What defines India? Who are we as a nation and how did we get here? Do we have a common ethos as a nation? These are some heavy-weight questions on the Indian identity that captivates my 17-year-old inquisitive mind.
Carl Jung said that the ability to ask questions is the greatest resource in learning the truth. So, my contribution to answering these mystery questions is by asking a series of simpler questions. I will not try to define a purist definition of Indian culture, but ask what is our collective understanding & description of our culture? Do we accept our cultural identity or are unfazed by its existence? Do we own the narrative of our culture? And hopefully in answering these simpler questions unfold the Great Indian Culture Conundrum.

You have a compelling story there Aryaman. Absolutely spot on when you said that we need to own the conversation on our culture. Loved the research behind your TedTalk. As also your poise and delivery. Wish you the very best ahead Aryaman 👍

My understanding of Indian culture is mostly people who are reared with intolerance for blacks and mostly look down upon them unashamedly.

It's sad to read that you feel this way, and I'm sorry if your opinion is based on personal experience. But India is a land with the most diversity and no one group or individual can truly represent us as a cultural group. I'd request you to not paint everyone with the same brush. Each nation is entitled to some rotten eggs that you and I can ignore :)
