First, you are a lucky man to have a wife who not only wants to off road with you, but is eager to learn the technical aspects as well. My wife wants no part of off roading, which bums me out a bit. Second, by far, your channel is THE BEST off road channel out there! I really enjoy watching them and learning from them, as I'm a novice myself. Keep up the good work, and happy trails!!!

Wow! My Dad was a mining engineer. He worked for the Santa Fe railroad. His company truck was a 1972 Chevy Blazer 4x4. From ages 13-18, I'd go out into the field with him on school breaks. Spent many weeks out near Kingman and in Chloride. We'd also go camping. As soon as I saw the first ruins, I knew that we had been there. Thank you for bringing back that memory for me, HMCM!

Brad, I enjoyed the area in this video. I worked in this area for over 25 years. I graded the power lines that are closer to I-10 that belong to the water district. In fact some of that water goes to San Diego. I bladed those for about eight years, then I became the supervisor for the equipment operators for about 17 years. I wore out 5 4x4 pickups in that time. I never did know any history about the Red Cloud Mine

I enjoyed this video, Brad. In 1969 or 1970, two buddies and I set out to find the spot in the Chuckwalla Mountains where Dr. Edmund C. Jaeger found and was the first to document a bird, in this case a common poorwill, in a state of torpor approaching hibernation. We met Dr. Jaeger at his home in Riverside and he described, in exquisite detail without the aid of notes, how to navigate to the exact location. This would be impressive, but not remarkable, except that the good doctor was in his 80’s, having been born in early 1887, about the time the Red Cloud Mine shut down. We wrote the directions down and, a week later, followed them in my CJ to the precise spot in the northern Chuckwallas. The Edmund C. Jaeger Nature Sanctuary memorializes the discovery. The Sanctuary is located less than six miles approximately due north of the main Red Cloud diggings that you and Regena explored. I remember Dr. Jaeger describing trekking every spring from Riverside to Palm Springs on foot with his burros - one of the first “4WD conveyances”. He described Palm Springs as consisting of 18 adobe structures in those days. He became the world’s expert on desert wildflowers, traveling around the world describing and drawing desert plants, several of which are named after him. Thank you for this video!

Brad - Awesome episode with Regina! It’s inspiring to see you getting out and teaching her some essential skills. Mining lingo for future productions: mine shafts are vertical; an adit is a horizontal mine entry. Adits are especially common in sedimentary rock mining where minerals have accumulated in discrete layers. E.g., the abandoned uranium mines in SE Utah and SW Colorado.

What do you think is the lowest psi a tire should be inflated for off road use? I’m new to off roading and I get why you deflate, 16psi just seems low to me and I worry about the sidewalls getting damaged. I live in Southern NM and we have lots of County Roads that are fairly smooth and wonder what speed would you start damaging the tire at low psi? What is your recommended psi range for off-roading? Obviously once you are done off-roading you should air up before heading back up on asphalt. I really like the Coyote Deflators and probably be getting some soon. Love your videos

Brad, enough of the good job, great video comments. Lol. You're Awesome at story telling and videography. This time my comment pertains to what I think is probably the most important hidden message in this video. It's the love, humility, and desire to spend time with the one you love, doing what you love to do. So many people in this world aren't as blessed. Recently I had a friend (ex friend) who didn't treat his wife or family well. Now she's with God (cancer) and he has no connection with his one and only son. That story which played out over a year reminds me everyday of how blessed I'm am for my wife, and children. And like you and many of us, a jeep is at the center of the adventures. To those watching and reading, count your blessings and use a jeep to bring families together and explore. This simple day trip is an example of how taking just a few hours out of busy schedules is all that's needed to find peace. And you probably don't have to drive very far from home if you look hard enough. God Bless you and Regina for sharing this time.
