Range Rover is backordered ~1 year. Range Rover is production constrained. Every BEV RR sale would be one less ICE or PHEV sale. And right now likely at a smaller profit. Jaguar Land Rover is a small company with relatively small research and development budget. They are backed by Tata but Tata doesn't transfer yearly funds or gives them unlimited budget.

Love your reviews Kyle. But the PHEV has or will have the charger port in the back on the left-hand side will it not? That is where it is on the new Range Rover Sport - I have a deposit order down for the BEV version of the Range Rover Sport. I agree I wish it wasn’t 2 years away but available in 2023. Land Rover offer a sustainable interior material called ‘Kvadrat’ in Europe which is a very premium feeling textile. Don’t know if they offer it in the US? Great Video!

Range Rover Sport PHEV has 38 kWh battery and CCS Level 3 charging, right? Not sure if it has AC outlets at high power like 1500W like Outlander PHEV, or not.

recent case study by icct noted that phev's do not get used as often as gov't agencies presumed. not sure why drivers would even purchase such a vehicle if they completely omit its benefits. would be interested to see how a phev of this vehicle would compare to the new xm

Electrification - I complained to JLR that L663 Defender was not launched with a BEV option…………. I gave driven an I-Pace with air springs and Jaguar’s all surface grip system off road and while not as capable as my 2020 First Edition D240 off-road I was amazed what it could do on EV biased road tyres

Is infrastructure really there yet for an adventure off-road capable focused SUV with such a sport capable emphasis to do a full electric power train? I mean there's so many camping and rural areas I'd struggle to even take this to today. There's nothing premium about waiting at a level 2 charger to take your adventures instead of filling up a few bucks of expensive gas in minutes.

I mean Rivian kinda gets a pass as that's their thing showing what electric can offer and they're banking on rapid infrastructure improvements, but there's no doubt the Rivian in many ways is not as capable as this in today's world especially getting out in the wild. Rivian is happy trading that gluttonous capability to demo technology, is that what a Range Rover buyer wants in 2022? I'm not sure I'm there yet.

I’m a huge fan of the RR. I don’t think you can draw too many DNA parallels, the heritage is there but the SUV world has evolved. Here in LA, you see these new one’s EVERYWHERE. They are still status symbols. Arguably, the only SUV with more street presence is Cullinan or G63. I don’t really think the GLS is as much a direct competitor- that’s more a mall crawler and not as much off Road capacity… that being said, folks don’t buy these to go off road. I love the glass in the old one- HUGE!

While we eat meat it is more sustainable to be using the leather. If we stop using the whole animal we are wasting resources and creating a new waste stream problem.

That's true in theory but I don't think most leather for Range Rovers comes from cows that became hamburgers.

Yes LR offers vegan interiors and recycled fabric, but nobody orders/specs out their cars with it. It's available but nobody gets it. Demand and supply....

Great review until about 4:46. Saying that people don't want leather in their luxury cars anymore is such a blinkered thing to say. Enjoying alternative materials is fine, projecting your woke ideology onto car buyers is not. Leather will always be luxury.

The New Range Rover Is dead on arrival. I think its downfall was because it try to compete with the highly technological Cadillac Escalade, which is the king of the road these days. Tata motors tried to fool us with slapped on outdated screen and gimmicky features rather than innovating. It’s crazy how much time has changed in the automotive world. Cadillac has officially dethrone the range rover and that’s a fact.
