The suit is believable in the modern day. The one plot hole I didn't believe (but easy to dismiss and suspend disbelief) is the fact that if the guy was such a leader in Optics, why did the military not swoop in the second he was "dead" to see what he was working on?

Personally loved the fact he was an abusive asshole BEFORE he became the invisible man as it actually fits into the theme of H.G. Wells’s book: would a man still follow societies laws if no one can see him? The invisibility didn’t make him a monster, he already was one.
@lindinle

the invisible man is about the corrupting nature of being invisible. this is just a pathetic lifetime film. "the invisiblity didnt make him a monster, he already was one" and that there lies a major problem. then why the fuck am i going to see this? this is like watching the spouce abuse episode of family guy only if you gave the guy harries invisibility cloak.

@Stormkrow280 4 жыл бұрын
lindinle that might have been the 30’s movie where it was one of the chemicals in the serum that made him insane, but I promise you that wasn’t in the book, Griffin in the book was a somewhat horrible person before hand: testing on various animals, including his landlords cat, and was an anti Semite. the invisibility only exasperated his negative traits, turning a reclusive asshole into a murderous psychopath.
@SLiMmcl
@SLiMmcl 3 жыл бұрын
@@Stormkrow280 You already established why it was so different. The guy was an ass, being invisible and power crazy made him a psycho. This guy is already a psycho. Testing on animals is a very common practice (even back then) being a racist is bad, but his opinion aren't getting people killed. (It's just... "wow you're a dick) and move on. Now look at the other guy who is an abusive (Physically, sexually, and mentally) psycho who does what he wants. The new version is more like the Husband in "Enough" but he and his friend have invisibility suits to mess with J-Lo. Hollow Man did a much better job of portraying a dick who turns psychotic. (In that aspect even does better than the 30's film because we only get to see brief glimpses of that plot and its more implied than shown.)

If you are impressed with this incarnation of The Invisible Man you might want to take a look at the 1933 original version. That version is awesome too. Megan Shaw my only issue with the original 1933 is the introduction of “Monocaine” being the cause of his insanity instead of him already being kind of an asshole and the invisibility merely exacerbating it.

I hated this movie. Several scenes were questionably shot (such as when the girl thought the protag hit her from more than a reasonable distance away) and it was really something that should have been on it's own. Not a remake of a monster movie. They tried to make this commentary about abuse... instead of a remake of a monster movie. I wanted a monster movie and was met with.... disappointment. I also hated the suit. I like the idea of a literal invisible man, it's what gave the original it's bit of charm. Instead they made this entirely a dark drama fest for the whole movie and it was boring, poorly acted/directed, and.... just should have been it's own thing honestly.

If I had to choose between this film and The Mummy, I'd go with The Mummy any day over this train wreck. Yes, I personally hate this movie. To me, The Invisible Man was about a successful science experiment going too far as the human experiment undergoes mental and physical issues while being Invisible, causing him to do whatever he wants, but usually in harmful ways to others and even tried, failed and refused to be visible. But how it's done here is not how I see it. It has too many instances of "The Invisible Man" being everywhere, has too many "accused of being crazy" cliques, motivations that are too vague or don't make sense, scares that aren'tt effective or scary, and moments that are highly questionable. Plus the explanation for being invisible, while different and kind of unique, shouldn't be in a movie called The Invisible Man, that has little to no bearing on the previous versions or the book. Maybe it's just me or the theater I watched it at has the dialogue played too quiet and the music played too loud, but either way, I've already found my first least favorite film for 2020.
