In Forza Horizon, in addition to the feeling of the accelerator, the Apex 3 also provides different vibration feedback on impact, simulating the sensation of the track's surface being covered in asphalt, gravel, or mud. This is highly recommended when playing PC games. But mobile gamers shouldn't need to upgrade their Apex 2, unless battery life is more important than number of keys.

For those planning to get more than 1 controller, the Flydigi Apex 3 dongle can connect to other Flydigi Apex3s. Example controller 1 will also connect to controller 2's dongle. It may cause issues when trying to connect 2 controllers via 2 dongles. I did not encounter this issue with Apex 2's dongles. I found out about this as the dongle that came with my Apex3 went through a bad firmware update. I went back to the store and the staff suggested I try their display set's dongle. My controller was able to connect to the display set's dongle. Unfortunately, as there was already one faulty dongle, I was unable to test connecting both my controller and the display set via both dongles concurrently.

I wonder why there was such a change from the Apex 2 to the Apex 3. I thought the BXY slider was cool, though could've included Y as well, along with the C and Z buttons, as I wish more controllers would return to a six action button layout, I also like the inclusion of additional shoulder buttons on controllers, though personally I think they could all use better implementation than what I've seen so far. I don't really understand the display and the light box on this controller, seems gimmicky and a glorified battery waster, though I do really like the translucent front shell with an opaque detailed shell underneath it, more companies should look at this approach to aesthetics. I wonder what's going on with that dpad though, interesting design that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, I wonder if an earlier prototype of this had a different goal for the dpad but the final version kept the plastic mold but nixed what was originally planned for it. Would've been nice to see a teardown of the trigger mechanisms, Flydigi has a graphic of the 'internals' but they don't really explain anything, I think the pots are implemented as an encoder for the motor but there's no good way to tell without seeing inside them, though this would make sense as they're using typical two-wire DC motors; I'd just hate to see how long those pots last, we all know how modern pots can't hold up to stick gameplay for more than a few months, these motors are going to be a lot more intensive, plus pots in this use really are not a proper implementation as they should be using proper encoders instead. I think the triggers are interesting in concept, but implementation is a bit lackluster without API support; though I'm _extremely_ surprised that Sony is allowing the haptic trigger implementation on PC, I thought they would've walled that off as a PS5-only feature, but knowing that their in-house controller API and game coding still allows for these commands to output, there might be hope for a modified app to support them, I'm hoping Steam Input eventually has support for this as well, as well as the haptic engine rumble and Xbox's trigger rumble, and other atypical features. Though FlyDigi's software implementation worries me, modded game files in online games, especially GTA V and RDR2, and pretty much any online game, _will_ end up with account bans; I know there's not a decent way to go about this without a proper native API to enable the haptics, but they're walking a very dangerous line. Honestly, what needs to happen industry-wide is the adoption of Steam Input, as it is by far the most capable and easiest to implement API, not to mention its extra features and input API agnosticism, it's really the only way forward considering Sony wants a walled garden of tech, Nintendo does whatever they want even if sensors go entirely unutilized, and Microsoft outright _refuses_ to expand Xinput to have features that aren't even considered modern anymore such as gyro; industry-wide adoption of SI-API would allow first parties to do whatever they want, while also allowing consumers to have the feature sets they want, there'll eventually be another convergence point where all controllers have the same base set of advanced features, such as advanced haptic engines instead of HD rumble, advanced trigger haptics, etc., might as well get ahead of the curve and adopt a flexible API that allows different variations of these to work on all systems.

Great video. Really detailed to the point of even opening the controller ! I recently got the Apex 3 from the 12th Dec sale. I wanted to support FlyDigi but had to return it after just two days because there was an issue with the right adaptive trigger. It had a funny sound and it did not move as much compared to the left which was working fine. I too have the Apex 2. After I returned it, the seller asked me to consider buying again since the issue is a pretty unlucky one. I hesitated to buy it again. Build quality and the translucent cover is its strongest pull factor. I love the sticks on the Apex 2 and Apex 3 had the same. The Dpad is really really good. I tested it with Street Fighter V. The Apex 2 had the issue with diagonals and I could never jump forward when I wanted to. It was frustrating. Because I play less FPS games and like you said, playing an action adventure game would require me to change settings for just a particular weapon, it made no sense to me. Flydigi would have to keep updating the games for a bit. FlyDigi's weakness is turbo buttons. They do not even allow a different profile to be set for turbo on their normal buttons (so that you can just switch to it). No, turbo is via macro programming and that means, you can only program the extra M buttons for that. Supposed you wanted six buttons to be turbo, with the Apex 3, you can't, as you only have 4 M buttons. However, the fact that I have to press a backbutton just to activate turbo is weird to me. Much better to just have a turbo switch. Frankly, the Apex 2 is really good for what I need. I just have to swap out for fighting games. Hence, I had to really consider if I wanted to buy the Apex 3 just for fighting games and the triggers. However, for Street Fighter, I much prefer the Retrobit's official Sega Controller's six button layout. In the end I decided to find another controller and settled on 奕狐绘梦二代 this second gen elite controller kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2qbpXeqg6mog5Y. The only reason to buy the Apex 3 over the Apex 2 is if you are going to play a game that primarily uses the d-pad. I hope Flydigi makes a better d-pad version of the Apex 2 or Vader 2 so we don't have to choose between d-pad and number of buttons. *edit* I got the Apex 3 today, but am sad to report that reWASD has yet to add support for it. Long story short, it's useless until then since there is no other way to use the extra buttons as unique buttons. On the bright side, the controller feels great, the d-pad diagonals feels good, and the software-based trigger stop feature is very cool.

some game dont need to keep app running. not sure about every game that support adaptive trigger. They don't implement the adaptive trigger in the same way. and wireless with adaptive trigger on yes. also a really big problem that you should know is that the adaptive trigger is rely on the devoloper of the controller, they kind of like having survey in routine to decide what game should they work on support adaptive trigger. which mean Adaptive trigger doesn't support as many games as most people expected.

Bought a Flydigi Apex 2 for about a year ago. Don't buy Chinese controllers. Really bad durability, quality control and inexistent warranty. Had to learn that the hard way.
