I just found your channel this week. I love it! I’m from Leeds but have lived here in the USA for over 36 years and at age 70 my Yorkshire accent is getting stronger! I can’t believe, not only that I’m 70, but that I’m telling people what things used to cost when I was a child like old people did to me. Like a loaf of bread being a penny and all that. Honestly I’m shocked at the price of one portion of fish ‘n’ chips nowadays! In the 1960s you could have bought them for the entire street for 16 pounds. By the early 70s our family had 9 children and we could get fish and chips for 1 shilling and 4 pence a portion in old money before decimalization skyrocketed prices of everything. So we could get giant pickled onions and mushy peas and still get some change. Scraps were free.

Another enjoyable vid James. Again stirring my memory banks. As Jayne and me only went Cornwall once, We loved going Brixham but for a change Jayne booked us 2 weeks at the Kenegie manor holiday park Cornwall. We thought the roads around Brixham and Devon in general were narrow at times, But going from the holiday park to surrounding areas the roads had way more narrow roads. talk about having plan ahead as you were driving so you can reverse back to make space for oncoming cars if needed. We absolutely loved our time there. We visited lands end and ive a picture of the day and date we visited 1st July 2015. Thanks again James. oh and when on holidays its about doing things that make the time enjoyable and though we never visited said chippy. We did eat out a few times and it wasnt cheap but the food was always nice. Which is what matters we made special memories . And i also enjoyed the lovey dovey chatter today when Helen rang you. Thats what couples do when they are inlove. At least thats how we talked. cheers.looking forward to eventually getting through all the vids youve made.

Firstly, Helens a Brahma (as we say in Barnsley) you're always going to have your critics. She's a breath of fresh air and you make a fantastic couple because you're both nutters(in the nicest way possible)lol You're becoming quite the connoisseur of fish and chips, James and I certainly appreciate you giving us the heads up where the best meals are. I think most places will be out of season now, but Port Isaac (Port Wenn in Doc Martin) is quite nice. Went have been down Cornwall a few times with our caravan staying at one near St Ives and it cost us over a £1000 for 10 days. We then found places that you can rent and we stayed at a bungalow, two bedrooms, tow bathrooms, kitchen garage ETC and that was a £1000 for 2 weeks. So that is what we do from now on and leave the caravan at home. We stayed in Redruth which is in the middle part of Cornwall,. but then all the coasts around were around 30 minutes away so it is well recommended. If you haven't left Padstow? the blue building in the background 19:39 is a hatchery where they bring up baby lobsters to keep the population growing and you can visit that. Another place to visit, but not sure if they do beer is 'Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm' where you can taste different varieties. I would love to live in Cornwall, but at my age now, I don't think it is going to happen. Great video and lots of memories for me (Albeit a lot warmer when we go).

Loved your vlog - but missed Helen 🤪. We live in Cornwall and it’s great to see you down here. Some tips for you - for a decent pint try Hicks or Tribute. Both St Austell brewery and much better than Doom! If you come back here in Summer, then come in May of June. We’ve lived here since 2008 (moved down from Bradford) and those months are best weather and not too busy. July & August are a nightmare cos of school holidays, and August is the rainy season - believe me! If you’re still here and want to see a lovely beach, come down to Hayle where we live and head for Godrevy - National trust, and see the gorgeous beach. 3 miles of beautiful sand. Good pub is The Bucket of Blood - in Phillack, Hayle. Then if you do want to see St Ives it’s just about 5 miles further down the coast. Hope you get down here, it’s lovely. X

Great video. Keep up the good work. As a fellow Yorkie, I couldn't agree more with your comments. We were in Padstow last year and tried Rick's chippy. "They're alright" just sums them up. Not the best and not the worst. We got some from the other chippy overlooking the harbour in the centre. Now those DID deserve a thumbs down. Cold, batter like sliced bread, just dreadful! The Cafe Rojana with the brazier outside is a great place to eat too. It's Paul Ainsworth's place. Really relaxed atmosphere, great food, and they were most welcoming to us and even our grandkids. You should try to review and score the Cornish pasties as I did last year, unfortunately not in the form of a vlog. They range from the absolutely delicious to the downright dog food. Get yourself down to Wetherby Whaler on Calder Island in Wakefield for some great fish and chips and it's much closer to home for you. As for Doom Bar, well enough said! I drank Cornish Gold while there.
