I've got the roborock s 5502-00, honeslty I couldnt be more happy with it, it gets everything and is quick and quiet, but then again I dont have any any carpets filled with sand in my house. I belive the only reason it got so much of the sand is cause it spent so much time in one spot. I can for example put my vacuum to do up to 3 complete dustings in the same spot I chose on the app. I assume this feature was not used in this video since there were little to no information about them.

When I was a kid my parents got this and its battery went bad. I found it in the corner, took out the battery, wired a long wire coming out of the vacuum, and connected it to 2 12v SLA batterys. Hours and hours of kid cleaning fun until it died 2 weeks later due to over voltage. (Something around 16v, I was pushing around 24) It cleaned hella good though. I was impressed.

I purchased that original Roomba for my mother when they came out. She laughed at me because she is that type A super clean house person and she didn’t think it would clean very well. It sat for a month or two but one day I came in from the gym and she had it in her hands and was behaving like a little schoolgirl asking me to repair some little thing that had come loose on the dust bin. She was so excited because she had discovered that her days of bending over or getting on her knees to clean underneath the furniture was over!! Since then I have kept her up dated with the newer models. We still have that original version though as you never know I might need it for spare parts.

Other competitors... not really. Can't compare a brand name with those Chinese knockoffs that are for sale in ebay or amazon under $150.... but you can compare it to Neato which is another real brand when it comes to robot vacuums, or Samsung, LG, Xiaomi...

I still own a working original Roomba. The biggest problem with it has been the side brush. If it gets caught in a rug tassel or power cord it tends to twist and die. They are expensive to replace. Other wise it has been pretty terrific. I now own a Roborock s4 and love it.

My 2002 just stopped working this year...RIP. But I still have the I Robot red model with the one button (Clean) and very large capacity bin. It is still a work horse not ready to be put out to pasture just yet.

I just bought a 2002 new/old stock for $60. Lol...I got it for our cats to ride on. I am pretty impressed with how well it cleans the floor. I run it at least twice a day.

A little story. Few years ago found original roomba in dust. Just for fun replaced battery and charge circuit to LiIon (which gave 4+ hours). It performed pretty well until one of drive motors died :( Replaced it with modern “$200 class” vacuum and it gotta say the only thing which is better comparing to original roomba is having remote.

I compare the 400 series to the 700 series and have found they pretty much do the same job without (of course) the more modern roomba's price... I ave had 10 going at once (have to find that video..lol) - different models and brands to clean a BIG hall, and they all did a pretty good job..
