I have always wondered as to whether the empire could potentially try and contact the sea elves to help against the Thalmor as they have the strongest fleet on Nirn. It would be really cool to see the imperial and sea elven navies invade Alinor.
@e-cavalier27394 жыл бұрын
@Tomáš Pavlík To be honest, the Thalmor could probably beat back both of them unfortunately.
@e-cavalier27394 жыл бұрын
@Tomáš Pavlík Yes but what you fail to consider is that whilst the elves are weak after the war, the Empire are even weaker. As seen with the stormcloaks, the empire is divided and faltering whilst the thalmor seem to be regaining strength.
@e-cavalier27394 жыл бұрын
@Tomáš Pavlík Yes the nords and redguards will fight however they will be divided and uncoordinated whereas the elven troops will be controlled by a central command which is a huge advantage. As for the population difference, the elves make up for this with their superior magical ability
@e-cavalier27394 жыл бұрын
@Tomáš Pavlík Firstly I doubt that the dark elevs will help the empire and secondlay you fail to consider that valenwood and elswyr are supporting thalmor armies throughout Tamriel. Cyrodil's flank is completly exposed.

Must say that the Sea Eves full armor is ESO might be one of the games best one in terms of appearance. I really dig that helmet and color combination. The shield is a bit to small for my taste as I think it would have looked far better if bigger.

True
@thebeyblademaniac4 жыл бұрын
Shields in ESO are generally very small. It's something that disappoints me greatly as a player that loves fashion. The biggest shields I know of are the Senchal Shield and the Order of the Hour shield. I wish they'd increase shield sizes by about 25% or so across the board but seeing as how every other shield looks like a tiny dinner plate I'm assuming it'll never happen :/
@antonakesson4 жыл бұрын
@@justanothertrash5062 So why not make them out of wood? It is better to have a fully functional shield that protects bigger parts of your body then a tiny, heavy, kite shield. A big wooden one would also float so that is even better then the tiny one. Then is the fact that the dude that is holding the shield in the picture is in full plate armor so he will sink regardless so why not have a big floaty shield then one that acts like an anchor? Also, don't the maormer have magic that allows them to breath underwater? Pretty sure an underwater enchantment would be worth their money in that culture.
@antonakesson4 жыл бұрын
@@justanothertrash5062 Also just searched for Maormer shields and they have big metal shields so that explanation makes no sense as they have big heavy shields.
@antonakesson4 жыл бұрын
@@justanothertrash5062 There are literal enchanters that have that as business. Here is a literal quote, in universe; "Anyone can become an enchanter-it doesn't matter who you are, or who you were. I spent twenty years pulling fish from the waters of Black Marsh before stumbling into the world of enchanting. If a former Argonian fisher-slave can figure it out, so can you!" - Enchanting Made Easy, ESO. You are right in that it wouldn't be cheap but in a culture that is nearly only at sea you can not tell me that underwater breathing wouldn't be more common as it is not unobtainably expensive. There have been farmers saving up for enchanted goods so it is not a rich men only affair. There are also spells that allow for underwater breathing and the Maormer have been using those many a time during there raids so if there is one race that could make such an enchantment affordable it would be them.

I will...um...change your eye color...and make your skin darker...yeah...curse..." Especially when you consider that their skin is also fire resistant, a very good thing for their environment, much like he maomer's adaptations are for theirs, it doesn't sound much like a curse unless you are approaching it with some rather racist preconceptions generated by our culture, not theirs.
@danielshore14573 жыл бұрын
I think with the dunmer it was a curse in a sense that the chimer saw themselves as like clean and pure with their golden skin but then like that pride is taken away, I saw a comment somewhere saying that perhaps the curse for the sea elves was more they can't actually step on land or something hence why they haven't just attacked Summerseat etc

I don’t really think them referring to themselves as “the true high elves” has much to do with what they look like, every other elven race is named by something that relates to them dark elves have dark ashen skin, wood elves live in large woods and have brownish skin, snow elves lived in snow, deep elves lived deep underground, and sea elves of course lived in the sea. But high elves doesn’t reflect a physical feature (unless if it’s supposed to be referring to their height,) no that’s supposed to be them saying we’re the highest race, so when the sea elves say they’re the true high elves they don’t mean they look like the current ones, they mean they’re the best race, they’re high elves.

@@rokturi yes I have one of their patrols accused me of Talos worship even though I was a high elf role playing an Auriel worshipper. It’s clear based on everything we know about the high elves that they are very egotistical, they believe they’re the best race because they’re actually Aedra trapped in the bodies of mortals, they believe they’re the best elven race because they’re the most true to their ancestors the Aldmer, and they believe they’d make the best rulers of Tamriel because when men create a mess of the continent they’re the ones who clean it up. And it’s for this reason they justify their plans of genocide against humanity.

It's referring to them being the true Aldmer. They call it the Sundering of Aldmeris because the Aldmer split into o many groups. What the most egotistical of the elven races mean by "true high elves" is that they are the closest to the Aldmer, as in physical appearance, magical ability, culture, etc. It's not just that they think they're the greatest race, they thing they're the closest race to the race they believe was the most perfect race.

-Drew and Michael are clearly paid off by the Thalmor Party -Maormer Leviathans being made through sorcery is probably an Altmer lie. We see in the description of their skin that some Maormer are just born with that trait. It's pretty clear to me that there are just several subraces of Maormer. (as we see in the physical differences between the Storm Sharks, a core clan, and the Sea Vipers, a splinter clan) -Pyandonea was more professionally described as a series of massive *jungle* plateaus jutting out of the ocean. -For all we know the Maormer most closely resemble the Aldmer, especially if *Orgnum is actually an Aldmer AND looks the same as the rest of his people (the Maormer).* -Nobody believes Maormer came from summerset or were descended from the Altmer and both sides agree they were exiled Aldmer. -Orgnum's interractions with the Empire at least are accepted historically, but also there are a lot of writings addressing him specifically and with plenty of detail. (particularly the Khenarthi's Roost treaty) -Sea Elves DID in some capacity have relations with Hammerfell. Some even lived there. -Sea Elves also tame other beasts, including massive turtles as seen in their siege of Sunhold. -The Captain Wereshark saga actually does incorporate at least some certifiably real characters that you can meet in ESO. Neramo the Altmer for one I can remember. -THE STORY OF FINORIEL swimming to Pyandonea is obviously not true both because of how impossible it is and because NOBODY ELSE WAS THERE TO HAVE WRITTEN ABOUT IT AND SHE DIED

Going off of what you implied with the homogenization of playable races the further along we get in the development of the Elder Scrolls games, isn't it possible that the Maormer do, in fact, possess more beast-like traits such as webbed digits or gills in the (as of yet unwritten) lore that are simply not present in ESO or other later games in order to simplify race presentation? I certainly adore the notion of what you suggested - where the Maormer do have some of these traits that make them more survivable in an aquatic environment.
