I like the idea that it’s sanguinious’s ability to see into the future that he wasn’t suposed to get since the blood angels all seem to feel it in there nature to be flying in the sky . On the other hand while a significantly higher number than average blood angels have future sight it’s significantly less common

I believe the wings were actually intended, and it was the foresight that was the surprise to the Emperor. In Valdor's book, Samonas is rushing into the lab to stop Astarte and describes the vials of geneseed, including ones with "a drop of blood surmounted by stylized wings". This was before Valdor is told that the Emperor now believes the primarchs were scattered, and the Blood Angels were going to be called the Revanant Legion, so that makes me think he did give Sanguinius the power of flight. I think the mention of him possibly being changed by the enemy and not directly answering if he had made the wings was the Emperor playing on Sanguinius' insecurity regarding them, for the reason Lorgar had mentioned: him being unsure if the wings were a sign of corruption caused Sanguinius to try harder to be a good person.

The crazy thing is his wings aren’t what give him the power of flight, they only help with manoeuvring and his ability of flight comes from his psykic powers.

either that or the Emperor foresaw aspects of the legions/primarchs while not actually engineering them. The astartes themselves possessed traits that were fairly obviously a result of a more extreme trait in the primarch, be it the canis helix or simply just enhanced aggression.

The proto primarch had wings as well the emperor hoped this would be the symbol he hoped for he was too powerful even for the emperor

Great video! It is sad that, when Sanguinius got the Emperor's agreement to leave his people alone, it was then interpreted as "leave Baal as a radioactive hellhole" for far too long. The Angel didn't want his people to be condemned for thinking him a god - he didn't mean to have them left without assistance to make things better. Baal was in an even worse state than Chemos, but surely with time and effort, it could have been improved. Yes there are challenges to living in a tough environment, but irradiated starvelings make for few new Astartes.

Master of Mankind gave me about all I needed. The tongue in cheek confirmation of the star child in End and Death gave me more than I could hope that they will have some campy marvel star lord star child emperor closer to Bruva Alfabusa's image of the Emperor that the author of Eye of Terror that Bayley wanted to put in the Universe... Star Child doesn't even wanna rule, just wants to meme. Woulda been 'eavy metal, my friend. Gold and good hair. I ask too much of the grim darkness by hoping for Bayley's Rogue Trader version of star child.

The Emperor has a human heart, human instincts for compassion and attachment. I think seeing a living, breathing part of yourself lights the spark of love, even if you're a narcissist..

It's too bad that GW didn't create a backstory like this for Ferrus. I get it that the giant angel guy is inherently more interesting than almost everybody else, but someone needs to do a solid Ferrus book. Sanguinius so surprised big E that he had to do the math in his head on the fly. My dude, big E NEVER DOES MATH ON THE FLY. Wings? Unplanned. Foresight, unplanned. Baal being "left alone" unplanned. All this was unplanned.

Angels wings, in my head, are the twisting of the warp, but ecen twisting him he is still good and pure. Thus, he is changed but it shows on the outside what he is on the inside.

Im not sure if the wings are a machination of the warp, but wouldn’t the whole vampiric side of all this also come from Khorne? It would be pretty hard to give someone a thirst for blood and not have the literal embodiment of spilling blood involved lol.

It is extremely common for Primarchs to gain total autonomy for their own worlds. Except for the Lion. He cared very little for Caliban and its traditions.

You’re forgetting the glaring example of Angron. Not that he would’ve sought Nuceria’s autonomy, but he couldn’t have even if he wanted to. Makes me curious why the Imperium ended up leaving the planet alone after the Butchers Nails were discovered in his brain. I don’t believe there’s any lore around it either.

Because he didn´t want them to live under the cruelest regime possible. Sanguinius trusted his people to eventually lift themselves out of the radioactive squalor of Baal, but he wasn´t too confident in their ability to defy the Emperor and survive.

@@DieZweckgemeinschaftemperor’s rule was not cruel. The opposite. Perhaps you could call his conquest cruel… but not his rulership of what he conquered. Almost ALWAYS he bettered those he conquered. By sharing of technology and bringing end to cruel, superstitious practices, introducing advancement and progression.

Because, perhaps more than any other primearch he didn’t look down on base humanity. He had a measure of respect extending to those who deserved it. He didn’t see humans as beings to rule over like Horus or protect like Vulkan. If someone is aught to make a decision regarding how they will live, it should be the people themselves.
