As a nerd who went into the Marines, i can confirm getting a haircut, tossed in the shower, and exercising all day leads to drastic and quick weight loss

Hooh boy this was a surprise. Speaking as someone who is on the periphery of furry I can certainly say that I have met the Ash's of the world. Oh my. I also like a few board games so it's a weirdly relatable one. What an epic and it's interesting hearing something different! Edit: I listened to some of this again and I have to say fair play to the guy for admitting he would have done things differently now and that he feels some guilt, it takes courage to upload something like this and to self reflect and say that, there are no heroes here and I feel that these other three felt like they were several tiers in the University Social Ladder above Ash right from the beginning. Even from the tone of this account I can tell this is a mismatched friend group socially. Nick saying he had them all on messengers online and that the other three never met each other in isolation was very telling, in fact I would go as far as to say that Ash was never really Jason and Chloe's friend at all and was only Nick's friend. It sucks, I've been there myself Rosie and Jim bedcover destroyed me though, its a good thing I wasn't drinking a drink when you said that. So unexpected lol. I sometimes smell bullshit in these but I know this is true just from the details of that room description

I'm in said community, but I agree with all of your points. Shame what happened to Ash--wherever he is, I hope he's found some semblance of happiness and peace though.

Your point at around 50 minutes actually felt like someone saying congratulations to me. Whilst I wasn't anywhere as bad as the subject of this story, I pretty much done what you suggested and went from getting out of a pretty toxic relationship and living with my parents to focusing on improving me. Now I have a better job, bought my own house, time to indulge in my hobbies and a new healthy relationship which is almost 2 years down the line. Invest in yourself is the best advice I'd give to anyone.

Speaking as a woman, these guys need to know that nothing ventured is nothing gained. So many otherwise appealing guys get sucked into inceldom because they lack confidence. If you don't have confidence, fake it, take a chance. What's the harm? Taking a chance, faking confidence and having it pay off is the first step to building real confidence.

Yeah, that web comic where the handsome guy flirting is cool and accepted, and the pudgy guy saying “hi” has the lady calling HR. The phrase is “believe all women” not “let’s gather the evidence, investigate things closely and make an unbiased determination of things” You are guilty until proven innocent. And even then, you’re often still guilty.
@funghazi

@ravenRedwake That's what I'm talking about, that's an excuse not to try. There's shitty women out there but we're not monsters. We have different preferences, we're not all golddiggers who'll only pay attention to tens. I adore my nerdy guy and I don't think he's many people's idea of a ten. He had the confidence to shoot his shot and that matters more than you might think.

@funghazi that's awesome for you and your bro, truly happy for you. However in this day and age, guys are told they are toxic for being men, guys go to the gym, get recorded glancing in the wrong direction and get put on blast to the whole world. Yes not all women do this, but it's like a bloody mine field now, you no longer have to just worry about no, or potentially being laughed at, you literally could be plastered all over the internet as some toxic man, it's rare, but enough of a concern that just not tempting fate is a real option.

@TheGarthinator Why the hell would you go to a gym? sSave the money you'd spend on gym fees and get your own weights with it instead. No excuses. SEALs work out on freaking submarines so "nowhere to train", won't cut it. 😊

There's 3 types of bad players: Bad Losers, Bad Winners, and the worst are those that are both. Such will always sneer when something good happens to someone else (even if it is not to their detriment), and always complain when their shiny armor gets a dent. When they lose they may go into tirades "But if this or that had happened, that roll had been this, had I done that other thing instead of what I did, you'd be beaten!" But none of those conjunctives did happen. They are children still, and horrible at roleplaying games too for the aforementioned reasons. I like to play boardgames with people not just for fun, but to get to know that part of them. If they're like this, I'm not gonna waste future time with them, nor trust them with my pocket lint.

In every gaming space IRL and especially online there's always that guy who says you're a tryhard a metagamer or lucky if you win, and a noob if you lose. Honestly there's just no reasoning with it. You can win or lose at the table but in his subjective mind he's still a winner

I've listened to this twice all the way through and I'm hoping Nick comments in here because I actually want to hear some "PS" or additional context lol Him saying that he would have handled it differently now from a mental health perspective and admitting guilt was amazing at the end there. It takes a big man to do that and I have so much respect for that conclusion
@Jethric
@Jethric 8 ай бұрын
I reckon North would have been more stern with Nick if it weren't for the fact that he was so open about his feelings of guilt at the end. If it was 15 years ago then people are allowed to grow and look back at these things and say that they would have done things differently now, and its good that North respected this and didn't ream him. My take is that Nick sounds like he was naive back then and that he let his friends outstetched hand slip without really realising it until years later. Jason sounds like someone who is not my cup of tea. That Nick wrote this with the intention of placing Jason in a good light and yet he still comes across as a cocky prat who thought he was top of the tree is very telling.

Ash sounds like they do have a severe case of Asperger's now Autism Spectrum Disorder. That had gone undiaganosed and treated. It affects people different and his sound like a really extreme example along with a bit of narcisistic tendencies as well. This is coming from someone who has Aspergers as well. When I was an early teen I had situations similar where I would get very entitled about games and salty I am ashamed to admit. But when I was diagnosed with this and explained what it is I got better. I still have the odd moment when I get salty at things here and there but I just take a quick 5 minute break and calm down. Another aspect of this is they need to want to change/improve. If they don't believe they are doing wrong then they will not change sadly.

If this isn't true then Nick needs to write a novel or something. I feel like this is one of those cases where it's too outlandish not to be true. "A Rosie and Jim bedspread on his single bed" 😂😂How on earth did you read most of this with a straight face?

Then I had to explain how I knew what furries are. I’m not convinced she believes me and hopefully she has safesearch turned on if she decides to google it.

Just wanted to say I really enjoy these videos! My gaming group has a good rule for some of this behavior. If you're losing, and instantly become "poopy pantsed" about it, you will be mocked further. If you cant play a game of toy soldiers, or little plastic settlers, and not have a laugh when things dont go your way, thats fine, but probably spend time doing other things.

Welp... i cannot speak to their motivations, but they are people who are really into anthropomorphic beings. Think maybe some people who are really really into wolves or fury animals of some sort that have man like form. Said people meet up in groups and dress up in full body animal costumes/suits. Some of them like to... mingle... vigoruously.

You'd get several different definitions from several different people. But in it's broadest sense a furry is someone who is a big fan (as in, the level of affection that Trekkies, Whovians, Bronies and similar possess) of anthropromorphic characters and beings. Either created original characters from within the community, or from popular culture (Red XIII, Krystal, Fox Mccloud, Disney's Robin Hood etc). I am on the periphery of the community but don't really flaunt the label myself. It's a very large and broad church, filled with everything from the most damning of negative stereotypes to professional MTG artists.

Sounds like a lose, lose situation for all parties involved in the end. Ash probably shouldn't have kept playing if he wasn't enjoying it and Jason went out of his way to light Ashes short fuse. Pretty much summed up the whole interpersonal conflict quiet neatly North, personally I think university is much harder for Americans if their jock culture is anything like it is in the movies. As an Australian I get the feeling we don't inherit their way of sociably elevating ourselves through clubs or houses thereby generating more friction but having attended a rural country towns High School somehow in my year group out of the 40 or less of us still in year 12 who hadn't gone off to train in a trade at least one of us ended up as a bi sexual. To this day at 30 years of age I still haven't the faintest clue how the hell that could've happened.

Even though it isn't games workshop or 40K related, this is one of the best you have been sent. I keep coming back to it I do think that Ash was suffering more than this story lets on though. Reading between the lines it sounds like something like alcohol and homesickness may have been a factor along with unsocialised autism. In fact I'm willing to bet any money that the guy was drunk when he sent that email to Chloe
