me what was I doing as I had really high smithing but low stats overall. This was in February of this year so people are definitely keeping an eye out for potential bots and gold farmers.

this happened to me about a week ago when my gf had called me asking if i was playing OSRS and i said no so i checked it out and got my account back but didnt think anything of it , i decided to try out OSRS after finding your youtube today and i found about 725 steel bars, ammo moulder, and about 705 bars standing in front of a furnace with 70 in smithing and some quests ive never touched donewhen i logged in, as well as the simple stuff in the bank and about 118k gold in the bank so it was interesting

I quit back when eoc got released, came back 1 - 1,5 years later to find out my password is incorrect, managed to recover the account, had 800m on it around 300m was in grenwall spikes, and around 180m hunter xp, also had 2 minor bans for botting

I remember back when my account was hacked back when RS3 first dropped. Unfortunately I wasn't in the country at the time and was gone for around 3-4 months. I came back, and a friend wanted to get back into the game, so I tried to log in. No success. I recovered the account, thinking I had just forgotten my password. strange thing is; no bans. No offenses. Nothing.... Until I logged in. Most of my skills had been taken from mids to low 40s to high 80s and mid 90s. There was over 200k flax in the bank, well over 100k cooked lobster and 90k some raw lobsters, and a metric ton of gear, with a lot of it being broken Barrows sets. Obviously it was used as some sort of either banker or a PK bot, I'm not sure which yet. They had also done Every. Single. Quest. Saved me a lot of time. In all I think the amount of gear on the account had made it worth around 900million gold, give or take 100-200 depending on item prices at the time.

My old RS3 main (the one from my childhood) was turned into an Aviansies bot. I logged in after recovering my account one day, and had 99 ranged, defense, and HP.

I had it happen to me with rs3. I had stopped playing for a while pre-eoc and my friend saw that I was logged in. Was able to recover the account. My bank was cleaned out although I had a million gp (never had that much before), runecrafting, fishing, and fletching were trained up, and I had membership on it.

I've recovered a f2p ranged 2h pure about a year after it got banned. It was 93 mining and had 10 mil in ores. Turns out mining rune ore in f2p wilderness is really fun. I get some super interesting fights with the other accounts I keep there.

i experienced the same zulrah thing. Got hacked, couldn't log in after recover, it was banned for botting. Appealed it, recovered it and saw that my zerker even gained 10 defence levels. It botted zulrah for thousands of kills and i got +-55M Profit.

My account was hacked/botted and banned back in 2015/2016 or so, at the time there was no appeal process because it basically said "You're permanently banned and cannot appeal" Now I see this video of yours I was able to appeal...Wish me luck! I saw what looked like another F2P bot farm in Lumbridge. Was switching worlds on my F2P alt account and noticed these accounts with full Adamant, a Rune Scimitar and a Power Amulet training on giant frogs near the Zanaris shack. I hopped between a few worlds and saw the same type of build on each of them.

Had created an Ironman years ago when it first began then completely forgot about it because I quit RS entirely around 2 years ago. Randomly decided to log in one day into my main account and type in my other accounts names through the clan chat.. seen that the Ironman was online and in the clan chat. I immediately recovered it to find that they had gotten 20ish mining to 93.

The alt I made and checked on randomly got banned. I logged in to have it banned and after getting it unbanned had 2 days of members left on it. I went to the bank to find about 1k magic logs and my woodcutting had gone from 25ish to 79 and I had a dragon axe. I traded it all to my main for profit and now use it to cut wood, and fish for extra income.

Something similar happened to me in the hayday of WoW. I went to one of those "free wow gold, input user and pass" websites. Quit a week later before anyone tried to log into my account. About a year later I logged back in at it had clearly been used for mine/herb runes and I had an insane amount of gold. They also rolled back the inventory space to before the hacker cashed out so I had full stacks of ore in my bank and bag slots.

I sold my rs3 account for $300 and recovered it about 2 years later, ended up going from 9 99's to 14 99's and over a billion gp. When I recovered it, it was inactive for 3 months. I waited a week for the bank pin to get removed and transferred all the gp to my osrs account. The guy even has his credit card saved on the account for membership.

At the start of trailblazer my friend got hacked, he was a level 20 account. Came back 3 days later and somebody botted to get 80 hunter and had 1700 chins in his inventory.

When i was hacked and restored my account after 3 years, the support said they had removed any gained items and rolled back any levels gained from the botting.

Recently came back to the game after a few months of having a break. When I left I had 79 magic and 5m in the bank. After recovering my account I found that it's been turned into a zulrah bot with 2,955 kc, 93 magic and 35m. Not too bad considering my next goal was to prepare my account for zulrah so I can complete the hard diaries :P

January 2020 i started playing osrs fully by making a new account as i previously had played before osrs was a thing. Back then it was just Runescape. So i leveled up the account and after a week or two of playing, i remembered that i actually had an osrs account, before i made my current main. I tried logging in and i found out it was banned for macroing. The account was made in like 2014 or 2015 and i just never played it after tutorial island i guess. I plead the case to Jagex saying, i havent been using the account (i know that doesnt matter to them, account remains banned usually) and they actually lifted the permanent ban, seeing as the offense happened almost 5 or 6 years ago and thought i was a reformed player and that i wouldnt do it again, giving me a second chance. I FINALLY login and open the stats tab and to my surprise i found out it had 99 fishing and almost nothing in the bank except for some fishing gear and big sharks. Someone hacked the account and made it into a fishing bot and got 99 fishing. Unreal.

My account was hacked about 3 years ago for botting, I’m mostly happy that my skills have stayed relatively the same(aside from some stats looking a bit high, even for me). When I finally got ahold of my account, it was used for Buying and Selling a LOT of stuff on the Grand Exchange when I checked the buy/sell history. I am both sad and happy my account was banned, and that it was hopefully caught early after being hijacked. I feel for those coming back to find their skills 99’d. I prefer earning my levels. It would be nice to have an “unlevel” option for skills, like, for events like these. If you really want to go back to a certain level, I suppose.

This happened to me actually, I unfortunately don't have screenshots, but some friends noticed my account logging in at strange times and not talking with anyone in the cc I frequented. I changed the credentials and thought I was safe before taking an extended break. When I came back the account was banned. Skipping forward a few years, Jagex changed their account recovery policy and I was able to log in finding 91 str and around 300 green d hides and bones. Everything else worth anything had been sold off. Since the stats weren't mine, I actually decided to abandon the account. It might seem nice to some that they log in to a free couple mill xp, but to me it meant I was robbed of that experience and it felt wrong to continue the account. This was actually the biggest contributor to why I play an Iron account now. I keep an eye on my old accounts now, using a script to track my own xp gains on the Highscores to make sure nothing changes while I'm gone. Its an idea I got from another video of yours where botters were using it to verify who was botting. I put the script on a server and it just emails me if the xp changes on the account. Probably overkill especially for an account I don't use, but its also where my rs3 main (pre eoc) was which means its over 10 years old now and was a significant part of my childhood. Anyways just thought I'd share, love the vids! : )
