funny you called this Cedar Flags. there's a KZbin channel called Cedar Flags. as for the merger, I kind of feel like The bigger they come, the harder they fall. Now it's a massive company, probably with a lot of debt and at some point it's gonna fall. The other thing is I'm from Cleveland and recently the Indians changed their name. Now all of a sudden Cedar Point is a Six Flags park. feels like the end of civilization. mayhem. it's too much to wrap my head around

LOL, that tongue-in-cheek logo for "Cedar Flags"! Interesting mechanic's perspective shared about Falcon's Flight. I didn't even think about the challenge of dealing with overheating wheels. I believe that was also an issue on Intimidator 305 initially, and it's why they now cool down the wheels with sprinklers after every ride.

I remember hearing a rumor that Velocicoaster was chewing through wheels daily after opening - Intamin eventually found a compound that could last longer than that, but I imagine Falcon's Flight will be several orders of magnitude more demanding than that.

Not happy about this at all because first I saw what six flags did to the former adventure world in Maryland and it's since become one one of the redheaded stepchilds of the chain. With rides constantly removed and nothing nee added. When batwing was added added in 2001 it became the last new coaster that the park ever got. They have only gotten 2 hand me downs . I stopped visiting SFA in 06 when they decided to add another Waterpark expansion for 07. By. This time cedar fair had purchased kings dominion ( we all know that the real reason for the purchase is because cedar fair wanted kings island but paramount parks would only only agree agree to a sale if it were an all or nothing package deal) and things looked good as cedar started investing in the park, that is until inntimidator with all its problems came along...cedar fair pulled a "batwing" on us only this time we're seeing coasters being removed at the rate of every couple of years.. ....volcano definitely isn't getting a wing coaster now and all that money spent on jungle expedition expansion is just wasted as a result.

@@amanor409 I know. A guy can dream though, right? I mean.... who doesn't want no unnecessary seat belts on Diamondback? Do yourself a favor, either unclip your seat belt on Diamindback, or Orion, at the top of the lift hill, or go ride Raging Bull without getting stapled. B&M has mastered the "floater air time" and to experience it the way B&M designed it to be is absolutely great. Especially at KI where the ride ops are not afraid to let you go with the "if it's green it rides" motto. I'm not a big guy, (honestly I might be kind of skinny?) and I get the "click click, it's green" treatment at KI all the time. I LOVE the ride ops at KI. So you don't want to go without the belt with that setting. Bring it down 3 clicks, and it's perfect. You may feel like you're coming out. I think that's what B&Mhad in mind when designing the clam shell restraints.

I did an interview with a responsible person at Intamin for Falcon‘s Flight about it being do-able and he insists that it‘s real, thought through and it‘ll work. (Well, they even started constructing some of the track already - but this doesn‘t mean much in Saudi Arabia).

I’ve never heard of anything like that but I can’t see that technology applied to amusement park stuff. Mainly used for long distance high speed. As far as I know you can’t pull a 3g high bank corner with that system.

If the merger could somehow help staffing issues at Cedar Point that would be a huge benefit for Cedar Fair. Cedar Point had advertised multiple hiring events this year and they still had shortages. Hopefully Cedar Fair keeps free parking as a season pass benefit going forward.
@crooked-halo10 ай бұрын
My hobby & my passion is wooden roller coasters and traditional amusement parks. So, this merger is meaningful to me only insofar as it preserves, and results in higher-quality maintenance, of the few great wood coasters at Six Cedar Flags Fair. Gold Striker is my biggest concern since it's one of the world's best wood coasters, and Great America is slated to close & move in a few years. This is also Great America's signature & most popular attraction. Relocating this top-tier wood coaster to the new park is the reasonable & economical choice. The _best thing_ that could happen to Six Flags would be losing the _stupid_ Marvel cartoon characters.
@Missglam6710 ай бұрын
I do have a silly question though. Actually two. Lately I have seen mature adults like my age and even seniors working at my home parks. For extra money and maybe just $hits and giggles I might apply. How can I be a ride operator. The other question might sound even sillier but do you happen to know what those flags are for on the peaks of the lift hills on primarily wooden coasters? Are they just decorations or do they have some utilitarian purpose? I know nobody ever asks questions like that but I always wondered. I like them actually because they are an alert or a indicator of the thrilling experience that is about to happen as you approach them at the top of the lift hill.
@ryantheridemechanic10 ай бұрын
The flags are just advertising most of the time. Parks used to top off the high point with an American flag and then one of the park. But that’s about it. Ride operation, just apply to the park. Pay is not great but they rely on older people when the younger kids have to go home due to work permits from schools.
@Missglam6710 ай бұрын
@@ryantheridemechanic thanks for the info. That makes sense. I know working at a park in an entry level position doesn’t pay much. I applied to my home park Six Flags Magic Mountain several years ago but not for a park position but a Human Resources position. I had lots and lots of experience but I did notice there were several people applying for the same position that already worked in the park. I knew this because they showed up for the interview wearing the staff uniforms. Well I didn’t get the job despite calls back for a 2nd and a 3rd. I asked for feedback and they did admit that they prefer to hire from within. They did say they’re impressed and if I would like an entry level position it would be easier to get a promotion. I was a bit disappointed but never hard feelings. But for a 2nd job for extra cash I might consider it

Most of Intamins business is in Europe. Intamin will be fine. This new conglomerate, if they refuse to work with Intamin, or RMC, will suffer because they will get no top tier thrill rides. People will start to switch to Busch Gardens, Universal, Hershey Park, etc. that have the new Intamin 6 launch blitz coaster. People will get bored with 20 B&M coasters in the parks.
