Ariana has presented an innocent personality to the public, but you can clearly see the mean girl in her. Remember “thank you next” video? Based on the movies Mean girl, legally blonde etc… that’s exactly the person I’ve always seen in her. The “innocent to the public, girly girl, all pink, I only care about my myself… mean girl”

I meannnn, yeah, there were definitely tidbits of her character that poked out every now and then on camera, or from people who interacted with her, but I feel like because it wasn't her entire persona (or so it seemed) we ignored it. I stopped being a fan after her "God is a woman" video, where she basically mocked scripture with no remorse or consideration to the Christian community. But I didn't know she was like this. I never took her to be the kind of person to just rip apart somebody's family to have a guy, just because she wanted him, and not care, but I guess she really isn't a good person. This whole revelation has just showed us that she's a selfish person who only cares about herself. She will do what serves her whether it hurts somebody else or not. That's why i no longer listen to her music or follow her anymore... God help her. ❤

I feel like I’ve seen a lot of girl bashing in the name of being a girl’s girl, when women view a woman not being one, especially like the selena and hailey situation, ppl assumed that hailey wasn’t a girl’s girl and used that as a shield to relentlessly bully her for a month. My problem is we don’t know these ppl, and it all seems like projection. A lot of women say they are “girl’s girl” and that they hate “mean girl behaviour” yet, a lot of women make sweeping judgements on women’s behaviour online and use that to be nasty, becoming the mean girl they claim to hate so much. I think being a girl’s girl is important in your personal life, but that disregards the fact that life is messy and people fuck up and make bad decisions. People act so moralistic online especially over personal matters and throw down the gauntlet on people they don’t even know. Obviously the ariana situation is bad, and the wife has every right to feel the way that she feels, but I don’t think has it anything to do us.

Her attitude towards "taking" someone else's man, and not caring is a direct consequence of pride. She was conditioned to think she can act a certain way because she's very pretty (on the outside). She's feels she can do whatever she wants and doesn't care about the consequences other people will face because of it, because she has received as pass for her character and her actions probably her entire life. That's pretty privilege. That ain't nothing, but pretty privilege.

In a nutshell - people can no longer tell the difference between reality or fantasy. It's called the "entertainment industry" for a reason. This is based off fantasy and escapism. You're not supposed to live your lives by it. It's "fun" or "dress up" and all around PR. Women try to become human barbies and men don't realize porn is male fantasy and treat women like porn stars. People would rather play follow the leader than look within, be honest with themselves, and actually be someone they can be proud of.

I’m a proud girls girl!! I am just like other girls while being different because, I’m an individual. I will always support women and want and strive for the best for us. That includes accountability, not because i need male validation (cause who wants or needs that 🤭) but because i will always want and wish for the betterment of women. Girly girl, tomboy girl, trans women, e girls, whatever girl i support you! As long as you’re not committing evil or harm to others, i will support you and always believe in you 🫶🏽 you girlies and femmes are amazing!!

20:04 this was a necessary talking point, as much as we want women solidarity, race definitely plays a part in our disconnect. There race loyalty amongst every other race of women, where as in the black community it’s very weak. Weak gender loyalty and weak race loyalty. We also don’t have as many people in high places to put more of us on so we come to another obstacle. Race impacts our everyday lives whether we acknowledge and accept it or not, being in denial does no one any good it just continues to push the issues we have now

Honestly when all this scandal broke out I saw it as a publicity stunt for promotion... similar to when Brad and Angelina got together. They were hated on so much at first, but from it their film (Mrs. and Mr. Smith) and eventually the rest of their careers skyrocketed into success. If that isn't the case then you're also right about over-estimating celebrities and our expectations for them to do no wrong.

Impressed by the critical analysis of your own generation here, especially for noting the contradictory values that are simultaneously held and constantly promoted. It takes a lot of introspection and self-awareness to realize all this, both of which are tragically rare these days. Especially especially love your point that we can actually listen to people who are telling us publicly who they are and what they want, and should then amend our expectations, beliefs, and defense of them accordingly. I clicked on this video because I’ve been hearing terms like “pick me” more and more, but apparently I’m a bit old (42) to really feel like I grasped what that meant from context alone…so I’ve been curious about it for quite some time. I appreciate finally getting educated on the topic 😊 You are a breath of fresh air, and have just earned a new subscriber. Keep up the good work and independent thinking…I look forward to hearing more. ❤

I was definitely a NLOG when I was younger. I can definitely say it was because of my mother, who HATED other women and thought of men as things to be used to get ahead and not have to work. Not only was she misogynistic but she forbid me from being feminine in any way (boys clothes only, no makeup, no nail polish, no hair color or styling, etc etc). Once I was able to get away from her and reflect on the life I was forced to live, I was able to realize that none of that was really me and I was able to express who I truly am and let go of the misogyny. I've known a lot of 'pick me' women and a LOT of women that tear eachother down and I just avoid/ignore them because it's not who I am, it's not behavior I condone.

oh gosh so true, I never understood how the backlash only started just now, it was obvious so many years ago. That just tells you how many fans are like "OH it's ok to think it but not ok to do it because we are all thinking it secretly, she can't just succeed like that when all the rest of us are behaving"

Stoped watching the second your “pick me” video became about race. Some points are obvious and valid … but I can’t even watch one video where race has to do with something. You can explain a pick me and how race has to with it IN ONE SENTENCE.

okay love. i wanted to talk about girl code and some of the nuances that come along with it. i will not allow you to invalidate my experience with girl code regarding the way i look because it’s very real. as some one who got their start doing commentary mainly focused in the black community, i have studied enough of social and pop culture history to know that this is very real. i only brought it up as a segue to ask other groups of people if they experience girl code in similar ways within their own community. if it hurt you, i’m sorry, it was not an attack, it simply just came up in my research and i happened to be able to relate it to my own life.

@@CamrynElyse Iv have also dealt with it as a Hispanic girl and what I said wasn’t to invalidate you either … but it’s aggravating that every video I watch has to have a huge section on race ESPECIALLY when you didn’t even explain other circumstances first.
