Omg you are a genius!!! I was just trying to brush up on things I have forgotten but you are showing me things that have never been explained. You show way more depth. Your mural of clouds on ceiling with the reds and yellows popping blue sky. Amazing and you are the king of water. You definitely make everyone a better painter. You made me realize how I have limited myself to a certain way of painting because it's the way I was shown. But now my mind is expanded to create how I want not follow a pattern. I am so inspired, empressed and thankful I came across your work! And you are so humble. You are a Genius!

I did my first mural this past week, still doing it actually, in my daughter’s room. I’ve been watching these videos constantly the past few weeks. Once I started painting, just feeling it and everything, i had the idea to try one of my work brushes (makeup artist). It was so perfect!! Between Joe’s technique w his brush suggestion, mu brushes, and blending with my fingers, I’m beyond pleased with the results I’m seeing!! Makeup brushes are so different. Shape, size, density, etc.. if you’re still looking, try some if you haven’t already 😊

Try a makeup brush. There are highlighter brushes that are wispy like that. Or trim a fluffy brush randomly to see what you get?

For me what works it's a dish square shape scrubber. Half top fiber bristle, half bottom sponge.cut 1 preferred corner to round corner. Start slow and light paint.also tile installers sponge. This stuff it's great for clouds.also wear rubber gloves. It gets messy. In painting some projects, it's faster then roller and cutting combined

You could try a mop make-up brush. The soft, fluffy round ones, then cutting it up so the hairs are different lengths. Also walk into a craft/art store. You will find all sorts of fuzz and hairy stuff you can glue to a stick and use. Those fluff balls people shower with make nice textures, too.

I use a 1 inch, thick house paint brush, get it really wet I mean soak it. Then put the handle between your palms and spin it like you're going to start a fire with a stick. This blows out the bristles everywhere. However once it has paint in it spin inside a 5 gal bucket or paint spatters everywhere. Lol bigger brushes work great too.

Excellent! Here is an idea. Make a fuzzy stick: wooden dowel, duck tape and fur scrap. No stuffed animals will be harmed. I like using sea sponges also. Thank you for inspiring me!
@amberdawn47592 ай бұрын
The wispies are achieved better without water. Use the paint to make the blend not water stretching out the paint. Not to mention the mess and dripping that water brings... Also your blue is way to strong and that changes the look of the clouds. You can get perfect results you just need to fine tune your brush strokes and use no water. Sometimes a small mist from a tiny spray bottle. There is also less depth when you add water. I painted skys for 18 years...your problem is mixing your colors and using a good brush. Use only purdy brushes. The more used and nasty and caked eith pai t that brush is the better.

Why not simply take a large wide brush and manually cut the bristles to thin them out and maybe attach some of those hair fibers to the sides of the brush to blend in with the regular bristles to create your own "cloud" tool?

hmmmm. I use a wet natural sponge that has real ragged edges. In order to get it to work, I have it quite damp, but not soggy. And to get different shapes, I turn it all different ways, and then squeeze it at different points to change the shapes. Works for me! Your way is funnier though = )
