good morning! i have discovered another bedtime story for you guys after my research paper on oli london and xiang nishi. this time we’re talking about a korean woman named hong yuh reum who was a big fan of miranda kerr - an Australian super model. she loved her so much that she decided to become her by getting plastic surgery to have a more western look. kinda reminds me of a certain someone that’s related to the smiling titan who is also a fan of jimin from bts. usually when you're a fan of a celebrity you buy their merch or make a fan account. who knew race change speed runs were so common. @@i_only_simp_for_myself800 realistically, asian eyes are not long and slanted. They're actually just a specific shape, as well as the eyelids that makes them different for the western eye shape but simple minded hooligans only think they look slanted/stretched out 🙄 idk what my point is but just talking facts 😂 well to be fair, i know plenty of girls with naturally lifted eyes, born with it and that's not asian fishing to have uplifted eyes. But to make your eyes look "asian" by removing the eyelids and extending the eyes is just creepy. Sultry, is a different story

She could pass as European in Korea, where people don’t see Europeans so much - it really does have a lot to do with exposure to different faces. A popular Korean-American KZbinr talked about his experience with people not even realising he was half Korean. There’s a similar issue in the Phillipines, where biracial people get mistaken as foreigners, and shop keepers try to scam them for extra money.

I agree with the race thing... but there is something I need to get off my chest here, I am an Indian with natural red hair, fair skin and blue-grey eyes, so I can definitely pass for white-person although whenever I tell people that I am from India, they seems surprised and I do not try change my race for this matter. Although I have seen people making assumptions if you are this particular country then you are ought to have a certain set of features which annoys me a lot. from a Korea Herald article: "The surgery was first developed and performed in Korea by Dr. D. Ralph Millard, an American military plastic surgeon who was stationed in the country during the Korean War (1950-53). Among the very first Koreans who received the particular procedure were Korean war brides who married American soldiers. ..... “I’ve never had anyone asking me if I underwent the surgery in order to look more white,” she said. “I’ve never seen anyone who underwent the procedure for that reason, either. It sounds absurd to me. Caucasians are not the only racial group of people who have double eyelids. If anything, I think those who undergo the procedure want to look like fellow Asians who have naturally creased eyes.” ....“But when you think about it, what the society collectively considers as beautiful ― big eyes, a small face, and perked nose ― are things that many Koreans can’t achieve naturally. The (Western) influence is there, but people don’t question it because the society has very narrowly defined notions of beauty. When everyone wants to look the same way, you think that’s the normal way regardless of its history or meaning.”

in a lot of asian countries, the hyper fixation about looking western/ having western features such as high nose bridges, large and round eyes, and paler skin was due to colonialism during one of the world wars (i think 2). one story i read about was that a european plastic surgeon came to korea and told them that they needed to look european in order to be pretty, when in reality, he was looking for potential brides for noblemen, etc. i think that’s also how the over sexualization and submissive stereotypes about asian women came to be. having pale skin was also linked to wealth and high class even before colonialism because darker skin was “dirty” and it meant you were poor. but idk about white/european people wanting to change their race because there was no societal pressure to look different. they literally *are* the beauty standard in majority of the world.

I have a question to which I would like an answer, I do not do it with bad intentions, it is just that I want to know, why when a Westerner or someone with double eyelids lengthens his eyes with makeup, instantly it's asianfishing but when an asian gets double eyelid surgery, whitening and raised nose that's cute and right? It is known that in order to fulfill the stereotypes of Korea, for example, at least a large part of the population undergoes surgeries, because their "standards" come from the appearance of foreigners, and it is impossible for them to be completely natural by genetics and physique to meet the perfect Korean standard.

fun fact: Changing your appearance through surgery based off of aesthetic alone, is actually called "Cosmetic Surgery". Plastic surgery is used to reconstruct or repair damaged skin - for example, people who have dealt with acid attacks - their facial reconstruction surgery is a type of plastic surgery since they NEED it (it's not purely meant for aesthetic). Cosmetic surgery = want Plastic surgery = need

@@yourfavoritevisual8917 White people aren't seen as the ultimate beauty standard word wide. In Korea and many other Asian countries most wanna look mixed. They want to look Korean and not be discriminated against in Korea for looking ''different and foreign'' but they also want a bit of an ''exotic look'' and having a few ''white'' features gives you an ''exotic'' and often ''s-xual'' look, since white woman and men are often seen as just ''exotic s-xual beings'' in those countries.

It’s actually amazing to me how anyone who spends so much to look like a celebrity never really quite pulls it off, maybe resemblance but never convincing enough to be exact unless they already have similar bone structures and facial similarities. It just shows you how strong someone’s genetics are that there is just such a unique code in your physical makeup making it so hard to physically change. Wanting to look like someone else is bizarre to me tho, just how much someone absolutely hate themselves. Nobody else was born with your face, embrace it.

Black people have NEVER tried to be Asian. Or change their features to Asian. Or appropriate Asian cultures (despite Kpop stealing Black American culture). Some Black people do get butt surgery. However, the majority doesn't get plastic surgery. Because 1. majority of us have natural big butts, lips, small waists; etc. Although, we aren't a monolith. We're quite diverse in our genetics. 2. The majority of us are poor. No matter where we are born, we are systematically oppressed. And discriminated against. Some do bleach their skin. For instance, like certain parts of Africa or the Caribbean. But most of us don't do that shit 😂 I do agree on the hypocrisy part though. Also, no one else on Earth is born with kinky hair. Except the descendants of slaves. Just like how no one else on Earth experienced chattel slavery. Our DNA haplogroup or bloodline is different 💯
