I like the sketch but I’m confused. Is it a free cruise or is it a scam? She just might not be in on it. Maybe, she should look into that? Or whoever the interviewer is, if they’re a reporter or documentarian could do some digging. I think I might be interested in a sequel. Though this was pre-Covid. Things are a bit different now. “When she said maybe they’re afraid of the...,” the first word that popped into my head was “virus.” I think even scammers would have changed tactics by now. Cruising would be pretty risky now a days.

@@Metorks SNL uses little modern natural acting, and is in gaudy and slapstic. It's not inferior, it's just their brand (though I do find their reliance on sex jokes a little low tbh). Julie Nolke's brand is different. In the videos I've seen, her humor is much more about realistically playing out situations with imagined characters at a higher production value. I'd love to see her create and/or star in a show, but I think SNL wouldn't let her give what she has to offer.

She does such a good job that if you haven't seen her do something else it's hard to tell if something is an act or not. Situations escalate past plausibility but by then you like the characters. This poor southern gal needs a hug for the way they treat her. Kind of makes me feel bad for the real call center folks I've been pissy to.

I work for a company that does actually give away cruises on occasion as a reward for buying our travel products (we do cruises too), and we’ve had that problem in the past. You have to start up a normal conversation first and give context as to exactly what’s going on, who you are and why they won but some people don’t believe it until we post them the cruise tickets/info 😂

When I was doing a pharmacy school rotation with an insurance company, I had to help call patients to see how certain meds were working for them and would offer to get the pharmacy to fill for them. EVERYONE though it was a scam 😂 I hated doing the calls because people would be so mean to me, when I really was trying to just help. The one that hurt the most was a pharmacist I called that yelled at me for it. I was like I’m a student pharmacist dude, don’t you know what I’m doing? Lol I feel for Lillian

I did not think these things were real either until my husband and his mom took a trip to China for $1 each, no joke. Of course they spent thousands on excursions, food, and shopping once there. That's how they get you I guess. Who wants to fly all the way to China just to sit on a tour bus for 10 days? Lol

I’ve been on a trip like this. They take you to tour a factory (jade, silk, etc) and at the end is the high pressure sales pitch. Most of the factories were state-owned so I’m sure the Chinese government funds some of this

I guess that makes it more like a big corporation where the central government is upper management and at the same time, you can't opt out unless you emigrate to another country. We have many millions of such people here in America (and lots of other countries I guess).
