7:52 okay so something really funny about the original fatal fury was that you couldn't go into the background unless the CPU did so. And the next time you jumped, you would automatically jump into the background. However, everytime you jumped into the background, the cpu would likely jump back into the normal part of the stage. And if you tried to jump back into the normal stage, the cpu would jump back into the background at the same time. This meant that you and the cpu would basically reenact that one meme where a woman and man pass by each other in their cars.

27:00 This freestyle system actually reminds me of the old JoJo's Capcom game (Heritage for the Future), aside from having an awesome active/passive stand system (probably my favorite gimmick in any fighting game). Some stand users could 'Tandem', where you would do the Tandem special then input a bunch of attacks, this would then launch the stand forward and they would perform the moves you input whilst you were free to act (stand moves were also different from normal character moves, part of the active stand system, but that's irrelevant here). This naturally resulted in some real degenerate combos with like 6 high/low left/right mixups in a row, maybe even with grabs mixed in. At least this time both characters can't attack at once lmao.

I love when people react to Injustice in videos like these because that was the first fighting game I decided I was gonna learn how to play. Imagine your first fighting game being that broken ass game with characters that can hit you with lows from halfway across the screen and side-switching teleports that you can barely react to. The next game I got into was Marvel 3 and that's still the game I play the most. I really threw myself into the deep end.

6:38 yeah... Scorpion's teleport was just ported directly into Injustice 1 without any tweaks initially and resulted in him being a funny top tier. Admittedly tho, there was a consustent answer to this in that game since crouching automatically blocked crossups in the Injustice games... for some reason. People didn't realize this at the time tho until the move was nerfed to be a duckable high attack

Speaking as someone who loves Rivals more than any other platform fighter... nothing is gonna dethrone Smash unless they stop making Smash games. There has never been a crowd of players more driven by vanity than the (casual) platform fighter playerbase. Think about Smash, NASB, Multiversus, and Brawlhalla for more than a second and tell me why you think they're always at the top of the list whenever people think of Platform Fighters? It's because they all have characters that people already know. Brawlhalla gets that buff because of their constant crossover stuff. and as much as I hate to admit it, Rivals has pretty much been the 5th pillar because it gained a lot of casual players via the Workshop. Anyways, make sure to buy Rivals 2 when it comes out. Thanks!

I have seen this in basically every community I'm in; every single person always asks "well how do we topple The Big Name". The answer is you don't, because the Big Name has usually been big since the 90s and you literally just don't have the widespread credibility that the big name has. No TCG is going to "beat" Magic. No monster collecting game is going to "beat" Pokemon. No platform fighter is gonna "beat" Smash. As much as I love Kragg with all my heart, HE'S NOT FUCKING _MARIO._
