Not really. I bought a house with a beat down rusted fence. I installed a new chain link fence with a padlocked gate. Why? To keep my two LARGE dogs and two small dogs from roaming and causing trouble. The fence was six feet tall. Our yard was landscaped and big, one acre. Our dogs never got out one time. But the neighbors hated that fence. They protested at the city hall meetings. I had permits. The fence was professionally installed. Since they couldnt control the fence issue they then tried to kill my dogs. Feeding them contaminated food causing illness. Feeding one a peanut butter covered sponge resulting in surgery. Snatching one old little one and taking her to the pound as a stray. As soon as I couldnt find her I called there and sure enough a person matching my neighbors description had brought her in. Some people just arent socialized well enough to have neighbors. Fence or no fence.

So many of these dog/fence cases could have been easily avoided by simply being proactive. Making sure there is a secured fence that your neighbours potentially dangerous dogs can’t penetrate is a basic safety measure.

My neighbour has a big dog who has been a difficult train. I'm uncomfortable with the dog and don't feel he is safe around my child. She's a great neighbor and never brings the dog out when my child is playing, uses a combination of crates and prong collars and gates/fences to control him when he is outside. If we're having kids over to play we let her know and she's always great about ensuring he's gone out before the kids arrive. She does this to protect my child but also to protect her dog, she loves him enough not to set him up to fail and to be vigilient with him when he is outside. I wish more dog owners were so responsible.

@overcomingthat2728
@overcomingthat2728 25 күн бұрын
@@LissyVee For the record I don't support animal abuse. But when push comes to shove and a dog is biting another dog, (or child) hitting the aggressive dog on the nose will startle them enough to let go so you can pull the dog or child away. Trying to pull the dog or child away from the biting dog causes their instincts to kick in, so they bite down harder and start to shake, which causes more damage to the victim. Again I don't support punching dogs in normal circumstances but again if the dogs being aggressive it's the least damaging thing to do for both the biting dog and the victim.

In our other house, we had a 4 ft. Picket fence. When our new neighbors moved i, they had a German shepherd that I didn’t trust. We had 3 dogs at the time, 2 were small. So in order to avoid a future disaster, I stapled/nailed rabbit wire from the ground to the highest area on the fence, on our side of the fence. You couldn’t see, it but it was there. Stopped my little dogs from being able to put the heads or noses through the fence. You have to be smarter than the dogs and be proactive in protecting your pets.

Defendant dogs did nothing wrong. However I always supervise my dogs. Dogs are not people m unless the dog have a job to do everyday, the dog will find one. Depends on dog personality too. Each dogs have their own traits. The plaintiff should have done a better job in training or supervised their dogs. Knowing it's rottie on other side of the fence.

The dogs have been raised or allowed to be guarding the property, not by barking but by attacking. That's down to the people. Whichever side was the most recent one to move in should have gone round to their new neighbours and said you have dogs, we have dogs, let's train them to be used to each other so they don't set each other off (let alone bite). Blame the humans not the dogs.

I used to take my cat outside on a leash in my houses tiny shared yard. Then my upstairs neighbor got a pitbull mix. He has never attacked anyone but he barks viciously at my cats through the window. He does not go after stray cats on the street, other dogs, or people on a walk but that doesn’t mean he won’t go after my cat who he barks at. I haven’t taken my cat out because I love her. It makes me sad not take her out and she cries for me to take her out. But it is too much of a risk.

Both sides knew the fence was inadequate. They should split the cost of the vet bill and to amend the fence so it doesn’t happen again. Even if the dogs head was partially through, I couldn’t imagine being the owner of three dogs which tag teamed and mutilated this other dog and not even offer any sort of empathy. Rotties are extremely strong and stubborn breeds. You can say you do all the training but in the end an animal will always have those instincts.

Where were the owners of the 3 dogs. If you want a dog to disengage, you grab the back of the collar and lift straight up in the air and they will let go. Not back or side, not by grabbing their heads. Straight up. The collar puts pressure on the throat, will cut the air supply and they automictically disengage. Something all dog owners should know. The first thing they taught me when I started volunteering for a dog rescue. I also had a business rescuing rattlesnakes, but most of them don't have collars. 😜😂
