"Somehow Grogu returned." They didn't even address Grogu returning in the RECAP. Season 2 ends with one of the two main characters leaving, and now he's back after reuniting in a different show. Wow...

@@freddied8479 I think we use the word "great" a bit to much when it comes to The Mandalorian... The show has some moments and given me hope at times, but so much of it is amateur. Like they are throwing shit against the wall to see what sticks. When its being held up next to Andor its flaws only become more obvious. Andor, a show with many more restrictions story telling wise and even interest wise just makes the absolute most of every min you are watching and its a great example of less is more. Mando, Obi, and Boba all seem like experiments and mistakes are fine Its like Disney is saying "hey we are just screwing around" So much of its down right lazy.

This episode REALLY convinces me that the BoBF Chapter 5 episode mando had was supposed to be the real first episode of this season. Like when you look at that episode it was crazy over the top, cool new setting in space, shows off the dark saber, and it gave us ALOT of background for Mandalore and the current plot of The Mandalorian. Chapter 5 in BoBF had a lot of set up for this show and NO relevance for Boba, and its very abrupt for people who skipped BoBF to go into this season without that episode. This first episode for Mando was underwhelming because we already technically had the 1st episode almost a year ago.

Also mando became pretty attached to ig 11 and had started to trust him. However it’s still a dumb idea to bring him back. He was clearly completely and utterly destroyed in the self destruct explosion. In the first season he repeatedly said that the reason he had to self destruct was because his manufacturer’s protocol dictated that he *must* not be captured alive under any circumstances. What is the point of the self destruct sequence if the droid can still be recovered after the explosion? That violates the manufacturer’s protocol!

What frustrated me most was them bringing back IG-11. After seeing Andor it’s really starting to get frustrating when character deaths aren’t taken seriously. I was really annoyed by the Bo-Katan scene. You mean to tell me that because Din accidentally claimed the Darksaber in his fight with Moff Gideon, Bo-Katan's followers just peaced out on her? She didn't have the Darksaber before and they were by her side; all of a sudden, she's lost all relevance and authority? That's ridiculous; it makes no sense at all. Also, pinning the blame for the scattering of the Mandalorians on the Children of the Watch is pretty rich coming from her, considering that she did a lot more to damage the unity of the Mandalorians in the past. Also, bringing IG-11 back undermines his sacrifice in the Season 1 finale. He went out in the most badass way possible, but because the writers can't help themselves with doling out more fan service and memberberries, they're bringing him back and shoehorning in Babu Frik to facilitate that return. I mean, I love me some Babu Frik, but it's just another way to shove in the fan service.

The dumbest thing in the alligator fight is when they shoot their grappling hooks into it. The thing is enormous. The only thing that would do is give the creature an opportunity to kill them which is what happens. It was the most contrived stupid decision possible just to put them in a position of needing to be saved. Also, they clearly could have just run into the cave which is what I assumed they would do from the start.

I fear it will continue like this, Seasons 1+2 were more Episodic in nature, adventure of the Week, that is why it worked so well. S3 is a serialized format now, they warned us the format had changed because it is all about Mandalore this Season and he is not planet hopping so much anymore. I love serialized storytelling IF i can binge watch the damn Season all at once. Same as with Andor, Kenobi and Boba Fett, you always get one story drip fed over multiple weeks and its just excruciating if the plot moves so damn slow. If you can just sit down and watch the whole thing then it is probably really good, but 2 months to watch one 4 hour movie that is split in 30 minute segments.... uuuuuugh can we please just stop doing this?

I swear after Mando Season 2 I believed the fan theories about an internal civil war going on at Lucasfilm between Kennedy and co. vs. Jon and Dave. I was convinced with Luke being there they were setting up the world between worlds for Ahsoka to use and she was going to reset the events of the Sequel Trilogy so it never happened and Luke gets a proper chance to be himself again. After that finale I almost believed there was hope to salvage the franchise. And then Kennedy fired Gina Carano....

I know they brought Grogu back in Boba Fett, but like this season should have been moving on with the story and getting Grogu back in the next season Everything's trying to go back to the way it was or did go back to the way it was, and very little set up for a direction for this season outside of just becoming a Mandalorian again The whole thing just took me out of it

If they didn't try to revive IG-11 haphazardly in the first place and took him straight to the technicians, we might have saved ourselves some fluff. Din basically showed up, ruined the town statue, broke the part he needed, and now has to go on an episode or two of finding the replacement. Also if the technicians were able to repair IG, why didnt they just do that in the first place instead of making him a goddamn statue?? IG was already dead in S1E1 (one blaster shot to the head by Din) and rebuilt for the S1 finale.

A ‘just average’ episode for the opening chapter of such a massive, extremely highly anticipated season is in a way almost more frustrating than just an overall bad episode. I totally understand the need for setup, but they could have done several things to tighten it. Even Mando himself felt like a plot device specifically meant for exposition and rehashing things we already know with all his very useless lines pointing out the obvious. Pacing was off. Way too short of an episode in general. We’ve already seen just about almost literally the exact same scene we saw in The Book of Boba Fett as we got here in the opening of this episode directly after the title card where he visits the Armorer once again and she tells him the only way to redeem himself as a Mandalorian is to bathe in the springs of the mines beneath the surface of Mandalore, blah blah blah. It’s whatever, just a bit aggravating that Disney never seems to learn their lesson from mistakes they’ve made in the past and time and time again continue to make those same exact mistakes, despite all the complaints from the majority of the audience! They either just don’t care to listen, or they have heard the pushback, but it means seemingly nothing to them… 🤦‍♂️ 😒 Pretty generous 7/10, only because I have faith things will pick up very quickly soon enough and get very tense/exciting in no time at all. I will say that I was entertained throughout most of the episode though, of course, just not quite thoroughly satisfied enough as I wanted to be or was expecting, that’s all! ✌🏼

Grogu is a worst thing happens to this show. Because he is famous they can't just get rid of him .... Give me normal bounty hunter story's , not kids crap . Second season was shit now it's gets even worse .

I loved the tone season 1 set. I wish they kept it like that

This episode was closer to season 1 than 2. He was basically doing side quests.

Somewhat random but does the Armourer add all the life support and electronics as well to the helmet or is it just a very tough metal bucket?

The fact that this series doesn’t explain grogu coming back and they make you watch a different serious to get the explanation is outright criminal

I thought it looked cool on my TV; I'm just really impressed by TV show sets and effects these days versus when I was younger, especially being able to watch shows on larger flat screen TVs versus the much smaller square shape TVs when I was a kid.

"They wouldn't put all of that effort into that just for it not to come back." Remember back in Book of Boba Fett when the Hutts were teased as the main villains and then in the VERY NEXT EPISODE they just show up at Jabba's palace to say "we're sorry, here's a Rancore. Bye!" And then we never heard from them again.

I feel like people are way too forgiving to this average show because the lead character looks cool and the music is amazing.

100%. Its baffling how this painfully bland show has attracted such praise.

How is it an average show? This episode might have been average television but there are a lot of better episodes throughout the series I don't think it's as good as Andor though

@@akmal94ibrahim you don't have to compare to shows all the time, thats like comparing The Godfather to every movie in existence, also theres a reason Andor flopped and Mando didn't just sayin...
