For those like me who rarely / don't use the selfie cam except for basic work type video calls & meetings that quality level wouldn't be a major deal. One thing I also didn't expect like 4:46 is how good they got in hiding it while keeping it still practically usable. Really amazing for real. @Unknownuserhtps2 жыл бұрын
@@kasper_429 you can still get spyed on regardless of if your front camera is motorized, all they have to do is make the area the motorized camera sits behind transparent But that out of the way, there are 3 cons to having a motorized camera setup 1.) Less space inside an already cramped phone, fitting in components would be more of a challenge so your sacrifice would be worse specs 2.) Durability, things such as the IP rating automatically drop down because moving parts could allow dust or water into the phone causing massive damage for people that work in dirty job sites *edit* - or the risk of the motor failing at some point in the phones lifespan 3.) Higher price, having moving parts in a phone would raise the price by a bit, making it less accessible for more people. Meaning the company might not want to sacrifice sales so they'd go for under display or normal cameras I like the look of the OnePlus 7 pro, but the idea is horrible Think about it, in 2-5 years this technology will be fully mastered and midrange phones will have it, I wouldn't want companies to take the easy way and in 2030 we are all stuck with crap motorized cameras because they didn't take risks back in 2020🤷♂️

I think the front camera is one of the big misunderstandings of recent years. We can see the people who use it, to post online pictures of themselves. So it seems like it's a desired feature, but it's like a survivorship bias in that we only see the people who use it, while the wast majority probably do not. So ditching the regular front camera, for something like this might not affect sales negativity in any meaningful way. Personally I couldn't care less about front camera photos, but I do still want it for it's features of unlocking and such. This seems like a great development and I hope more brands start to migrate over to using it.

Front cameras are the quintessential "survivorship" bias in phones today. It appears to the CEOs that it's used, when in reality it's only a fraction. I've seen people not even as much as touch theirs a relative's friend having broken his (from before the days of in screen visible cameras) and never fixed it. There's even businesses that offer to disable the camera all together, for privacy reasons. Such a stupid feature. Edit: also, the obvious answer is out there, it just seems that manufacturers are absolutely clueless. Point the camera body upwards, to the top of the phone. Use cut lenses to reduce thickness and as an advantage you also gain a lot of space for optical zoom. Then put a triangle prism with an optical optical blocker on either side. If it cuts light from the front, it's a main camera. If it cuts light from the back, it's a selfie camera. It's absurdly simple to pull off and all the tech involved is ancient at this point (spy cams had this decades ago, there's cameras out there that used film that are pen sized, with brackets to make the camera fit up inside the bigger pen body. So no question of size issues considering spies could take pictures that blown up took in all the information they needed. The engineers could even go three steps into 4D chess and put another prism at the other end that splits the camera duty between either two smaller but high density CMOSes or more sensors with varied packages, like basic infrared or more FLIR (brand) like features. Could even put 4 sensors in a global arrangement and have multiple angle imagery for a very dense picture.

Cost of R&D and then software development for it probably outweighs using your option versus this half baked options we get from Samsung and co

I like that they are working on the under display tech, but I will still take a notch, pill, or punch over it. Still loving my clear JRE knife! I highly recommend them.

I'm personally someone that never uses the front facing camera on my phone so these are not really issues for me. So as far as I'm concerned getting a phone without that "annoying" notch or hole punch is a win. On the other side though I don't really feel comfortable spending more than a couple hundred bucks on a phone, so I'll stick with my Poco X3 pro for awhile longer I think.

@noob4head2 жыл бұрын
@@graywolf2694 That is very much true, I could never see myself pay more than €300 for a phone cause at this price you basically have a phone that can do everything you want it to do

Using sensor shift stacking would be difficult to use, though using a mixture of physical sensor shifting, and electronic shifting with pixel binning might work, though it would probably only ever be for still photos, because video would require one hell of a geniva drive

Looks kinda nice. And as i never use selfie camera but it is nice to have every now and then. So having it hidden without any trace on the screen is nice👍 Picture quality on it was kinda crap (as expected) but as it have good rear cameras i have no issue with it.

Brilliant improvement by ZTE. I don't use the selfie camera on my phone so the quality doesn't bother me. The no hole-punch, notch or pill is a plus from me.

I love how they went on different way in the design copying the note 20 ultra from Samsung rather than the iPhone 12/13 design that nearly every other company is copying, very neat design
@Natsukashii11112 жыл бұрын
Yeah note 20 design is more industrial looking, more of a tool than most rounded of screen corners making them look like toy

What companies are coping the iPhone design I feel like most phones look more like Samsung
@gamech98662 жыл бұрын
@@The_MEMEphis well they definitely can't make as good quality as the actual iPhone thus it doesn't look that much similar to the iPhone but the design language is basically the exact same (sharp edges with flat front and back) in companies like vivo,oppo, xiaomi, realme, and there are many other companies that I don't recall at the moment but you will find alot of them.

I have the Oppo 10x Zoom and the camera simply goes out whenever needed. This not only removes any downside regarding picture quality, but also reassures the user from a privacy standpoint when having a zoom call for example. Such a simple solution. The only downside of the Oppo is that is slightly thicker than most phones, but this is probably also due to the optical zoom. ZTE should just copy from Oppo and use those resources to make it thinner

Even for a guy who rarely takes selfish but watches a TON of stuff on his phone having a tiny dot front camera on the S21 doesn't bother me enough to warrant an invisible front camera. I'll stick with the tiny dot and better camera quality.

I almost never use the front facing camera for taking pictures, mostly just for video calls (doesn't really need hi-res video). The invisibility on this generation is pretty much perfect. I'd rather have a cleaner screen with lower camera quality.
