I was diagnosed with diabetes when I was 36 years old, l took medication for 10 years, I reversed it, I am 67 years old now and haven’t taken any medication for 20 years. I did by learning and a lot of discipline, lifestyle, diet and exercise. Like all humans I have a sweet tooth and occasionally I eat some sweets, but I mainly stick to berries and I love them, like I said discipline. I use monk fruit and maple syrup very seldom, nobody is perfect, but I stick to my healthy lifestyle because at the end, it’s worth it. Thanks for the valuable information, I love your channel, I always learn something.

Most informative. I watched 1000s of videos to reverse Type 2 Diabetes and obesity without toxic medications. Unaware of deadly consequences narrated here, I had consumed diet drinks and low sugar foods loaded with aspartame and sucralose for decades. None of my docs could diagnose what caused my tinnitus, poor digestion, fatty liver, terrible metabolic syndrome .. neuropathy and extreme T2D. Modern medicine is so horrific that they don't teach about diet, environment, stress, sleep are at the root of every metabolic disease. FDA should be shut down. Consuming only whole organic foods (keto diet) at home and intermittent fasting for the last five years has miraculously cured all that was ailing me. I am off all prescription drugs, much to the surprise of my docs. I do use Stevia and Monk Fruit extracts in very limited amounts. There so much hype against cholesterol and saturated fats, when in fact all organs fail because of insulin resistance, inflammation and oxidative stress caused by highly refined, chemically altered and processed foods .. refined carbohydrates, refined and artificial sugars, refined vegetable oils, refined flour and so on.

I get my sweet from fruit mostly. I have a little all natural ice cream on occasion and go over the limit on the holidays lol. I do have a small bag of monk fruit in the raw for the occasional cup of tea. I thought I would be using it more but I just don't crave sweet like I used to. Hi Doc, Equal was my choice of sweetener and then I switched to Spenda when introduced. I'm 74, 5'10" and 158 lbs. I was told years ago to cut my sugar intake as I was close to pre-diabetes. So I carefully watched my diet. But, I refuse to drink my morning coffee without a sweetener. My cup is actually about 13 ounces and I use 1 1/2 packets of Splenda. That equates to 1 tbsp of sugar. Since I can't add fruit to my coffee I only have two choices. Actually three if your advice is to get use to coffee without sugar which is not going to happen. No wait, there is another choice. Reduce the amount of whatever sweetener I use in my coffee. I'll try that. At most I have two coffees/day. Now, should it be sugar or a sweetener? Just found your channel and I have subscribed. Diabetic? Elderly? Fit? How do you burn sugar? Do you eat foods that are high in potassium and healthy sodium? Often those with water weight gain, for example, are not getting good potassium/sodium pump action on the outside and inside of the cells. There is much to health. I cannot more strongly recommend against using stevia. I think this is the impetus of your querying my initial comment. Of note: we don’t recommend sugar alcohols either. Yacon can be grown and extracted yourself. But again, why not use honey?

@@ToddDouglasFox I am a vegan ,after bein a vegetarian for over 30 years, lately I noticed being tired in the middle of the day and had a look at the glucose goddess book as well as a ketogenic approach to food ,long story short,I never was a mayor sugar eater,candies,cakes etc. so cutting those out was easy,to cut out pasta and bread I had to bring out the good old discipline but then....how do you make a hemp protein shake with zero sweetness to it ? And here is where we come to fructose fruit AND honey have heaps of it I eat berries in the afternoon but I need a small dose of sweetness in the shake( yet) keto had the side effect that I lost some weight which was not what I was aiming for but wasn't unpleasant either,I have pain in my hands for some years now and I am pretty sure this is not carpal tunnel syndrome even if the doctor says so I am trying to look after the gut and the liver because there must be some inflammation going on and sugar seems to be one player at this now when we say honey,ist there really a mayor difference between conventional and raw? Here is my question about stevia that no one has been able to answer. When you buy fruit, and see that a bug might have chewed a little on some of the fruit, that is a good thing as it is usually a sign that the fruit is organic. But with stevia, I have been growing it for years, no bugs ever chew on the leaves. Why not? If the bugs don’t want it, should I be using it? So, for that reason, I haven’t grown it for two years. Also, the stevia in the stores, even when it says that it is raw….isn’t. It is green. It’s a leaf. But the store stevia is always white. Nope, that’s not right. Plus, what you buy in the store doesn’t even taste like stevia.
@pattycarljackson6 ай бұрын
It doesn’t matter what a bug want, bugs don’t want a lot of things whether it’s organic or not, organic doesn’t mean much even on organic food you will find pesticides. Bugs eat feces, are you going to go out and eat feces next, no.

Erythritol is made naturally in the body. Why do I have a severe allergic reaction to it? It is the only ingested ingredient that I have an allergic reaction to. (I react to inhaled anhydrous ammonia, found out during a industrial accident). But Erythritol causes throat swelling itchy blotchy skin. Which means I have to check carefully for it in other things I eat.

I can't get allulose, as it's banned in the UK, for some mysterious reason. I tried stevia for the first time recently ... it's absolutely vile! Erythritol tastes OK (you get used to the mintiness eventually, and the laxative effect), but it's ridiculously expensive, as are pretty much all sweeteners, frankly. Ultimately I just went back to using honey, but I limit my intake to 3 teaspoons max per day. The cheap white label stuff, that's literally made in China, is not honey, it's fake, basically just honey-flavoured corn syrup, but still fraudulently labelled as "honey". However, there's really cheap Polish stuff in huge jars that really is raw honey. It's a bit grainy, but perfect for tea/coffee. I'm not going back to weird tasting sweeteners.

These are great videos, super intense, because of all the information, but great, if you pause it frequently to allow your brain to process it all. My first takeaway from this is that none of these sweetners are good, but some are decidedly worse. The one thing I wish you had added was to categorize these sweeteners into groups. My takeaway is that some, such as saccharin, sucralose, and aspartame should be avoided at all times. Some of the others, such as stevia, sugar, erythritol, and monk fruit extract are ok, so long as you keep the quantities small. Personally, I eat very little sugar, and have a healthy body weight, but I have a friend who is seriously overweight, and I'm trying to help him. I have concluded that his biggest problem is that he works construction, and drinks about 6 bottles of Gatorade a day, which are very high in sugar. I was trying to find an alternative for him, but rejected all the zero calorie ones because of the sucralose. This video confirms that my current recommendation is probably OK, one that has 1/4 the sugar, plus a little monk fruit extract. I found another that contains stevia, and I may recommend that he drinks 3 plain water, 2 of the sugar/monk fruit, and 1 of the stevia a day. That will give him 1/12 as much sugar as he was getting, but will still give him the minerals he needs to work in the sun, plus not too much of any one sweetner. Thank you for these fine, very, very informative videos.

What was the Gatorade substitute with monk fruit? We use monk fruit in our coffee but work outside a lot and would like a drink like that.
@carlr28374 ай бұрын
@@PapaA7145 It was a brand called "Hydrant". It does contain some sugar, but only 4g per serving, much less than Gatorade. I found it to be very acidic, however, and it was irritating my gums, so I add about 1/8 teaspoon of baking soda to partially neutralize it, and it is fine. The one with stevia was LMNT, which contains no sugar, but a lot of salt. I bought both on Amazon.
