If you're wondering what the black bars are on the side of some of the shots, I shoot in open-gate (taller footage) so that's just what the HDMI signal from my camera looks like. For the custom scenes, I resized the footage to fit. The more you know.

This is an incredible product that was finally put in focus in this video. I watched a bunch of other videos and none nailed it like you did here. What you did in 10 minutes other could not explain in 20 and 30 minutes. It's a streaming PC. That's its actual use case. It's just missing the full twitch integrations. Not having 4K is a bummer, but it would probably be in the $1800-2000 region. For 1200 to have a device that just works and gets out of the way, I'd say it's actually worth it. 4K at $2000 would also be worth it with the same number of inputs and expansions that this currently has. I'm not the target for this product, but I can appreciate good craftsman ship, that this brings to market.

For me? NOPE For the 99.9% of streamers? NOPE For people who do cooking shows or are in a shop doing woodworking? HELL YEAH For those radio shows that are converting to podcast and most of the times they also have a few cameras for they guests? This is THE DEVICE
@god0tАй бұрын
Why not for all streamers? You think it's overkill, right?
@CatharsisYTАй бұрын
@@god0tI'd say "underkill". Let's be real, you aren't going to beat OBS for streaming flexibility. It can do a lot obviously, but like he said, no browser sources and limits popular effect integration OBS has since the inputs aren't local to OBS. You could pipe it in as a virtual input source, but then you can't apply specific things to specific angles. If they included an OBS plug-in integration to allow for that, then hell yeah it'd be brilliant for streamers

Thanks for this excellent video - nobody presented this quite as well and concisely as you did! Rode: No 4K, no interest! If streaming is all you do, ok. But, if you also produce high quality content that is not for live streaming, then you want 4K and this becomes a real hassle: rewire and reconnect your complete set up each time? At least two video inputs should be 4K - then it would be perfect!
@SenpaiАй бұрын
The lack of 4k is a big bummer. My guess is that the main issue isn't the cost of the capture inputs, but that it will record 7 video files at once (the cut version and each input). Bumping all 7 simultaneous recordings up to 4k would require a TON more processing power, on top of the higher end capture inputs. This would be even more expensive than I initially thought.
@daggerman-dcgkАй бұрын
@@Senpai Yes, but that is a choice for the user to make, right? Zero 4K inputs as a solution because seven 4K inputs would produce too much data, does not appear to be a smart choice. I deeply appreciate the dedication and effort shown by Rode here-this switcher/production box leads the way into the future! But, without 4K, I doubt that this will sell very well and I guess it will be forgotten within a year or two. But: super excited for the future 4K version of this and, even more excited for a future RodeCaster and RodeCaster Duo with two 4K Video inputs and basic switching functionality! WOW! Rode, please hurry up on those devices! We are waiting! 😁

Can it display all 4 inputs (say, as a split screen) at once?
@javiera.vicini4231Ай бұрын
I think the reason why it only has 1080p 60 inputs it's because it's mostly designed for streaming. Streaming at 4k is a very high quality stream that requires a lot of upload speed, which is not available everywhere. Also, most devices nowadays support 1080, so that also makes it more universal.

Have you tested how it handles RGB colors from a computer source? All switchers in the Atem Mini series have issues with colors when a computer is connected to one of the inputs due to the legal color range (16-235 instead of 0-255), making light gray completely white and dark gray completely black.
@NintyPrimeАй бұрын
Yeah, it's my main complaint with the ATEM, is if you want to use a port to display a computer or something for simpler management, especially for live productions - the colors aren't correct and you can't fix it. It's fine for most standard cameras, so I end up needing to import my laptop, as an example, via a separate capture card which just adds additional costs and more points of failures in the pipeline. I currently have the ATEM Mini, a Elgato HD60s, some cheap knock off external, and the 4K aver media interal card. I also have an extra camlink laying around, though I have had a lot of issues with them randomly disconnecting so I took it out of my workflow. But as you can tell, that's 7 inputs. I don't always use them all, but something that can simplify would be swell. I also have two extra inputs that are just USB cameras. In the end, I have a fairly complex setup for my live shows and this could help simplify some of it, even if it has a very steep learning curve. Sounds like once I have it setup the way I want, it can be a set and forget solution where I turn on and off certain things (like auto switching) when I feel like it.
