SPHERE (1998) a psychological science fiction horror/thriller starring Sharon Stone and Dustin Hoffman. Either you or Doug should review it in the future. It's extremely underrated!

I remember there was one called Endless Descent from 1990 which had R. Lee Ermey in it. But to be honest you pretty much hit the nail on the head by referencing Leviathan & Deep Star Six. By the way, kudos for referencing Leviathan. Love the film. Such an excellent cast in that.

This is probably the closest we will get to having a big budget mainstream Hollywood Cthulhu movie released in theaters. That monster at the end was like Cthulhu, but not quite. It's almost like it was written to have Cthulhu but they couldn't go all the way for some reason.

with the retro trend kind of coming back into fashion now, it almost sounds like a lot of the cliche points, action beats and things tat happen in this movie, from the sounds of it, were intentional call backs to the 80's 90's action movies, but set in a more modern time. The gist Im getting from the review, is this sounds like a throwback to something you would have seen int he 80's...kind of like what Stallone did for 'the Expendables'. Such fun! The movie knows what it is, and it's just taking you along for the ride! :)

Definitely give this one a pass. Maybe I'll watch it, if it gets on Amazon prime or Netflix but that's it. I don't know if it's just me, but Doug seems oddly "unprepared", like he's a bit just along for the ride? Just my own personal opinion...

The trailer gave away too much of the plot. It didn't encourage me to see more. I'm just not a Kirsten Stewart fan. I would've preferred to see her in a story where the character and audience are trying to figure out what's happening together.

So Brad says that LIFE was better then this... Okay, then it's a pass for me then. LIFE too was an Alien ripoff, but it had a more interesting premise and had the guts to end on a INSANELY dark note, which I loved so much I couldn't stop smiling about all throught walking out of the cinema and coming home. That took balls, doing such a nice bad ending, mhmmm :)

This movie could have been better if they eliminated the monsters and just have the drill station being destroyed by an earthquake, or go full B Movie and just go balls to the wall crazy with it having as much fun as possible

Can we grow up and stop taking swings for Kristen Stewart acting career, a second part can be a really good movie, the base is more that solid, this movie is a good movie, sometimes you have to bite the bullet and lost money to make a good series and I think that this is the case, this world building is intriguing and can bring genuine entertainment. This underwater facilities don't have the same background story that Cloverfield?, I remember that some of the first sighting of the monsters were in submarine drilling facilities and the little monsters following the lead of the Big monster is almost the setup of that movie.

I really just don’t see a lot of the comparisons that are made, like at all, especially Alien.
