What highs and lows! Man what a turnaround! So stoked we got this going good and what most exciting is that there still more to wring out of it! I wanted to clear up something about the spark plugs, Liam and I cleaned them when but they are still the very old ones not new. This was the first time ever changed brands. Thank you guys for all the support with the shirts as merch so rad! I don’t have the budget to change the Engine management system on the legend at the moment. We are spread a bit thin with all the projects. So much new stuff up ahead and so excited for the ride! God bless you guys!!

What is the combo? It is impressive. Looks like the gen 2 LT1, or LT4 setup. But what compression? Trans? Gearing? Stall? Stroked? Cam? It looks like a bad ass street ride. Is it streetable. I've always loved the C3 Corvettes, and currently building a 476 BBC for it. But u have always thought the C4 vettes make bad ass drag cars, and track cars. Great suspension setup, and they are lightweight @ 3000 pounds stock. Lastly, can you touch on the super-oxygenated fuel? Always love how technical and detailed your videos are. All those little details matter, and make power. Keep her hauling.

Any chance the breakup is because you're putting so much fuel in the cylinders that you dont have enough energy in the spark to ignite the liquid? I know methanol dragsters run massive coils for that reason.

The Pump does more Volume with less Fuel Pressure, but probably the Injectors were the bottleneck. They only let so much through each time they Open, and more pressure puts more force behind it so you get more fuel for the same duty cycle :) I love all the Info you give about the issues you find and how you solve them! Keep doin what ya doin!

I forgot about the injectiors. I know He was talking about that last video. That would help along with copper plugs and possibly a upgraded spark ignition module to deliver more efficient spark to the plugs.

Does that motor have a coolant temperature sensor? The fans not kicking in combined with the breaking up sounds like a cts.

Jeremy, Have you checked the motor ground straps and eprom / ECU grounding? Also check that the battery ground has a good and CLEAN connection to frame / body. The break up could be caused by loose grounds or corrosion underneath the ground straps. I'd suggest taking off the old grounding wires to the motor and eprom / ECU and create new leads / straps. This might solve your issues. Why I'm suggesting this...…. When you reply the video it looks like your tail lights flicker when you're at the higher RPM's. I think the motor and ignition is pulling to much ground through old connections. I speak from a little experience as I worked for a company which created wiring harness for race cars.

I'd check your plug wires for resistance, clean out the inside of the cap on that hei and try gapping the new plugs. Dunno what your compression ratio is but my 13-1 small block likes a cold plug at 35 thousandths. I also run an msd hei. You're doing great work brother. Your dad is smiling down on you. I promise you that. Ps hei distributors are filthy inside. Clean every 500 miles or so on a hot rod such as this ✌

@@Fasterproms1 You'll get her figured out brother. Those plugs do look awfully warm though. Maybe she doesn't like the fuel, either? Q16 is pretty stout. Usually don't need to get into that until you're at 14-1 compression. And there is such a thing as too much octane. Anyway, thanks for reading my comment. Hope it helps. Best wishes ✌ Do it for dad 👍

Nice work! That breakup sounds really similar to the one that you were having before, just higher in the rpm range. Being a computer guy, I wonder if its the PROM chip that maybe has some bad address locations. Anyway, super cool that it is making 500WHP!

Colder plugs, equivilant to a N2C in Champion. And dare I say get rid of that Fool injection as well. Either use a modern set up or put a Holley E85 carb and Victor jnr manifold.

@@gmcman355crazy exactly. Tpi isn't the best for this application, but that's not the point. From what I have seen is his dad was trying and doing what no one else had done. Jeremy is just taking his knowledge and picking up where his dad left off.

When I was about 11 or 12 my friends dad had a vette about the same gen. It had a 4 speed with 3 overdrives which at that age I thought was outrageous, that was my first time in any car with 500 plus hp...great memories

I am a ford guy but i do respect Chevy and dodge and any motor that makes power and stays together but i am still a ford guy at hart but i do love this old vet and really enjoy watching you relearn old technology and use the knowledge from today and make it work even better than ever but still be the old school technology and equipment ......I know the day will come that you modernize this vet but i hope you never do :-) fingers crossed but it is your dads car and your car now to do with as you please but i do see it as a big part of hot rod history that in my opinion should be salvaged and even improved up on but still the original tech .........

those older motors hate hate hate plat and iridium plugs. those things don't conduct well. gotta go with pure copper, silver or gold. brisk racing makes the best bang for buck silver racing plugs. I get about 20k miles outta them so they aren't just purely for racing.

@Chris Jacobs actually, it's not. Some control systems prefer resistive ignition components to dampen electrical noise. This is common with aftermarket ECUs as well.

@Chris Jacobs what is bullshit? The fact that plat and iridium are terrible conductors? The fact that for performance you never want to use that junk because they are developed to last a long time(100k miles) not produce high energy or conduct well? Or the fact that on older engines that didn't have 60,000 volts powering each spark plug seperately sometimes they shared a single 25-45k coil across the entire system, the low conductivity of those high mileage plugs would cause issues in high performance engines. Please, tell me which part of reality is bullshit.

pick-up in distributor causing break-up? coil weak? check actual shaft play in distributor due to age and wear.

Does it still have the GM HEI distributor in there? May need a more stable distributor to keep from breaking up over 6K.

Its breaking up right off idle, so not an rpm issue.

Who’s distributor is that? If it’s still got the stock module in it, ditch it. Known failure point.

Great to see it back at the track. BTW have u check valve springs pressure? Valve float sometimes mask as plugs on high end. Have u try different gaps? Maybe close the gap on plugs.

You post stuff on KZbin and Instagram and really don’t interact with people so I don’t know the setup. If it’s higher compression 11.5:1 on up try e85 and a BR7EF. It’s a proven non projected plug that works well on SBC with higher compression on e85 or nitrous

Hey buddy luv the show and the work you and the family do. Quick question if possible, what would be the best tuner kit for a 99 Dodge Durango with a 5.2liter v8 with a few mods to help me get the most out of Doomsday. Lol know one around here has the dyno system or set up for this model. Any clues by chance, thank you.

Great stuff Jeremy, happy for you. My dad owned a large Texaco gas/repair garage/machine shop from the 50's-early70's. He sold one of his street/drag cars that I really wanted years ago. It was a 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk with a supercharger from the factory. He did tons of mods having his own shop and machine shop. It was really fast too! It had the original Studebaker 289 V8 powerplant. What I would do to have that car in in my garage right now for my son and I to restore and have fun with.

YES!! I am not the only person to have run NGK plugs in their GM product!!! I had NGK Iridium plugs in my 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix SE, and EVERYONE kept telling me that they would not work, I needed to go with AC Delco only.... the car ran amazing, I had no issues. And now, I get to see my favorite C4 Corvette getting a set? Awesome! :) And people thought I was crazy? Does suck that it suddenly started breaking up though with the NGK plugs...... Ok, well maybe the Legend just does not like them? Still, awesome pass!!

Jeremy, I love the C4 content! I'm 46 and thank God my Dad is still in my life and doing great. He and I actually pulled the E.C.U. out of my 1992 C4 convertible 6 speed today. Going to have to send it to a car computer repair specialist. I wish I could make serious power like you are making. 502 hp with the huge torque of an L98 is awsome. I wonder if a Procharger could about double my LT-1's 300 h.p. and still have it reliable? Shane

I've never had good luck messing with plugs. My 91' DSM we put iridium plugs in it... DON'T. 23 PSI and it was blowing out the plugs. I thought I locked up the motor/brakes is cut SO hard it was terrifying LOL!

Hey, Jeremy....small question. Could you ballpark me on the price of a build? I'm looking to squeeze about 500HP to the wheels in a 2004 Z06 that is completely stock. (If the guy sells it to me.) I want to keep the car N/A and as reliable as possible for street and 'drive to' events.(Not planning to drag race or anything, maybe roll racing at events a few times a year). I know it would take heads, cam, etc, but I'm just trying to get a rough idea at what I can expect in cost to get the LS6 to 500whp before I can start planning the transmission, diff, gearbox, etc.

Awesome! I remember at the end of 2017 when I got my 99 Z28 first week pulled the ls1 with the plan to throw a stout bottom end in it (finally finished it about a month ago lol) so I threw low mile 05 4.8 in it with some king rod bearings and arp bolts a nasty little cam from LJMS and pac springs and trunion upgrade I sent my 799' to TSP and got the stage 2.5 CNC port and build and a black aluminum summit intake and 90mm TB FIC 160's e90 fuel and dry NX plate with a baby 50 shot a Huron speed v3 single kit with a VS billet wheel 78mm turbo th400 ptc converter Holley HP ECU I got most of the parts for when the ls1 was done but after we got decent tune in it and ran a 6.77 foot braking it on waste gate (boost only) I was super happy but after I got the car dialed all the way in it went a best of 5.67 at 118mph at 3285# and .69's & 70s all day 4.Gr8 all day but when my other motor got finished I wanted to push the sbe 4.8 a little harder and see what it would do I made a mistake with the nitrous jet and bent 6 rods. I'm coming out swinging with the Ls1 D.S.S pistons TSP rods,and crank and another LJMS cam and the top end off the ol 4.8, good hardware in it very basic set up and bigger VS racing billet 88 turbo

A set of Autolite plugs and Change that Thermostat the standard Operating temp for the old Chevy motors are 215-220 ... Those old Dogs 🐕 Love heat .I bet you Smack those 6.60’s Homie
