Also going to msconfig and checking the box, settings a number of processors in the drop menu, you might want to undo that if you try it, so keep it in mind. You'll notice in AMD software, it shows your cores and threads are cut in half... I don't know about this guide... My PC works best without this. Oh and always set a restore point before trying any of these suggestions online. Maybe for some people they work, maybe you run into an issue. It can put you in a frustrating situation, get very confusing if you're not at all familiar with these settings.

A major fact he forgot is to tweak the services. As most of the processes are window processes so disabling the services you don't need will reduce your processes by a lot. Currently having 65 processes btw.

For people who dont know what hardware accelerated gpu scheduling is, it basicly takes loads off the cpu and computes it on the gpu, so basicly if you have a stronger gpu than cpu, you want to turn it on, if not then turn it off

@@rwieber79 it depends on what games you're playing. if you notice it making your performance worse then just turn it off. an example is valorant. if you have gpu scheduling enabled on windows 11, whenever you alt tab out of valorant your pc will freeze and crash.

I guess my question is really are my CPU and GPU evenly matched or is the GPU more powerful where the scheduling would be helpful to take some of the workload off the CPU? I will say I see my gpu at 100% utilization sometimes but I've never seen my CPU anywhere near it when I'm playing so I'm assuming this wouldn't really help with my current system. I only play at 1080P anyway due to my monitor so I get plenty of fps on the games I play even with the setting pretty much maxed out. I'm just trying to learn as much as I can being new to PC gaming so I have a better understanding of how to get the best results and where to upgrade in the future.

@rwieber79 yeah absolutely your CPU and GPU are evenly matched, a great combo I'd say. They're both great for 1080p gaming on high-ultra settings. Whether to turn GPU scheduling on or off it comes down to you, you need to test it for yourself. Me personally I keep it off I don't see any gains from it from the games I play. For your future upgrade path, judging by the way you play your games, you like them to have maxed out graphics and I don't play simulator games like ETS2 and ATS, but from the forums I've read they're GPU intensive. So my best advice would be to upgrade your GPU first then CPU. Maybe you can get a good new 1440p lineup cards that are coming next year or the previous gens (Nvidia 40 series or amd 7000 series after the new gen launch next year) because the prices will absolute go down 👍

The High and ultra Performance plan are soooo useless because your CPU runs anytime at max GHz. Example: 3.2 ghz base and 5 GHz boost. The CPU runs anytime on 5 GHz. Have fun with your electic Bill. On Balanced takes your PC what he needs. I dont know what the ultra Performance plan also does but same shit as high Performance plan.
