Sounds like a great movie... I was expecting 89 minutes of discussing how they feel about the bad guy, fashion, make-up techniques and, favorite exercise routines. With the last few minutes covered by Brie getting up to fetch them another round of coffee, but having to deck a man ahead of her in line for looking back over his shoulder, maybe - but not definitely - at her, for three seconds. Edit: forgot the post credit scene... where she kicks him when he's down for good measure.

I'd say it's a combination of expectations, reasonably competent casting/acting direction, and humour that sometimes manages to land. I don't like the movie myself, in any real respect, but it doesn't surprise me people would've been more tolerant/less observant of its (under?)tones. Also, keep in mind, most people who watched it likely aren't marvel vets, who are seasoned to picking out stuff like that from a movie.

I had the same thoughts about the baddy actress, but then thought, does Hiddleston REALLY have enough clout at the MCU to actually convince them to cast his fiancé as one of the 'lead' characters? Or is that perhaps part of the reason we ended up with a Loki Season 2? Her performance didn't look great in the trailers, but I'm impressed if Hiddleston has enough 'power' in Hollywood to influence the casting choices for major roles in big Studio movies! And with Loki apparently finally being 'OVER', what else does Tom have to offer now? Is Disney doing some other big project with the guy soon?
