For those that don't know Scott Ryan decided to end his show after season 3. He felt that he couldn't give the same quality in season 4 and wanted to move on to other projects. I think he was burnt out with the character. It not an issue of that can be solved by getting picked up by another network. He writes and stars and made the decision. While disappointing i got to respect the decision to end the show with the same great quality it began with rather than a slow drawn out death which isn't ray's style as we all know. lol

The episode about taking his daughter out to see the unicorn in the blue mountains and his brother and girlfriend went along,man that scene made me smile. I used to make these old pirates maps by putting paper in the oven on low after I rubbed them with wet Coffee grounds. Makes the paper look really old gives a real look to the old pirate map. Then we take our vacation down to the beach and I buried the map in the sand along the path we take and the girls would find it. And I had this old smaller chest and really old burlap bags that I put some toys necklaces all sorts of jewelry I get at the dollar store and pack that thing full of good treasure. For 10 bucks at the dollar store you can get a lot of stuff about 10 years ago love those places. Anyways I would pack that thing full then bury it based off the maps directions. And about the day after they found the map we’d go out treasure hunting. I loved watching them do stuff like that. Then sometimes we go out in the front yard of our house and we plant a single skittle or a single M&M about 6 inches in the dirt and then water it and put a little fertilizer on it and a little bit of my special formula that we’d make up the night before with spices and all sorts of stuff from the kitchen and mix it together and we poured on the spot where we buried the skittles and M&Ms. that night I’d go out in the woods and cut down a couple branches , plant them in the ground where we buried the candy, and then I would poke little holes in all the little miniature candy bags and take fishing line and tie them all over the branches that were sticking straight up like candy trees. The next morning the girls will come running into my room and say daddy daddy it worked the candy trees worked and we pick all the candy off the trees and bring them inside and share with mom. Just got back doing a cross country Road trip with my wife and daughters age 20 and 16 they picked the music I drove and it was the best trip of my life and there’s. We can never get time back but we can always have memories and create new ones . Anyways I don’t usually write on the Internet but that scene was pretty special thanks for ever posted video.

Haha nah man I’m an Aussie from Sydney too and the reason I just fucking adore this show so much is that it literally feels like something that could have gone on during my time at uni, mixing with some fairly dicey people from the outer western suburbs like the bra boys etc. This show is so well done and so true to real life that it genuinely brings back nostalgia for me for that era. My coke dealer and (loosely) bra boy roommate was so much like Ray in behavior and mannerisms it’s surprisingly uncanny. The way that the criminals talk and interact and deal with things in the show, it’s all so fucking exact that it makes me suspect that the lead actor also genuinely mixed (but a lot more, and with more serious types) with western suburbs drug dealers and hoods, and that like 80-90% of this show takes inspiration from from lived/observed experience. There’s no other way the show could feel so incredibly real to us people from Sydney, particularly who knew people like that.
@RevengeAvenger3 жыл бұрын
I definitely agree it's spot on. But are the Brah's Brogans or Frat boys?
@edward6573 жыл бұрын
@@RevengeAvenger Bra boys are thugs from the suburb Maroubra (hence the 'bra') who deal in drugs heavily, but many individuals are known for their violence to the extent that it's likely that they engage in a decent amount of small-time non-drug related criminal activity. If someone associated with them vouches for you they can be really friendly and generous (with their drugs mainly; surplus coke, weed), in a very typically Australian way which you don't see too much of anymore, but you shouldn't let this fool you about them though; to outsiders their behavior can be morally abhorrent. I would get sickened hearing some of their stories when they were hanging out with my mate (the one connected) while I was.

A while back I watched Fargo, loved it, then Atlanta, loved it, and I started to give FX programming a very serious look. Mr. Inbetween piqued my interest after I finished season 2 of Atlanta, and I watched the whole first season in one sitting, staying up way, way too late. Season 2 of Mr. Inbetween was another all night session a couple days ago, ending with some puffy eyes. Its a fantastic show. On the surface, the show seems like it should hit all the standard antihero buttons, and it does, but it offers a little something extra along the way that sets it apart. For one, Scott Ryan is able to pull off intimidation scenes flawlessly, and the series uses it to great effect on several occasions. He doesn't have to do anything aside from give a guy that unhinged smile, unblinking stare and your skin starts to crawl in sympathy for his victim. See it once or 100 times, you know that stare, and it always means trouble. That person doesn't care at all if you live of die. You may as well be a bug, which is why that ladybug scene is significant. The bug is harmless and in need of help. The man has made horrible choices and hurt others. Ray holds equal weight for anything living, so what's the difference between a bug and a man? Are they not equally alive? He clearly has a moral code, doesn't kill for pleasure, and it's very possible an innocent bug with a few days to live, struggling to escape a drowning if worth a few seconds of his time, while a man burdened by a history of cheating and fraud is probably better left to rot.

After watching this video back in February I watched more scenes on KZbin then decided to start watching it on Prime.. and the fact that it's now over with all 3 Seasons fully ingested...I'm left wanting selfishly MORE as I feel like a family member or good friend is gone. Mr Inbetween was a trifecta: as it made me LAUGH.. WEEP.. CHEER. Rare for a show or film to have that kinda multiple impact. BUT MORE importantly it taught me certain aspects about life and what it means to be a man.. how to be a friend ...a good parent... and how to react when we fail at those endeavors. ALL THIS it taught me while never forgetting the fact what Ray did "for a living"... and how the kind of man it takes to do such vile things is formed WITHOUT blaming childhood events directly for this OWN evil acts. THUS his inner YING and YANG tussle... creating the conflict within him... i.e. THAT WHICH MAKES US ALL HUMAN. I can go on but I'll leave it to the modern Siskell and Ebert's to sing its praises better than I ever could. Thanks again Dan. I'll check your channel regularly, hopefully find some new gems. 🖖

I love this show! don't know how I missed the first season, yeah Ray's a classic sociopath, by killing only those who we feel deserve killing, keeps us on his side. I like that the show takes place in Australia, similar, but different enough from the U.S. to make the characters interesting. I hope the show has several more seasons.
@slapslicks75315 жыл бұрын
Lol he killed his own friend 10 years prior because he wouldn't leave town. (Magician) His excuse "because if I did it, he wouldnt suffer" Ray is likable but you really got draw the line before using the word "deserve" when it comes to death. Lmfao.

Came across Mr Inbetween last week on Disney plus. I must say I'm really enjoying the journey with Ray and how he could get in trouble in an empty room. Well worth a look.

I’m a fan of Sopranos and Breaking bad, I agree with you this is up there with the big boys. It was so well written and acted. I really hope Scott Ryan gets the success he truly deserves.

As an Aussie I have to chime in and say this is some of the best Aussie produced stuff I’ve ever watched and I am fussy about what I watch. I don’t just automatically like something because it is Australia. Scott Ryan makes it! That grin!

I'm American and I wish you guys made more gritty crime dramas like this, because you nail it a lot of the time. There's something very unique about your cinema and television that I love. Can't wait for season 3, which comes out on May 25 for you guys.
@mikem36928 ай бұрын
You really nailed it in the intro. This was not a watered-down project run by an executive board-room. This was a passion project created by people who fully believed in what they were making. You can feel it in every episode.

One of the best TV shows since Breaking Bad, NO BS!! A very likeable but strong lead actor who is capable of humour one moment and extreme drama in the next. This coupled with a excellent supporting cast and strong writing that feature some original and inventive story lines....case in point being child abduction ending; which is one of the most chilling final ending sequences that been seen on TV in a long long time!!

This show is hands down best on telly in recent years. Everything about it, the plot, the cast, the characters, the entire premise. Being released like TV shows of old, watching a new episode each week meant we could find that old anticipation again, for a ridgey didge Aussie made show. The fact he's gone, yeah, I'm done now, time to move on is GOLD.... The story's been told, take what you will from it, was entertaining as f***, and damn anyone who says otherwise. A great bit of fun, good old Australiana style. F yeah!!! Oh, and that's not mentioning the fact it has to be the best, BEST, ending to any series of the last decade, maybe 2. Including fn Fargo, that can suck it Understated, underrated masterpiece!!!

This show is incredible. It gets way too many comparisons to Barry and Killing Eve but it stands on it's own unique ground. I really hope it gets a third season.
@charliedawson48775 жыл бұрын
It's actually a great companion piece to Barry. That show is all about a man trying to escape his life as a hitman. On the other hand, Ray seems to actually enjoy his work.

One of the best shows out there. Right now it's my favorite. Hate the fact I missed the first few episodes. Love the character Ray. He is so good to watch. Wonder how that stupid acting coach feels now. Everyone LIKE every KZbin Clip about MR.INBETWEEN. I know their tracking how many ppl watch but let's do all we can to get another season. I haven't looked forward to Thursday night this much since Friends was running.
