It’s always crazy to me how the Fairyodd Parents went from Timmys a neglected child who gets fairies to help him through tough times to some goofy nonsensical show that strayed so far away from the first few seasons like Vicky showed up less taking away his evil babysitter problem, Trixie vanished taking away his girl/romance problems and they just added a bunch of characters that added nothing

To be honest if Timmy had to share Cosmo and Wanda it should have been with Tootie if it had to be anyone within the show and not someone brand new girl. It would also help maybe with some character growth between Timmy and Tootie since it's proven that they're gonna end up together and have kids of their own. Planting the seeds of friendship between the two would make more sense and helping them balance each other out as well. I know there was that one episode Timmy did give Cosmo and Wanda to Tootie and tricked her into saying she didn't need the fairies because she was happy. But story wise and what the show was based around on Tootie should had been the one that Timmy had to share his fairies with.

American dad writers said they dropped the political jokes bc after the writters strike the season they had finished aired and by then all the references were outdated and they had to look up their own jokes to get them. Thats why they backed off the political jokes for more character development focused.

Detros OLLIE NORTH! He's a soldier.. and a hero... and a novelist... and now he's on Fox News. I've always appreciated the way American dad does politics (with hayley and stan as caricatures of the right and the left, with stan usually coming around to understanding hayley's pov) but i do think that dropping politics for the most part gave the show longevity. They kinda establish their political leanings (i'd call it relatively left or liberal, since stan is usually the character in the wrong) and then built an arguably better show off of that actually kinda wholesome message of heart, family, and understanding. That's what makes american dad, for me, stand out amongst the majority of edgy adult cartoons. It has a heart.

That episode with Timmy and his grandpa was messed up, because the episode implies he was committed after talking about the magical day he had with his grandson, and he never shows up again. I was under the impression that it was a popular episode (Nickelodeon would always run this commercial of Butch Hartman pitching a scene from the episode), so it's disappointing that his grandpa never returned for another episode.

American dad episodes have better plots, almost all characters have something interesting to do/give to the episode and interact with other side characters. A stan episode can give us the CIA crew, a Francine episode can give us Greg, Terry, Tutle, the whole neighboorhood, a steve episode can give us snot, toshi, barry, and roger can give us literally anyone. And note that there is almost no episode where we only focus on one fucking character and where the sidecharacters arent important too, except the roger episode where he has a double life with that girl from the glove store.
