I have 2 non Infinum 6260 heads. Got the 2nd one from Sweetwater when they had them forsale for $250. What I did with mine is changed the preamp tube in the v1 until I got the sound I was happy with. Ended up with a Yugoslavia 12ax7. Watched a KZbin video of Friedman tweaking a Randall head with George Lynch. George Lynch had these Yugoslavia 12ax7 preamp tubes he liked. Tightened it up and made it more focused. So I got 2 of them. It worked .

I like to run my 6262 with an MXR in the effects loop to emulate the resonance, and sometimes it sounds better than my 6505 or EVH. There is a really clean saturation that sounds great.

I have two first gen 6260's. Both are modded with a resonance pot on the back of the amp. Took about 15 minutes to install, I just did it when I had the chassis out to bias them. I didn't even pull the pcb board to remove the resistor, I just jumpered it. It's really easy to do, the resonance is already there.

I own the 6262 and still love it. I had the 6505+ for over ten years, but decided to go the axe fx route and the 6262 came up for sale so it allows me to ahve some tube goodness when I need it or don't want to play the axe fx. Never had an issue with it and runs great. Noisey bastard, but sounds killer.

Just got it back from a full service 355AUD, 4 of 6 preamp tubes were replaced & now it breathes fire, i love the outta control gain. I run it through a 16ohm 2x12 and a 16ohm 1x15 , sounds farkn huge... I use the lead channel for my rhythm and a EHX Soul Food in the loop for solo boost

sounds better than I was expecting. IIRC Santiago Alvarez who’s been at Marshall a number of years was involved on several of the Bugera amps. Obviously designing for Behringer has different constraints but he knows his stuff. Would love to see gut shots inside the amps of these comparisons, often it can be an important factor as far as reliability/how easy it is to service/price etc. Some cheap amps are built quite nice and some expensive ones are surprisingly bad so it’s interesting to see and factor in on a review IMO

The Bugera amps I’ve seen are genuinely pretty well built. I think the affordability comes from extremely cheap components like resistors, capacitors etc. The chassis and circuit board layout seem to be pretty well thought out

I will say this; the Bugera 6262 Infinium sounds really good if you have a guitar loaded with EMG's passive HZ pickup set. They're naturally lower output, like super low output. However, when boosted with a tube screamer and the gain turned up to either around 4 or 6, it sounds super tight, and it makes for a perfect combination.

I dug my 1st gen 6260 recently...lead channel is ridiculously high gain, exactly as you say shines on crunch with a boost. However, I tried it with an sss strat and I'm amazed how usable all channels are. Seem almost like it's calibrated for lower output pickups. The reverb didn't sound that bad either 🤘😎🤘 Cool video man!

I've had this for +7 years now. Not a single problem so far with it. 808 to the front and it's a badass metal sound you get. Nice mids also. I actually think it tries to blend some Mesa into the sound as well so I wouldn't say it's purely a 5150 copy. But opinions, opinions. Great amp.

I like my 6262 NOT infinium. Bought it last summer and the amp is from around 2008. also the previous owner said it has never had any issues. There are JJ tubes in it now and I paid 100€ for it which is like 115$. So not a bad deal.
@countzero5150

The pre infinium stuff was the best in my opinion. I am not on board with the self biasing design of the infiniums. I have a first generation 6260 that right now is jj 6l6s biased at around 68%. I wanted to get a 6262 but after looking at the gut shots/schematics of the infiniums, it's just not something I feel confident I could easily repair if it breaks and let's be honest here, sooner or later all amps break. Whether it's the caps reaching the end of their lifespan, or a tube goes and takes out a screen grid resistor with it. If I found one that was cheap enough I might be tempted to buy it just to see if I could convert it to an adjustable bias and get rid of the infinium circuit entirely. Like the b52 at-100s and mesa triple rectifiers, the 6260 is billed as a poor man's 5150 but it sort of has its own thing going. It isn't better or worse than a 5150/6505, it just comes down to what sound you're after.

If someone wonders: You can play it with 2x12 v30 at 4am (even in a small flat) and it actually sounds amazing (dual rectifier style) I was a little/ or maybe even more disappointed when I have opened up the volume later that day and it was much much brighter... lol/ But still, no master volume, no attenuator needed. It actually is almost exactly the same as my Marshall DSL1 in terms of volume and it sounds godly before the valves open up (the irony of it...)/ So yea... There's literally no reason not to pick up any big boy beasts, unless their volume knobs suck. 6262 infinium on my end; knobs feel very solid and easily controllable. I can easily set it @ 85db and below; whisper volume and it sounds as I have mentioned before, absolutely massive lol/ It's big and heavy @+-21 kg, looks fantastic/ For recording, I would go modellers, plugins, etc. for the ease, convenience and versatility but for practice and fun? Nothing else gives me personally so much fun. Actually almost everything digital after a while kills my will to play... I prefer the sound from modellers/plugins but it just rubs me in a wrong way, annoys and ultimately make dissatisfied with playing... go figure... I just wish the 6262 sounded as fat as before you open up the volume knob. I honestly thought I have finally found the amp of my dreams when I first played it super early in the morning... I still like it but... this is not what I've fallen in love with in the first place/. Actually I think the tone might be still there but I run my amps the worst way... all (except for gain and volume and reverb) at noon. I have fiddled with knobs and I think it was rather easy to actually make it very similar but my o.c.d. and probably other sh1te won't really let me set it this way lol I just need something naturally fat and muffled. Yea... I am messed up/ But still can't get my head round the fact that the amp sounds absolutely massive, full and bassy at super low volume and then brightens up a lot. But as I have said, equalisation knobs are very responsive and you can easily shape the tone you want. I still have a few days to make up my mind what to do with it. So far, two things bother me: 1. the footswitch is not available to buy anymore; when it craps out... you lose your channel switching ability and you cannot really substitibe it without anything else wildly available 2. I think a spring or preamp shield was rattling while standing on my 2x12 directly. It is supported with kitchen sponges now and the problem is gone but still... 3. When moving out... There's no way I am taking it with me lol... same for my 2x12; just too big and too heavy. But I would definitely buy 4x12 and big arse amp again if I had my own house/flat and didn't have a threat of being forced to move out. The magic of owing a 100 and above full valve amp is definitely real. The look of it alone is making me want to keep it...

The resonance is in the circuit. It's basically set to like noon or 11 o clock internally. You can't adjust it due to patents. I guess I don't really see the issue because it's one of those things that has a sweet spot and you don't want it maxed and you don't want it off.

This was the thing that confused me about the Bugera amps over a decade ago. Back then you could buy a 5150 for $500-600. I know because I owned three at once. The 5150 was a well proven amp by that point. Now the Peavey 5150's are like most stuff =expensive. First one was a '92 block letter (no difference between it and my '96 version-don't believe the hype). The best 5150 Peavey I ever heard was the combo version plugged into a 4x12. It was more aggressive than any of my head versions. I believe the issue with the Bugera amps was a certain connecter would burn out to the board. And it was very common.

And I got it, and the Transformer blew in 2 days. But I loved the sound so much, I went ahead and bought a new 6262 Infinium model from Sweetwater, and that died on me in 3 days, (two days before a show) and it had the same issue. The Quality wasn’t there. They sounded amazing, but I quit, and bought a 6505+. I also had a friend who used a non infinium 6262 for three years and it never died on him, and I had a friend who used the Trirec Infinium for about 9 months, and it died on him, Mid Show, Mid Song at random. Cardboard...that frequency that appeared when James Brown began hot-rodding the Peavey VTM120 based prototype that would later become the 5150 EVH120 and they worked very hard to get away, and out of that process, grew the tone of the 5150...lower efficiency speakers would better this problem, like G12M25 or G12H30 greenbacks, or Eminence/Peavey Blue Marvel for a more mellow hi-range

Biggest failing for Bugera is that every one I have played always seem to have a spikey top end and squishy/fizzy distortion. However, I really like them, with enough knob tweaking it is a very serviceable amp. In 30 years everyone will want one for that BOOTEEK sound. That weird feedback sounded like one of the preamp tubes was going out or shaking. Then again, spikey highs and squishy gain.

Almost everky video I see is some guy showing off his speed with a ton of distortion. I understand that a lof of the players today want that because it fits the music they play. But for us old octogenarians couldn't you have a small section where you show the clean tones you can get so we can see if the amp is usable for us.

With the resonance mod this amp rips!

I think it sounded just fine I would be worried about how repairman-friendly it is though I mean if it costs 600 bucks to fix it might as well just get a real 5150 in the first place. it would be the perfect thing if you only play metal once in a blue moon kinda thing though ya know? and you know I see all these crazy expensive distortion pedals for like $300.00 why bother with that when you can buy a whole amp for $300. LOL idk

The Peavey XXL is more of the 5150 then that amp
@belligerentamateur
@belligerentamateur 2 жыл бұрын
Can't say I agree. The XXL is a solid state Ultra circuit, where as this is a rip of the 5150 circuit.

@donsmith5385 2 жыл бұрын
@@belligerentamateur ha ha the Ultra circuit is just part of the XXL, I can’t really say the Bugera is a rip since they are made in Berhinger city right along side with all Peavey amps.

You talk too fast, inarticulate, and don’t have a clue on how to set the tone on a tube amp! Slow down, take some time, figure the amp out on your own before you make a video exposing your lack of knowledge! Just saying
