What's so heartbreaking in the scene where Joel sees the girl who reminds him of Sarah is that she would have been old enough to be a mother at this point. Joel was seeing a future where his daughter lived and he was a grandfather. This was such a beautiful and heartbreaking episode - Pedro Pascal was absolutely incredible. Great reaction as always. 🙂

Graham Greene and Elaine Miles playing the old married couple at the start is hilarious and my favourite addition they've added so far. We can all spend the rest of the show's life just thinking of those two just living out their lives in their little hunting lodge constantly making snarky jokes at one another.

Those two really brought a smile to my face. I am glad they are surviving the apocalypse in relative safety and reasonable comfort. The way they both laughed at Ellie's antics was priceless.

It's one of the more direct from the game moments as well. One of the only differences being that in the game Joel says "You're treading on some mighty thin ice" when Ellie brings up Sarah.

The placement of the panic attacks is super effective. Panic Attack #1: Joel learns that his brother, his only family left, may be dead Panic Attack #2: Joel believes that the dog is going to attack Ellie but knows if he makes a move that may make things worse Panic Attack #3: Joel learns that his brother, his only family left, not only now has a wife but is also about to have a child of his own. He then sees a young lady who reminds him of how his daughter could've looked, and the grandchild he could've had.

Graham Greene, the old man in the beginning, is an acting legend. The Woman playing his wife is Elaine Miles. They played together in the comedy drama series Northern Exposure for a couple episodes.. so this is kind of an Easter Egg to that series i guess

The "You're right, you're not my daughter"-scene was very emotional in the game and here as well, but watching the show i always wonder if the impact is as strong on somebody who does not know the game. And then i see reactions like yours and think "Yup. It is, this works".

I gotta say one thing I appreciate about this channel and these reactions is you're giving actual reactions, by definition. For whatever reason I keep seeing reactors feel the need to talk and talk through every single thing their watching, talking to the camera, talking loudly, missing information they otherwise would catch if they just watched the video. It's KZbin. We can see what you're thinking. We can see how you're reacting. That's what this is for and you do it very well. You didn't have to say a WORD in the room scene and we saw exactly what you got from it. That was beautiful! And the times you do comment, it's simple thoughts and nothing obtrusive. It's a pure reaction. It's soo much better.

So true! I love her style of reactions. Then again, maybe that is why her posts are getting blocked and she has to re-edit them? Interrupting the show might be what save others who post much more of the episode than she does, yet she gets targeted and they don't? Of course I have no idea, just a thought.

Great episode Addie! I think Jackson is a great town and a cool place to stay. But if they just wanted to be safe they could have moved into one of the other houses in Bill and Frank's fenced compound in episode 3. That place had *everything* including a world class arsenal.

I imagine when Joel talks to Tommy about his dreams that it's most likely memories of Sarah that he relives; and in a world such as theirs even good dreams have become nightmares for Joel because when he wakes he's instantly reminded that Sarah isn't there and why which speaks to his line " all I know is when I wake up... I've lost something." Life truly did stop for Joel about the same time his wrist watch stopped.😔

Happy to see someone break the "new characters die" curse. (knock on wood) For this episode, the conversations were more important than any action scenes. Joel used the very common, purposely mad at you or hurtful statement to Ellie in order to make separation easier. It is almost always never easy for anyone. Love your concern for the horse's safety. We were treated to some very western movie vibes. Love it. As much as Joel has survived, I'm upset that they(writers/directors) have him get stabbed and then pull out the bat handle when he would know to leave it in. (I know what it's related to but, still...) We have to hope that Ellie comes up with something smart to help Joel in some way. With each week, the waiting for a new episode is torture! Take care, Addie!! btw.... way back in episode 2, as they started on their way, you said, "I would not be able to do this. More power to them." Now, you're quiet when they're quiet. When you heard the voices coming from outside of the building, you knew that it was trouble! Look at you now, Addie!!

Those monkeys were infected, as the scientist were using them as test subjects. In the game, a doctor was bit by a monkey and died (I believe he shot himself)

Gabirel Luna (Tommy) is an amazing actor! If you wanna watch another show where he really shines, you should watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He played Ghost Rider. Great show!

Nice reaction, Addie. It was sweet that Joel got to reunite with his brother in Jackson, but was heartbreaking when he was reminded about Sarah's death, back in 2003. Definitely looking forward to watching the next episode.

This is why this has been the only shooter video game that I like. There are so many video games out there where you can just turn off your feelings and become a killing machine, shooting and killing your way into getting better and better at such violence with no issues, but this game was different. It was created so that you feel remorse for killing, especially the NPCs you don't have to kill. (like most of the dogs) This world is still so far fetched but it to me allows me to feel the way I would feel if this were to really take place. For to many of us, life is worth something and to just kill with no remorse is not in any way desirable.

Maria to Ellie: "Be careful who you put your faith in. The only people who can betray us are the one we trust." Probably the most important sentence of this episode if not of the whole series. Joel to Ellie: "Dream of sheep ranches on the moon." This sentence says so much. Joel already connects Ellie's dreams with his. Ellie drank from Joel's liquor and it was STILL grose. That was a callback to the game DLC. Next episode Ashley Johnson (Game Ellie) will properly get an appearance in the Ellie Flashback (Game DLC). We met Dina in this episode. Ellie yelled at her during the meal and if I'm not mistaken, we met also Jesse in the cinema. And it is also very conspicuous that we only see explicit violence when Ellie sees it. Otherwise, the camera is always switched to Ellie during killings and we don't see them, we only hear them. Makes it clear, at least for me, that the story is not focused on Joel but especially on Ellie. This has been going on since episode 2.

not fully confirmed that that girl was Dina, but its possible. Even Mazin and Druckman were cryptic about it. POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR LATER SEAONS AND LAST OF US 2 GAME: . . . . . . . . . . The Dream Joel talks about, living on a small farm with a couple sheep... thats exactly where Ellie ends up living during Last Of Us 2. Nice little foreshadowing and easter egg too

@@IH8YH In principle, it is 100% correct. Dina spoke of that moment in Part 2 and Ellie's unkindness. Apart from that, there are also countless easter eggs in this episode. And the whole season is working much better towards Part 2 than the game did. No one can claim that the characters act out of character.

I know I'm in the minority with this, but I actually did not like how they handled this episode. We get a moment of breakdown of emotion from Joel when's talking about Ellie to Tommy that I just think hasn't been earned at this point in the story. It felt cheap and out-of-character in my opinion, and completely took me out of the next scene where Joel's talking to Ellie (a conversation in the game that gets me teary-eyed every time). Then, less than 5 minutes later, Joel goes back to Ellie and says "you deserve a choice" and she replies with a quick "lets go." That whole interaction felt cheap also because there was no time for their previous conversation to really set in and breathe before they reconcile. I don't know, the pacing and direction of this episode was just really distracting to me. It's really the first episode of the series that I've been disappointed with. Not a deal-breaker, but I sincerely wish the emotional beats of this section in Jackson were handled better.
