A rigger gets paid by freelancing at BDSM events as part of the entertainment for the evening. If they're rigging for somebody on OnlyFans, they likely get a cut of the money earned from the photos or videos. Riggers will also be paid by photographers to tie people up for photoshoots. It is a service worth paying for, because you're paying for their expertise in regards to safety and aesthetics.

Hi, pole dancer here, it's actually a sport and it's more like gymnastic then a dance. It's extremely hard on your body and professional pole dancers are ripped, I myself got abs after 5 months of dancing. It can be sexual, but it's way more focused on the technical part of it.

The reason so many of them “used to be” sex workers is because sex work is hard, can be harrowing, and the majority of people who do it don’t do it for life or full time. It’s largely harmful to your physical and mental health, and one’s shelf life as a sex worker is often limited by your youth, health, energy, and ability to network. I was a sex worker for years, still profiting off of my past work, but I don’t have it in me to actively do it anymore. The sex worker community is unbearably chaotic, pedantic, preachy, cliquey, and has a strong under current of drug use. Sure, normalize sex workers, but that doesn’t make the job any less draining and degrading because the customers will always be scumbag freeloaders. And no, the bikini baristas are technically not sex workers. Legally they are not supposed to show any nudity. But they often do because they know it’s the only way to get the good tips, so they break the “rules” and become half-strippers. But at their baseline, no, bikini baristas are not sex workers.

Being a teacher and being a soldier and being homeless are also 3 VERY differnt levels of danger and possible mental trauma. So what was your point again?

If you’re in a room and are told there are two female strippers and you have to guess who they are this is what to look for (in my experience): hair thrown up in pony tail or bun but you can tell it was curled or styled the night before, jogging pants, hoody, but have perfect nails (usually fake and really long and likely over the top with jewels and sparkles). They’re tired of always having to dress up (and down) and generally when they go out they just want to be comfortable. Of course thats not the same for everyone but I used to work near a club and would to interact with strippers outside of their working hours and I found this to be pretty common.

A lot of women use pole dancing for fitness, since it requires a lot of core strength, movement and several muscle groups (a lot like yoga). So, sometimes women with a fitness background in things like yoga will study pole dancing and then become instructors to teach fitness-geared pole dancing classes. There's a few different studios in my city. Now, I have never interviewed the instructors but since we only have one defunct strip club I suppose they could all former strippers who are out of a job. They all teach pole dancing with a focus on fitness though.
