I honestly believe that the original leaks were real but then they changed them up on the spot to punish both the leaker and everyone who threw a bitch fit about the redesigned six.

it was more likely a marketing decision. it would be harder to market the gen 5 movie to both the new audience and old if they were just the redesigned mane 6. the new audience would think it was just a reboot of a long-running cartoon, and the old audience would be upset that their favorite characters were changed so much.

Maybe... And like, what if the Mane 6 just wasn't supposed to be rebooted like that? FiM served its purpose, now the spirits of the Mane 6 needs to be able to move on and be set free, but we can't if we're still in the new series (I didn't truly awaken as Pinkie until right after A New Generation came out, so I do think G5 starting set the Pinkie side of my soul free! I wouldn't be able to do that if it was just a reboot!), so maybe something drove the leak to happen to prevent the reboot from happening? I'm usually pretty confident in my Pinkie theories, but I'm actually less convinced of this one... Mostly the part about the leak, something from the other side still could have made them cancel their plans for a reboot, but I still don't know... Food for thought though! (Mmmmmmm, food!!!)

I remember in the episode discussions that there was straight up someone who was mad that Applejack was gonna have a new VA who was black, and that it would be bad because of forced diversity or something, even though literally nothing was confirmed at that point and it wouldn't have mattered anyways.

Honestly, I actually would have been a bit disappointed had they kept the Mane 6 for the Main Characters of G5, not because I don't like them but I feel the series needs a bit of a refresh. From what I've seen I'm liking the Mane Cast so far, Sunny looks great, Izzy looks like a fun character, I actually really like the Idea of having a Male character in the Mane Group.. Pipp and Zipp are cool too :). Looking forward to Friday and the Movie, should be a goodun.

I’m glad they didn’t reuse the main characters from G4. Obviously it’s normal for characters to be ported to the next gen with totally different personalities but to reuse the entire set of main characters would just invite too many comparisons and make it harder for G5 to be it’s own thing.

It's possible that Twilight Sparkle is alive, since Alicorns appear to have very long lifespans. Celestia and Luna existed for more than thousands of years, before Twilight took over the throne. So there may be a chance that she could be involved in G5 somehow.

@@sissysovereign1294 It was allegedly confirmed that Twilight wouldn't be returning for Gen 5, however I say allegedly because it was her voice actor Tara Strong that confirmed that SHE wouldn't be returning to voice Twilight. That doesn't necessarily mean that Twilight won't return with another voice actor, I don't think it was confirmed by Hasbro themselves either.

I swear Pipp is based on a G1 pony since there's one with a pink mane who is similar about being royal and being into femininity and confidence. Though she wasn't an influencer for obvious reasons.

Sunny reminds me of G1 Glory, (Who’s rarity). Not that sunny like rarity. Rather Sunny and Glory share the similarities that Glory and Rarity don’t. Both Sunny and Glory have shooting star cutie marks and a roller skating hobby. Izzy and Fizzy. Name and plus, Izzy seems like Fizzy well written. Unlike Fizzy, Izzy doesn’t come off as stupid and is actually funny. Izzy is way better then Fizzy. There’s also Zipp and Firefly and Pipp and Medley. Why isn’t anyone talking about this? Pipp and Medley don’t share too much in common but Medley is Firefly’s friend (firefly is a pink rainbow Dash with a blue main). Both Medley and Pipp have music notes and both Firefly and Zipp have lighting bolts. All four of them are Pegasi.

idk why but the G5 art style scares me. the early mane 6 redesign concepts i like but they feel very complex and ""overdesigned"" imo. i understand why something a lot more simplistic in nature was chosen, but idk it's like. a little too anthropomorphic in an uncanny way. maybe that's a little bit of bias because i'm still reeling from FiM being over lol and am not as interested in where the franchise is going at the moment. but the chronology of leaks is so interesting! i remember going into the 2017 one but mostly for the S8 content haha (also can't believe that was like 4 years ago...time really flies by huh?) anyways, good luck to G5, and great video!

This is the 2nd time someone has said this about the designs. Which are kinda bizarre to me, idk...i'm surprised by how many people say the colorful horses look too human or something. FiM has also been over for a long time now, i wonder if people just wanted more or what. It feels like the series explored all it could. I wasn't really interested in gen 5 until it cam out. Now knowing the context of it being far into the future makes it so interesting cuz gen 5 already comes with such expansive lore right off the bat.

Also just... simple designs are easier. Especially in 2D, because no matter how much you digitalise that process you ARE still drawing. I make a fancomic (for Undertale, not MLP - and it's not available anywhere), and all my designs are super simple for exactly that reason. I'm drawing these characters hundreds of times, from different angles and in different positions. It's far easier to do that consistently when the designs are kept simple. Sure, I COULD do really fancy, cool-looking designs - but then the comic wouldn't be sustainable.

@@ma.2089 for me it's uncanny not because they look human but because the body proportions of the 2D models make it really weird to look at, G4's ponies still look like horses-just extremely simplified while the 2D G5 style looks really wrong imo it's not the worst thing ever, but the style looks lazy and im hoping the tell ur tale style isnt the actual one they will be sticking to because (imo) its not pleasant to the eye and doesnt stand out from a lot of childrens animation i dont plan on engaging with G5, but i still think it should have a distinct style that is different from G4 while also isnt too drastic a change-more so built off the good things from G4 but elevated to a new level in general im not a fan of G5's concepts as id rather them either commit to a full overhaul to a new world and lore or at least have G5 make more sense within G4's existing world as i think the entire world forgetting the existence of the princesses, the mane six, and reverting back to being separated by type of horse is lazy and the themes overdone already within G4 (i.e zecoras introductory episode, hearthswarming, the one about getting everyone to accept thorax, and obvs the ones about getting ponies to accept other species) all that to say, to each their own and im sure there are ppl who will enjoy G5 no matter how many ppl (like me lol) complain abt the new generation of mlp which im glad abt

Actually, the spirits of the Elements of Harmony have been separated for that whole time... FiM had to come out EXACTLY the way it did for us to reunite the elements again! So with how important this show was... some strings may or may not have been pulled on the other side to make sure that everything came out perfect! **squee!**

The absolute nostalgia in this, haha. I can't believe I've been in here for all of this, I even remember I wrote a note on one of my drawers about four years ago saying "G5 Coming soon!" and I can't believe it's actually here now. After all the leaks and the speculation it's finally here. I remember being so excited and scared at times for the future of the franchise, and I think the waiting paid off. I'm even starting to feel nostalgic from the wait, I was there too for the Investor Event, sitting through 2 hours of it for less than a minute of pony content. Oh the good times.

@@ma.2089 I think the Journal of the Two Sisters, which was originally canon, mentioned that they were born alicorns. That got retconned though when Flurry Heart was introduced and it was implied that she was the first.

The "leak" with the main characters including a bat pony, a kirin, etc, was definitely fake; Hasbro would never have a main cast that didn't include a pegasus, a unicorn, and an earth pony. It wouldn't make sense from a toy-marketing perspective.

THE MIKU PONY EXISTS They announced a Hatsune Miku Bishoujo figure some time ago, and it includes a MLP style Miku pony next to a semi-realistic Hatsune Miku. Its insane if they've been having concept since years ago

My personal favorite fake G5 leak was this 4chan post from March or April 2021, where Hitch was Sunny’s “weird brother”, Pipp was a Queen instead of a princess and her last name was Altitude instead of Petals, and the neon city from the 2017 concept art was involved, and Kirin lived there. Sunny idolized an activist named Maya Hartsworth who got elected president of Equestria and then made Sunny steal the elements of harmony for her, so she can kill all the non-earth ponies, Izzy gets mad at Sunny for caring more about her public image than the real cause, Sunny apparently, and I quote, tells Izzy to “get the hell out”, and then Sunny literally shoots and kills Maya offscreen. It’s so unbelievably dumb that it’s hilarious!

I hate to admit this but i like that version better bc it seems more adventerous and villainly a bit (idk if that make sense but ok-) i just wanted to changed the part where Sunny kills Maya and made Izzy said something get the hell out of her face maybe Sunny should offer Maya to be her friend and let her pass behind her just like Luna,Starlight,Sunset Shimmer....And yeah also the part where Pipp is called a queen i also just wanted to change that to the canon part where she have a queen mom and her sister and also she'll a princess and her name will also match her canon (Sorry if my English is bad bc i was rushing so i hope you get my point and respect my opinion and i'll respects yours too ^w^)

I just want you to know, while I’ve been fascinated with the Brony fandom for years, I never watched Friendship is Magic. But your iceberg video made me curious to try it. I actually loved the G5 more than G4. Obviously, G4 will always have a place in my heart but it's extremely healthy to move on from old childhood shows. G4 (I think) did a way better job explaining the world than G4 did. I was a little kid when I first watched the show, so I didn't know about all the Equestria stuff. I just saw bright ponies on the screen. Anyways, My fav char from G5 has to be Izzy

i have absolutely no way of proving this, but one of the character designers on mlpgn is my teacher, we screened the movie and had a qna a few days ago, and we got shown concept art and told how the story evolved! the first script with the new characters was written by the same guy that wrote the lego movie, and was apperantly very funny but had too many adult themes (hitch had a murder attempt montage on izzy) also hitch and sprout was the same character the dad was supposed to be a main character and he spent a lot of time in jail for being pro-unity again i have no way of proving this without doxxing myself but just sitting on this info without dumping it on Someone is killing me so here you go

I was there during the 2017 leaks. I clearly remember they did not believe about that leak schedule because the fandom was not ready if the show is coming to an end. When the leak was confirm about a month before S9 premiere, let's just say the fandom was panic. Well, not much but it was there and start planning for pony events.

The redesigns of the mane 6 at 0:46...I have no idea how it blew up to those proportions (that everyone thought the'd be the new G5) , but I clearly remember an artist on DeviantArt made those as just a fun side project. I cannot remember their username, but I remember there was NO inclination they would be in G5. So when the hype was going around the community I was extremely confused and never really fell for it as a true "leak".

Didn't know about the 4Chan leaks, but I would've dug the different species mane 6 which give me a student 6 vibe (especially with bat ponies and kirins becoming fan favorites). And I remember the early leaks stating that Applejack would've started off as an antagonist before becoming an ally, which seems like what might happen with Sprout in the ANG series.

Even though it's a 2D show the shading, effects and the animation has improved SO much after the last 2 episodes of season 1, which were the major plot point episodes: Agony of a Witch, and Young Blood, Old Souls. (HIGHLY RECOMMEND WATCHING!!!!!! ITS SO AMAZINGLY AWESOME!!!!! But make sure to watch the begining and throughout of season 1 bc of context and stuff!! The first half of season 1 arnt that bad, but they really start to progress in storyline starting on episode 10 of season 1: "Escape of the Palisman".) She also listed as the first one in the credits with "story by", along with some other people who helped her it's the story. Though Im TOTALLY on board with the idea of Dana doing some of the animation for G5, she has her own story and animation to keep working on. I WOULD TOTALLY 1000000000% SEE THAT THOUGH!!! I SERIOUSLY NEED/WANT A CROSSOVER OF THESE SHOWS!!!! 🥺🥺🥺🥺😁😁😁😁✨✨✨✨

While we can say that G5 isn't anywhere close to how the very first concept art leak looks, I definitely see a connection. The style of wings, which are shown on Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie seems to look very similar to how Zipp and Pipp's wing styles are. The coats can be connected too, as now many ponies have more complex patterns on their coats just like the leaked concept art has.

While I don't hate the Gen 5 we got (There are many things I enjoy but I definitely do have my criticisms) I'm very disappointed in the missed opportunities of the original concept I really love the redesigns of the mane six And it's much easier to imagine an alternate reality of our main cast than it is to CANONICALLY accept that everything everyone worked so hard for in G4 is just...gone Not just for the ponies But the Kirin, the dragons, the griffins, the hippogriffs Every creature is divided once again I just hope the series will actually explain what happened

it's literally an hour before the movie releases, but whatever. my theory is that the updated mane 6 designs may be used as mythical stories, or a mural. we know it's in the same equestria, and that the mane 6 didn't look like that. but the g5 ponies likely don't know they didn't look like that. they might not even consider the mane 6 real. so these altered designs may be interpretations of the mane 6 based on years of storytelling, and the extra design features like rarities headdress and rainbow dashes rainbow wings may have been added to make them seem more impressive, since they are mythical heroes to them. and the reason that sunny has accurate depictions in her room is because argyle is a historian. of course he would know that the mane 6 were real ponies.

Looking back on those mane 6 redesigns now, I think some aspects of them live on in the mane 5 we got; Pinkie Pie and Pipp have similarly fluffy little wings, while Rainbow Dash and Zipp have longer, more aerodynamic, multicolored ones. Neat! 👀

I feel like Sprout may be partially derived from the first hyena character design! The "petulant/snotty/teenager/sweet when he wants something" type. Sprout is one of my favorite ponies though so I might be reading too far into it haha
