In terms of musical themes for Marvel movies, I can totally remember the Avengers one, though that's probably mainly because Linkara has been using that theme for the intros in his recent Secret Origins-month episodes.

Hi Brad, I know you're super busy, but do you mind telling Sarah congratulations on the new baby? She looks absolutely beautiful in this video and I'm really glad to have her back on the Midnight Screenings. Thanks in advance and I really appreciate everything you do on your channel. I'm actually not a big movie fan, but since I'm currently a doctoral student, I don't really have time to do much stuff for fun. When I listen to the Midnight Screenings, I honestly feel like I'm listening to a group of my close friends talk about movies and other things that are going on in their lives. It's definitely a stress reliever and I just want you to know that it means a lot to me. Thanks again for all the hilarious content you post on KZbin and I hope you do know that you do impact a lot of people in a positive way. Sincerely, Robert W.

I enjoyed this movie much more than I enjoyed any Harry Potter film. the universe is great but the Harry Potter story was pretty paint by numbers to me. So it was nice seeing something else sat in this world. I like that Scammander was awkward and unlikable to some, and Jacob was important to re-introduce people to the world. i didn't even mind that 1/8 of th movie is basiclly Carrie with a young man in her place (and that the mother seemed like a slightly more abusive version of the aunt as its implied she knows about the kid's family). My only issue was Johnny Depp.
@theAngryscotman7 жыл бұрын
I felt the same in regards to liking it more than the other Harry Potter films. This one gave us a chance to explore the entirety of the magical world rather than being stuck at school for the whole movie.

I think this shows how the most grating comedic actors can turn out some good stuff when under good direction and decent writing. For example, Dane Cook was actually good in stuff like Waiting, mr Brooks and Dan in Real Life. Ultimately, some people don't wanna get outta their wheelhouse, but I'm glad Fogler's showing some promise
@artistwithouttalent7 жыл бұрын
I really did have fun with this, but I had a LOT of questions afterwards. I know that films like this, based on an existing property, will generally be catered to people who are already familiar with the lore. In the case of this film, it helps, but there were still several points where I was wondering, "what is that," and I couldn't really understand from the dialogue. *SPOILER ALERT* I also wondered about that ending. How did they know that the Thunderbird rain and that venom would obliviate everyone? How were they able to deploy teams to fix the damage so quickly? Why doesn't the President seem overly concerned that the wizarding world has been revealed? What made Newt suspect that Graves was a disguise? Does the magical community care that Newt revealed the existence of Occamy to a No-Maj by giving him pure silver egg shells? How come no one in the future mentions that time Newt Scamander saved the wizarding world and captured Grindelwald in the same hour? And what are the wizards going to say about the dead muggles/No-Majs, particularly given that one was a Senator and the son of a newspaper tycoon?
@OutcastBOS7 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure the bird thing was supposed to be a Thunderbird from like, Native American mythology. I might be wrong on that, but I think that's what they were hinting at.

Thank GOD they didn't follow the Hobbit route and try to make this book into two or three movies....although the 3D, I must admit, felt very old school 3-D parlor trick, using it to jab stuff at the audiences face. You half expect someone to be using a yo yo right into the screen. Going to see it in normal 2-D today and those parts are going to be....just as random as they are in 3-D movies screened in 2-D...
@godclothshango11947 жыл бұрын
wsen't the material it was based on like half the length of any potter book?
@mastermarkus53077 жыл бұрын
Probably, but The Hobbit was also half the length of the Lord of the Rings book, but regardless, that sort of length doesn't matter: I never read "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them", but I know it isn't a novel. It's literally a book about creatures in the Harry Potter universe and the movie is more _inspired_ by it than it was following any book's plot. I like some of what made The Hobbit longer, that is, when it concerned the dwarves, especially in making them more sympathetic and unique (in the book I found the majority of Thorin's Company to be interchangeable and even Thorin himself was forgettable), but Peter Jackson or (whomever's idea it was) shouldn't have added all the characters, plot points and LOTR connections that weren't in the original book. I didn't give a damn about Gandalf looking for Sauron, or all the fluff added to the parts with the wood elves. That adaptation should've been one movie, _maybe_ two if you wanted to expand on the Battle of the Five Armies since it's so heavily glossed over in the book.
@evilsWa7 жыл бұрын
Master Markus Yes, this. I guess What I mean is I'm glad they didn't try to make this book the inspiration for three movies and just made it the one. Although who knows it could always spawn sequels....probably will.

I don't need an 11th Doctor clone as the 13th Doctor, and I'm a huge fan of the 11th Doctor. But then again, according to several sources the BBC wants another young dynamic Doctor to replace Peter Capladi when he leaves (probably together with Moffat after series 10). I'm not looking forward to it, especially since I don't really expect a lot from Chris Chibnall as the new showrunner.
@harrietamidala16917 жыл бұрын
Where did they talk about Doctor Who? I'm only hoping that this might be just a rumor.
@GermanLeftist7 жыл бұрын
harrietamidala1691 They talked about Eddie Redmayne behaving like the 11th Doctor in this movie. It's certainly not a rumour that Moffat is going to leave and going to be replaced by Chibnall. And neither is it a rumour that the BBC bosses are not quite happy with the direction the show took the last two series. If that means that they want to drop Capaldi, I don't know, but those rumours are out there, also that they want to replace him with somebody more of the likes of Tennant and Smith.
@ZemplinTemplar7 жыл бұрын
Ruth Wilson. You heard it first here. Kill two birds with one stone. I don't think anyone will easily top Smith for years to come. The "young-looking Doctor" idea should rest for a while, it's still too early.
@GermanLeftist7 жыл бұрын
ZemplinTemplar I agree with everything besides Ruth Wilson. Seriously, I'm 100% against the idea of a female Doctor.
@harrietamidala16917 жыл бұрын
Of course I know it's official that Moffat is leaving and will be succeeded by Chibnall. I'm just worried that Chibnall will not be able to have the power to choose who he wants as the next Doctor if he's going to be handed down the "Hot Young Doctor' mandate regardless if it makes sense narratively wise. So far, that news has been reported in tabloid papers, and I only hope that it's just a rumor riling up WHovians (and it's working), but we'll have to see.

I feel i should mention in GiTS the major is a android, who literally changes her body at diffrent points in the manga storyline (which make recasting quite easier, and could explain the controversial thing where they were trying to make her look more asian). the original creator has gone on record that he imagined the original design of the major was with a western look. Also Mamorou Oshi who did the phenominal 1995 animated movie adapation also has voiced his support of this. If they are on board, i think we should be too

Who is super mad about the gits casting? Because I remember a youtube video with interviews on the streets of Tokyo and the people there were all like "that's pretty good casting, she actually looks a lot like the major." and 1-2 said "as long as she's not chinese, it's all good" (there is a bit of racism against the chinese in japan) I think they probably should have gotten a japanese actress for this role (unlike the ancient one in Doctor Strange, where the people making the movie were fucked either way), but the japanese don't seem to have a problem with it.
@harrietamidala16917 жыл бұрын
I think it's because Japanese representation is a default in Japanese media. Characters are assumed to be Japanese even if they do not have typical Japanese features (aka anime like Sailor Moon). It's Japanese-AMERICANS who probably have more issue with the casting because their media representation (and all Asian-american representation) is really low in American media, and what is presented is limited stereotypes and even fewer fully fleshed out characters.
@Lawlaliet7 жыл бұрын
I think it's specially more hilarious when people try to defend something like Attack on Titan or the upcoming Full Metal Alchemist live action movies. Specially when you bring up the characters names, people go "Well it doesn't matter! It's Japan! So they can have Japanese actors play white people! You're a racist! Japan makes better anime adaptions!"
@42031057 жыл бұрын
harrietamidala1691 I really don't think americans who have japanese ancestors have any ground to bitch on in this case. It's a remake of a movie made in japan by japanese people. If the japanese are fine with it it's fine. That they want more representation is a different issue. I get that. I'm gay and it's hard to find a representation that isn't some bad stereotype (I still miss "happy endings" for having a gay guy who was just a slob). But crying "whitewashing" all the time isn't going to help. It's just going to annoy people. If they want more representation, they have to encourage their kids to become actors instead. Even then it won't be much representation. There are only 1,3 million japanese americans, compared to 322 million americans overall. Just percentage wise that maybe leaves room for one japanese american actor under the few hollywood stars there are. For TV it could certainly be more.
@DaemianLucifer7 жыл бұрын
@Kanashe If anyone is ok with Idris Elba playing heimdall,they have no right to complain about any actor portraying any character as long as they do a good job.Scarlett Johansson is a good actress,and thats where the whole discussion ends. Besides,there are far worse things with that trailer.Like how they just had to cram in the naked scene,because everyone knows that theres a naked scene in the show.Or the out of context lesbian kiss because lesbians are hawt!
@keiichimorisato987 жыл бұрын
major isn't naked in the scene though, neither was she in the original version. also, there was random lesbian sex scene in the manga, so blame the creator. as for white washing, people need to understand that Major Kusanagi has no known ethnicity or nationality, so she can be played by literally anyone.

I actually recognize plenty of Marvel themes, problem is, that they keep dumping them from film to film, excluding The Avengers theme which got a great Danny Elfman remix in AOU. @SabbyNeko7 жыл бұрын
The reason they're not casting a Japanese actress (apart from any of the difficulties Hollywood may have with ethnic casting, of course) is because anime characters typically resemble Caucasians. The whole style was inspired by Walt Disney, hence the gigantic eyes. Even if a character is actually Japanese, they don't typically look Japanese. Scarjo resembles Matoko more than an actual Japanese actress would. That, and from what I've seen, Japanese GitS fans don't seem to care about the casting choice.

Teacher? I always thought Indiana Jones was a University Professor, time to do some re-watching, and thanks for giving me a reason^-^ About Ghost in the Shell: Usually I don't care about "race" switches for movies, but in this case I can understand complains. Japanese troubles with greater foreign powers were an important part of the manga, so it had kind of a nationalist viewpoint. It does feel odd to change the "race" of the lead without changing the setting as well. With Johansson as lead, it would still work just fine if the setting was changed to Canada or something, it wouldn't make much sense in the USA of course due to the "trouble with larger powers" aspect.

As a Harry Potter fan, I thought this movie was alright. My main complaint is that nothing in this movie made a lot of sense. I didn't understand the whole Credence Obscurus subplot, or the subplot where Tina apparently knows Credence in her memories. I looked up the plot summary online and it still doesn't make sense to me. Also, I really didn't like Eddie Redmayne in this movie. fahd s I liked this movie a lot but I liked Dr Strange more because I have more of a connection to Marvel comics thane the Harry Potter world. Also I felt like the walking stick creature was a ripoff of baby Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy. The catching of the beasts reminding me of catching Pokemon animals.

This movie without a doubt. The 3D was fantastic, no pun intended.
