Don't pass on the Kia Niro Hybrid either! To me, the Niro hybrid competes better with the Corolla Cross Hybrid. What do you think?!

It doesn’t have parking sensors or 360 camera. Still good but in this age, where cars are getting bigger and parking spots smaller, these features are almost necessity. I’d still consider Kia niro hybrid tho. The only thing is I hope they make car more quieter as time goes on. It still has more tech than Corolla though and receives more mpg than Corolla. My only problem is that if I buy a h6brid, I might consider Toyota just because of their reliability. By then, I also hope that Corolla undergoes a new design as well.

I'm going to tell you, I drove this car a little more than one year ago (I'm based in France). This vehicle is just amazing, like really good. It's better than the compact Corolla overall. But .... We have the Corolla touring sports that sells like hotcakes all over Europe! And I can testify that as good as the civic is, it doesn't get on Toyota's way at all. It doesn't take away the quality of the car! It's simply great! And I would recommend it to absolutely anyone who doesn't want a Corolla! Edit : drove it more than a year ago

@@rightlanehog3151 it really depends on your needs. I've had the Corolla, and I test drove the Civic. Both of them are amazing, the Civic interior is nicer, same for the multimedia system. It's also a tad wider, but in the end, the Corolla touring sports fits me better to move my family!

Was almost sold on the new Accord but couldn't stomach what they did to the exterior. Now I'm just waiting on the Civic hybrid and will most definitely get a hatch. The Corolla can't compete with this, and the Prius is lacking interior volume. Plus, Toyota dealers still trying to tack on markups + their little TSRP BS, and I just don't want to support that behavior.

My sister still drives a 2001 Honda Civic sedan and loves it. She thought it might be time for a new car so I took her to look at the 2023 Civic and after about 5 minutes with it she decided that she liked her car better. IMHO there hasn't been a great Civic after the 2005 model year. Everything after that is dull and boring and/or too big and or has a CVT and now almost no manual transmissions and most trim levels in Canada have a moonroof which means no headroom. I don't even look at Civic any more and I was a loyal and satisfied Civic owner for years. I had a 1981 4 door hatchback manual trans, a 1987 CRX manual trans (best Civic ever) , a 2002 Civic Coupe manual trans and a 2005 Acura RSX manual trans (which was just a fancy Civic with a bit more HP). I am hoping to buy my sister's Civic when she sells it and put some money into to it to fix it up. It still has the original clutch in it after 24 years!

My friend got a new Prius, and its a great looking car. However Im 6'1 and big, and the rakish windshield made it difficult to get in the front passenger side of the car. I wouldnt want to even try getting in the drivers seat. I have a '22 civic sedan, and the car is much more comfortable and easier to get inside. Im looking forward when the lease ends later this year to get a '25 hatch. I think the usuablity, size, and handling of the car(not to mention good styling) will make this car a top seller. Hondas only mistake was not releasing this car when they had one in Europe. Honda is always reactive not proactive, which is why in the long run, they will never outsell toyota.

@@ms.b9093 its a little bit of an issue, but otherwise the car's roof has space for me and someone taller. Seat has good range of motion for a variety of sizes. However, I keep asking myself if I should just wait for more updates on the Prelude and potentially wait another year (Hopefully not much longer) and just get that. Although that would make me lose so much practicality. I do own a truck, but a nice big hatchback is hard to beat for the longer drives while carrying things that don't need a truck. Those tiny cars have such low clearance, before AWD would be very effective, you will bottom out in snow from the few inches of ground clearance. I've watched a bunch of videos where they actually think snow tires in the winter make a bigger difference than AWD.

It still amazes me that Honda is still a big seller in the USA. Here in Australia, sales of Hondas, right across the range, have absolutely tanked. Honda has dropped to position 20 in the sales race and had their lowest sales since 1995. Honda Australia seems to have just given up despite having a relay good range of vehicles. I’ve been considering buying a Civic e-HEV (that’s the hybrid model) for nearly a year but have held back for fear that Honda may well pull out of Australia altogether. That would be a real pity as the Civic hybrid is a really competent hatchback. You guys are gonna love it. If the powertrain is e:hev, then it might do better in highway. I like Honda version of hybrid, their e:hev, is essentially like nissan epower but in highway it uses the gas engine at higher speed, otherwise it acts much like an ev. Smooth all the way compared to the kia Hyundai 1.6turbo hybrid, which without ev support at low speed can feel really rough. But the 1.6turbo does have more power, (just really either too much or too little without ev) up to around 250hp in their newest cars, around 230hp in current cars. I like the look of the civic refresh. Just didn’t get the whole vibe of the current civic. The last civic was awesome too, especially the c shape tail lights.

👍🏻👍🏻 We can speculate what Honda might do with the civic. If they follow suit we should see two base trims naturally aspirated 2.0. We should see three hybrid trims. They most likely drop the 1.5T or reserve it for a SI. My guess it will be gone. Unless they go the other way and drop the 2.0 na. We will see. How fun for us!

Here is Vancouver BC Canada, the Prius Prime SE is ~$42000. Taxes are 12%, rebates (Provincial + Federal) are $7000. Out the door price is therefore ~$40000. It's arguably a better buy then the regular Prius (less power but has AWD) which has no government incentives. A loaded Civic hatchback is ~$37000. So I think the Prius Prime, with superior performance and efficiency, is very competitive here against other compact cars in that price range.

All the customization etc. is completely unnecessary and only adds to the cost to buy and the longer term cost of ownership. Hybrid volume - well remember it is all about supply, and they have very few "full electric" consuming all those resources. They have - I think correctly - skipped over the new Toyota Prius (I have only seen one on flatbed truck) and gone more towards what Corolla and Elantra Hybrid thinking - tweak it out of the sedan platform to (hopefully) not make it silly expensive which sorry folks, defeats it economic reason for existing - so you sell the farm to save the cow and feel good about yourself. When I looked at the Elantra (this is not so much the case now because of demand) but it used to be about $2000 more which - cram the number and what you are getting and it suddenly is "this makes very good sense .. if you can get one at the normal price, and if you have that little bit extra money".

Civic hybrid is really tempting, but no AWD and subpar highway fuel efficiency make it difficult to choose over the Prius. I live in Canada and will need to use highway roads a decent amount in the coming years. Other than that, the Civic beats out the Prius in driving feel and dynamics, sound system, usable space and I think cabin noise as well. If only Honda put some effort into gearing it for the highway properly and perhaps AWD it would be the perfect package.
