What Luka has done here in Europe is unique. No other player that I remember has had such an amazing performance at Euroleague at such young age. Don't expect other players, such as Avdija, to be like Luka. Edit: Just to clarify, I'm not saying Deni is not a good player. Just saying it would be unfair comparing him to Luka, because that kid is special :)

Here's what I'm saying: It was easy to see Luka was the best prospect available in that draft by a mile WELL before the draft took place. If you saw the way he moved, his vision, his shooting ability and his poise it reminded me a lot of Jayson Tatum's game. The question mark for Luka heading into the draft was whether or not he was too unathletic to succeed in the NBA. We all know how that worked out. It should have been a very clear decision as far as I'm concerned and I was under the impression at the time he should have gone #1 overall, but I digress. This video is correct in saying that drafts will be wrecked for years because of his level of ability, but in all honesty the only reason people weren't high on him was because they didn't watch him play. What folks really didn't understand is that this kid was playing against grown men for the previous 4 years before he got to the NBA, the athletic disparity was a thinner margin than the casual fan was aware of. The bottom line for me: CHECK ON THE GOD DAMN INTERNATIONAL PROSPECTS (Killian Hayes)

But the teams had done their job. They scouted Luka extensively, and they had seen him play. The Suns passed on him because they already had Booker and wanted a very good big man prospect (And Ayton was just that). But the kings passed on him because (reportedly) Divac didn't like Luka's dad very much. Not because they had not seen him - they had, to the point that there are pictures of Divac, the Kings' owner, and Luka in Madrid, in a dinner after they had attended a Real Madrid game. NBA scouts were in regular attendance to Real Madrid games just to see Luka play. Now whatever they did with those reports is a whole different story. But the organizations had seen him play.

Basketball is relatively a young sport but it's one of the fastest growing sports in the world and therefore your going to see more and more quality players across the world. So I don't think your going to see a lot of busts but probably more quality but it's still going to be the same. There's going to be hits and misses on bothered international or U.S.

I think one of the biggest differences is that 16 year olds internationally are playing pro ball against adults and here they are stuck doing AAU. I'd think that makes it easier to see who has the work ethic to become better rather than relying on HS and maybe 1 year of "college" ball. The change for kids in the US to go to the NBA is much bigger than for international kids. A lot more variables and unknowns.

But it also goes to say that the overwhelming majority of Europeans in the next drafts will not be of the same pedigree and I think teams know that, I don’t see any drastic spike in the demand for international talent any time soon.
