@lawrencejelsma81182 жыл бұрын
@@alexkoronec4326 ... He said less was more early on. George Lucas had to get the movie condensed to edits so the movie audience didn't have to spend minutes to hours in movie theater seats. The less of a movie creativity wise made us all fill in any missing blanks. That was the magic behind EP IV in 1977's ANH. Nobody cares back then about any Prequels to what we were watching. George Lucas had us all fill it in in our minds until 1999. The absence of not seeing the Wampa but seeing only the flaying furry arms knocking Luke Skywalker off and into the snow and then his Taun Taun down (behind the scenes) made the later footage of seeing the Wampa eating parts of the Taun Taun later on better. Later in the movie as Luke Skywalker wakes up from being knocked out the new reveal really added to that shocking horrific bloody scene, even more where we too were frantic for Luke Skywalker to escape ice melted to the Wampa cave (another we didn't see how the Wampa did it but we can speculate moment). Personally I'm glad George Lucas edited all that out because I didn't want to personally see an overcrowded Wampa world affected by rebellion interference being on their planet. The movie goers in 1983 agreed in ROJ that the Republic of the emperor invading and changing the Ewoks lifestyles was wrong also.

Wow this is the first time I’ve seen the deleted scenes with the Rebel troops shooting at the Wampa and it chasing R2! I’m glad that they cut the scenes out--part of what made the original trilogy great is how well it was edited. Editing is certainly an underrated, lost art.

I was there when Empire came out in theaters. I was 12 at the time, and I had read that George created the Wampas to create a sub-diversion to cover up Mark's auto accident during the end of New Hope & Empire, that permanently scarred his face. It was written into the script that Luke's face and body would be mangled by the Wampas, thus resulting in a different look for Luke. Again, all speculation, but what if? I truly believe that if Mark's accident hadn't have happened, the Wampas might've never come to be. 45 years later, and the questions continue. Great vid. Love your saber-work, btw. Keep em coming. There's a reason this scene, among others in Empire and Jedi, were cut. It kills the flow and would look stupid. The whole Wampa scene was thought to kill the forward momentum of the film. It was also thought to really bring down the mood. It was something Lucas said about the time in the fanzine. That sometimes scenes had to be left out because of the flow of the story. Excitement, headlong rush into mystery, and the sense there are things going on all around you just out of sight (like on a real station).

@@StarWarsAnalyst yes. Seeing Biggs early is nice, but only as background curiosity. However, I can't say the same for deleted scenes from the second and third prequels. Not only does this totally destroy the flow but leaves out much of the motivation behind the main characters. It is the next logical step. Tbh, it was the logical step when Disney bought SW. Instead of remaking the originals with new actors and kind of making it more their own, they went with just adding to preexisting canon which did not go over well with OG fans. It mostly didn't go over well because it was a continuation but the same basic storyline as ANH. Favorite characters were killed, not given "respect", etc. Not to mention the obvious pandering to the woke culture element that was included throughout, there was also no plan whatsoever, JJAbrams made a movie, then RianJ. made most of episode 7 not matter but killing snoke/destroying Kylo's helmet/Rey's parents are nobodies/etc, then JJAbrams tried to retcon all his stuff from the first movie while digging at RianJ. ("A Jedis weapon deserves more respect') it was just a pissing contest between 2 overpaid directors who couldn't write a decent story. Sorry I wrote so much, the bottom line is that they really should have from the start just remade all the originals starting with 4-6.

Dude, I just found your channel and I'm loving the deleted scenes. I've seen some but not some of these. Knowing how people reacted to the special edition changes, I still would've liked to have seen them remade and added. Nice job.

I first saw this scene as a meme on FB. I thought it must've been a parody or a fan film of some kind. Imagine my surprise upon learning there was all this footage I've never seen before!

Great video - years ago Anthony Daniels spoke about how disappointed he was when his scenes ripping off the warning sign was cut because it was hard to move in his costume.

You're right, it would have been really cool to have seen that on the big screen. It would have given my friends and I so much more to act out on the playground. Oh to be a 6 year old in 1980. Great times!

Absolutely amazing 🤗 35 years old, and this video just brought back all the feelings from when they rereleased the trilogy and I wore out the vcr finding all the new stuff. Amazing! Got 3 boys now, they're all Jedis

I always loved the wampas in ESB this would been an awesome sub plot in the beginning of the movie. This would have been great to see some more of the creatures up close within the starwars universe

I’ve always wished they put that warning sign scene in somehow. I’ve gotta think there could totally be a long (er) version of TESB with the Hoth escape segments in. Would be so wizard.

I remember reading the novelized version of the script shortly after the original movie came out. It had a wampa scene in it where ice falls fr the ceiling onto R2, complete with a wampa's face looking down.
