See? This is what Blood and Honey was missing. This may be super low budget, with the killer being a well-known childhood icon to grab attention, but you can tell a lot of heart genuine care went into it, with the intention of just having fun making a movie. That's what separates the so bad it's good, from the just plain bad. I love all the nods to other Seuss books and David Thorton made for a great Grinch. And I'm glad James got to host a screening.

I was watching Stream the other day, and David Howard Thornton's character, Player 2, is first shown tying up a noose on a tree from far away. But the moment he sees someone looking at him, faking a startle and proudly showing off his handywork he's instantly recognizable. There's a scene later where a woman is running from him, and it's quite horrible, except I couldn't stop laughing because while this injure naked woman is running screaming her lungs out, Player 2 is being a pretty little ballerina while chasing her.

I like coming back to this Kill count as a reminder of why I find this horror movie using a well-known children's icon from the past better than the ones that made it to the public domain. These guys made the trailer for fun originally, only for it to get a full length movie. Movies like Blood & Honey and the Mouse Trap are clearly set up as cash grabs, while The Mean One was made through an idea that someone had, and it picked up steam.

This is what I love about Dead Meat…. I have seen other commentary videos on this movie and they were definitely harsh regarding the quality of the film. With this video, James of course points out the obvious shortcomings… but brings out the family, the efforts of the cast and crew. He mentions the other accolades of the cast and crew and goes into the set designs and stunt effects. It single-handedly changed my opinion of this movie, and I love it ❤❤

The problem with Trans-Siberian Orchestra's work is that their Christmas concerts make bank and are all they're really known for, but they've done some really moody, creepy, harder stuff like Beethoven's Last Night which is a concept album where Mephistopheles visits Beethoven on the night he dies to offer him a deal for his soul. They were going to do a live tour of it but the Christmas concerts take up so much time and space that I don't think it ever happened. Anyway TSO rocks and this kill count is awesome.

MAN the makeup for the Mean One is freaking incredible, especially for an indie film with this low of a budget. I don’t even care if the movie isn’t good, they clearly were mainly doing this for fun, and just the fact that the makeup looks that good speaks volumes to me.
