LG is very far along in the engineering of their "IPS Black" technology. They CLAIM to have entirely eliminated backlight bleed and reduced IPS Glow to VA-levels -- in other words, IPS-type displays with closer to 2500:1 contrast ratio.

they are not gamma corrected, you can see it says 10-90% luminance, so yeah they aren't comparable to hub imo just showing a good picture of the 3 tracks on the UFO test does a better job than response time testing, specially since the methodology used is a bit misleading and not strict enough

Brought you that much closer to the HUB standard. Very nice. I'm also only really personally interested in response times, color accuracy, as long as it's decent i can't be bothered with. So it's very nice to see more focused content. I hope you continue building a repertoire of response time matrixes to build up a very nice review framework for future monitor. And looking forward to more monitor reviews. The explanation between the two ASUS products was also very nice.

Small review, I got the pg270qm a couple of weeks ago, initially, I was really disappointed with the colors on windows, they looked really dull compared when plugged to a macbook, then found the option for increase color vibrance on nvidia, loving it now. Regarding response, it feels great, I was able to measure input lag from my mouse with reflex, allowing me get a good setup and even select which cables to use(kvm + wireless mouse), colors are amazing, and it performs great when working, 1440p is a really good resolution for my needs, I'm a software developer. Recently I played Spiderman, that one is the one which most surprised me, HDR+Ray tracing really blew my mind, wasn't expecting that that kind of image was possible. Super happy overall.

It's a very old and stubborn Nvidia bug. You can move the digital vibrance slider from 50% to 51% and back to fix it. Might revert with driver updates. Some people also have limited output dynamic range set.

The factory color setting is the sRGB setting which is the closest to the “real colors” as you say. If you like saturated colors you can change to the wide gamut setting on the display and if you want even more saturation just use the nvidia vibrance setting.

I gotta say I upgraded to the xg27aqm in January from my old alienware 1080p 240hz monitor and it really is a great monitor for all my needs. The 1440p resolution is great for all my games and i dont feel at any disadvantage in any competitive game. Valorant is great on it, pubg is awesome on it, all battlefields are incredible on it. And honestly the colour depth and vibrance are not showable in a video but they are the best part. The saturation levels are off the charts comparex to all my previous monitors. Would highly recommend!

@@DrtRidr3256 no the alienware was an IPS panel. But there is no comparison to the asus. When next to each other the alienware with its srgb looks washed out and even dull compared to the asus. Same brightness, same nvidia settings... The wide gamut is so vibrant...

Those are on the horizon. All that’s needed is manufacturing capability. Currently the way the make oled monitors is with the excess panel left from cutting TV panels which is why they’re all ultra wides.

Yep! I went from using this monitor for over a year to a 15.6” Samsung QHD 240Hz OLED in a gaming laptop and I can’t go back to LCD ever again. Waiting on >20” 240Hz OLED monitors preferably from Samsung now.

I'm using this monitor right now. I was also also interested in the ELMB and ELMB-sync and the monitor was fair bit cheaper than the one with a physical gsync unit. Realistically I don't really notice the difference from ELMB and don't typically run it. It's not something that's going to make your LCD feel like a CRT. You can get into hidden configuration settings on the monitor fairly easily and change overdrive levels with ELMB which fixes some of the over shooting. Just do a little googling and you find blurbuster forums or etc where people do a fair bit of testing. Honestly I'm not really sure I would go with this monitor over a solid midrange 165/144hz display for a fair bit less money . They're all becoming pretty decent these days and there is a point of diminishing returns. Going from 144 to 240hz isn't anything like going from 60 to 144 IMO. Disclaimer is that I'm not really that into super competitive high framerate shooters like CS, Siege, and Valorant. If one of these was my main game maybe I would care about the 240hz more than I do currently.

The PG279QM has been nothing but amazing to me, something that people don’t seem to know is that the operating range of having a gsync module builtin is wider than just a gsync compatible screen and thats why they are more expensive. This means that running a flight simulator that dips below 30fps is still smooth while gsync doesnt work below 50hz on most gsync compatible displays. If i was purchasing today though i would just go with the XG as the performance is very similar and much better price.

I purchased the XG27aqm ($600) and PG279qm ($690) off amazon on sale back in June and ended up returning the XG and keeping the PG. The PG279QM panel had slightly less ghosting/overshoot. Probably because the PG is the premium line so they use the highest binned panels. Both are great monitors but the gsync module with variable overdrive sealed the deal for me

Using your reviews and Hardware Unboxed, I bought the PG279QM as an Amazon Used Acceptable for $500 and only the box itself had a gash but nothing was harmed inside. Everything was in the original packing. And it has been an outstanding upgrade to my QHD 95 Hz budget monitor which is now my secondary for discord, etc. I plan on keeping this PG279QM until OLED 4k 240 Hz is a sub $1k option 5+ years from now. Thanks for this video! Justified my purchase again.

Massive props for being one of the ONLY channels I have ever seen to not only acknowledge variable overdrive, but actually test / show the effect it has with numbers. Kinda important if you delve into AAA gaming on the side imo, especially if you don't want to play with OD settings for different games depending on their performance. As others have said though, checking out the AW3423DW might be worth it. Response times on that QD OLED panel are plain nutty.

I have two MSI Optix MAG274QRF 1440p 165hz IPS GSYNC and they are absolutely incredible. Not sure if I want to upgrade to anything above 165hz just yet as I don't really feel a need for it considering the price. Highly highly recommend this monitor for anyone who wants a fantastic accurate monitor straight out of the box for roughly $460. I got them for $380 at the beginning of this year so they will likely touch that price sometime soon once more.

I recently bought the XB273UGX and the XV252QF and personally I preffered the XB273UGX and returned the XV2, I loved the vibrance and saturation of the XB27 I could not go back to the 1080p XV2 it just felt so dull I guess? I paid $800 AUD for the XB27 and could not find the XG27AQM anywhere here in Australia. Loved the review and the new testing keep it up!

You can influence (and possibly minimize) overshoot by playing with Color Gain profiles (possibly at the expense of brightness or color accuracy) I was able to overdrive an Acer 270hz this way, to mixed results

As always excellent review. Pixel response times are a fantastic addition and I think that you should add especially cumulative deviation too like HUB because its very important to see the kind of compromise between response times and overshoot.

Hmm i personally would've liked to see (EU PRICES and what seemed to be best available 1440p 240hz monitors) - Dell Alienware AW2721D 27" Gaming QHD IPS 240Hz (755$) - Gigabyte M27Q X 27" Gaming QHD IPS 240Hz (650$ but consistently drops to 472$) - Acer Predator XB273UGX (bmiipruzx) 27" Gaming QHD IPS 240Hz (660$ has dipped to 610$ consistently) vs this Asus XG27AQM (1440p/270Hz which cost her (820$ with no drops atm) Samsung also does good monitors but since the curve is way to aggressive I don't consider them (besides id be running dual monitor setup once i get my first 240hz monitor with my old 144hz one).

Reading a thread on blurbusters, they were discussing how elmb sync was designed for a range of 165 and above only. If you wanted to use it for lower refresh rate range you need to edit some settings in the developer mode.

Bought this Monitor myself and Loving this Monitor so far. The 270hz really Help because i still Play CoD 4 which runs at stable 250fps. Plan to Upgrade my GPU from a GTX 1080 to a next gen GPU to make use of that High Refresh rate.

I have the Alienware AW2721D which is 1440p 240Hz. Even with a 3080Ti I can't max out the frame rate in demanding games and end up running it at 144Hz. This also saves power (and reduces heat) from my GPU and to be honest, there are diminishing returns after 144 FPS in most games. I really don't notice the difference between 144 FPS and 240 FPS nearly as much as the difference between 60 FPS and 144 FPS. So basically, the sweet spot for most people is still 144Hz 1440p.

Not really, going from 1440p 144hz to 240hz is actually a major jump (vs say 144hz to 165/170/180hz that are just moderate increases vs 144), going to 240/270hz is very noticeable
