I was so hyped for this set for the last half a year. Since the end of August I've been checking the news about it on almost daily basis. And I guess the hype was too strong. I didn't believe the mansion would be so narrow, but now I've seen the video, and I'm disappointed. I thought, how would they make it distinct from the other modulars that are supposedly are on the same street or in the same area? Would they make a fence? Nah, let's just put some grass over there. I'm glad they managed to cover so many rooms and put as much memorabilia as they could. However, the danger room and the classroom is disgustingly small! Yeah, I guess the basketball ground is iconic, putting it on the front lawn wouldn't be heresy, you know, especially if by doing that you could make the building thicker. Also Cerebro being a separate set not available for purchase as far as I know is also awful. Sentinel? I could do without it. It should have been put in the Quinjet set, that would justify its horrendous price, and its parts budget could be put in the main thing - the building. Figures selection I guess is a matter of taste. You can't make the X-men set without Wolverine, but you could at least make it exclusive since it's 330$! Give him a yellow and brown costume, or a leather jacket that goes with the cowboy hat or something! The leg printing looks almost like from a knock-off brand. Iceman is an integral X-man, but not for the animated series. If you were going for the original roster, where's Angel/Archangel? And on top of that the figure looks very plain, could have translucent head with white printing or something. Why not? They did it for Chima. Yeah, would prefer having Nightcrawler instead of him too. Also I would very much like the Juggernaut big fig instead of the Sentinel. Glad we're having Gambit and Jean, finally! I could go on... If it seems I hate the set then I don't, I'm just very much a fan of source material and of Lego and I had the highest hopes for the set. It seems that to fix everything that's wrong with the building you need to buy a couple of copies and obviously I'm not gonna get them. I will probably buy a single one at one point in the future, but I won't be doing it at first day and not for the price since I believe it's not worth it. Still I hope the set does well so we could get more X-men stuff in the future. Apocalypse, Emma Frost, Brotherhood, mr. Sinister, there's so much to cover...

They absolutely could’ve reused the Wolverine CMF figure. Tiana and Aurora from the Disney 100 CMF series both showed up in sets of their own, as well as the Wonder Woman figure from that DC CMF a few years back.

I personally think if you want to fix the problem with having a tiny danger room, the designers should have switched the spot of the danger room and cerebro, having cerebro on the bottom left floor but enclosed like in the movies. And the danger room on the top left floor going into the top middle floor.

As someone who isn’t a regular on this channel I was honestly more impressed and interested in the monumental level collection just in the stairwell. That’s a lot of LEGO! Great video too! I look forward to seeing more.

I for one think the modularity is terrible in this... first observation was it was not easy with those extremely long pins to separate, and once you do all you have are these tiny rooms you can't do much with and makes a mess for play.... big fail.... This is where the story book option is the best scenario, as that would open up would look like a larger mansion on the outside, and a rather bland outside would reveal a colorful dynamic interior that a player could really interact with. Then the danger room could open up, and even have hinged platforms fold down to make it a true playset. The other side could be the cerebro. being how the interrior is this is a huge fail in the playability side, and display. Imagine this like the playsets of old like the bat cave but the exterior looking like a mansion.

The biggest problem with professor X's suit isn't that it's blue (he wears blue suits in many appearances), it's that it's michael scott's suit. charles xavier is always well dressed, whereas michael scott probably just buys his suit off the rack. they should've at least used a torso with a waistcoat.

Lego will always half do sets. Example: Daily Bugle, they could’ve added more characters. Now its just a cash grab. Wish I could get a punisher minifigure Here: in Manshion, they could’ve added more characters. They didn’t. They want you to spend more money. No classic wheelchair for Professor X? Metal Man + Gable? Nightcrawler? 27:01 They did Ice 🧊 man like that on purpose because if you get a hydro man minifigure, it would be similar.

I think to make the X-Mansion decent in size, not big, decent, you would have to merge 2 of these and make a moc or merge it with the Natural History Museum! And with the Sentinel I like the KO Custom model better, but in this case the body, the head of the Sentinel from this set is better than the custom one!

Missed opportunity since it's too small. If you say it's too expensive, some Lego Star Wars are $800 and up. What's the difference? Also, don't say kids won't be able to afford it because I can tell you that this set price at $300+ is no way kids can afford.

The real problem is it is too expensive for what you get compared to other Marvel sets. With the X-Men jet and this set Lego has significantly increased the price for what you get compared to other Marvel sets. Daily Bugle has almost 700 more pieces and 15 more figures and costs only $20 more than this

I gotta say, you did well to think beyond your own means of obtaining the set for free from Lego (for what is expected a glowing/positive review) and to think of an average person buying this set. The consensus is Lego cut too many corners and compromised the Mansion for $330. The stickers are out of control too and a few rather lazy character designs. For the high price prints are expected for an 18+ set. No excuses there. I really wanted to buy this set on day 1, but the GWP is lame as could be and this set was clearly over hyped. Looks like a $250-280 set max. I personally love the easter eggs and references throughout the building, but the cramped rooms make them only a static display arrangement with difficult to access walls and roofs. Yes the designers tried to split apart the building into sections, but at this scale there are too many rooms packed with details that interfere with playability. Best example is the non functional elevator and no stairs? Are you kidding? That has always been a staple of good modular buildings. At least one! Here it is totally a facade. You can see why Lego made the Modular museum somewhat sparse on the inside, preserving access and playability. I am in the camp where lego should have given this Mansion the Jabba Sail barge UCS treatment where scale matches closely with detail and at a more justifiably high cost. Perhaps adding an underground layer with a hangar and cerebro would have really made this set special and justified a $500 price tag. With the option to remove the ground floors and above to integrate into a Lego modular city or it stands alone. From the canon materials, the X-mansion has always been on an estate by itself with trees so this could work. Before you say "hey that's just wishful thinking!" , consider Lego made that super expensive Harry Potter Gringots UCS set with many levels. Lego could have reset the perception on the X-men line with the disastrous X-jet, but I think they dug themselves further into a bad perception of greed and amateur treatment.
