The role of insulin in our body, being important for sugar uptake after eating a meal, is well established. What is becoming more clear in the last couple of years is that insulin also plays an important role in our brain. In this talk, I will show some of the recent results that link insulin-related somatic diseases to neuropsychiatric disorders, including ADHD. In addition I will expand about the role of genetics showing how these connections are not the sole consequence of lifestyle choices.
