I liked the version of Ragdoll who appeared in "The Batman." They made him a fun and slightly goofy character who is still a formidable opponent. One difference between the original Ragdoll, who was an opponent of The Flash (Jay Garrick), and the Ragdoll who appeared in the Secret Six is that that Ragdoll had his joints replaced with artificial joints to give him the double jointed ability like of his Father. The problem was that he needed to take a drug to keep his joints working and without them his joints would tear themselves apart. This is how Mockingbird (Lex Luthor) kept him under control. He basically had something on each member of The Secret Six to control them, just like the original Mockingbird.

The second ragdoll has a more brutal backstory Ragdoll Jr is the son of ragdoll sr, his father was disappointed that his son didn't have his father's triple jointed flexibility. He was shunned and basically disowned by him, so he spent various years willingly having his bones removed and replaced by fully jointed prosthetics by dollmaker (the same guy that surgically removed joker's face), however, it worked. He was as flexible as his father. He also developed a deadly inferiority complex. Killing anyone, hero or villain, that steals the spotlight away from him

My only beef with this episode was the Cat's Eye Emeralds. Real emeralds are very soft (for stones) and terribly sensitive; you can actually ruin a good emerald ring by forgetting it to take it off doing the dishes. For those stones to have survived, undamaged, for all those years inside the gearworks of the clocktower, they couldn't have been emeralds. They were more likely green diamonds; yes, those do exist. They occur in nature when the superheated, pressurized carbon is exposed to intense radiation during the formation process.

Thank you for doing this. Ragdoll is a character that means a lot to me - I saw his first ep and was IMMEDIATELY in love. He's exactly the kind of character I adore - I tend to gravitate toward the members of a Rogues Gallery that are a bit sillier, more fun-loving, and theatrical than the rest of the roster (see also: the version of Mysterio in Spectacular Spider-Man). I love how in-depth you went on how UNFLAPPABLE and constantly amused he is! I remember trying to look into his comics origins afterward, and I didn't actually read any in full (lemme know if I should), but I was surprised to find out that the original WAS so dark and twisted, and that his son who took up the mantle was a borderline hero. I wanted to see if I could use material from the comics to bolster my interp of the one from the show, but there was very little I could use outside of the odd trivia. I almost feel like this Ragdoll is meant to be a midpoint between both Peter Merkels, senior and junior. But I can't say what went on in the writers' room during his genesis. He's sneaky and evil, but he's got standards. One thing I wish we'd gotten more of is a look at his interactions with the other members of Team Penguin, especially Firefly. Okay, I'm going to be transparent and admit that I am a fanfic writer and I ship them. BUT. I'm going to try to take that out of the equation because I think there are some really interesting comparisons to draw between the two regardless. On a surface level, I love that they seem to have a friendship where they're on the same page a lot about things like taunting Moth. But then I think about how Ragdoll is the unfazed fun guy of the gallery, and I think of that in comparison to Firefly. Firefly TRIES to be a similar fun-loving showman of a villain, and the first episode, where he's just doing arson on GothCorp's payroll, shows that when he's left to his own devices, he's pretty good at this. But two of his major episodes deal with his snarky persona being interrupted by events that are less than ideal. He IS fazed by these things, and it seems at odds with the persona he's trying to put up of being the snarky, egotistical fire guy. The first is the team-up with Freeze, where he tries to be as playful with Freeze as he later gets on Team Penguin, only for Freeze to not have the time for his shenanigans and actually friendly-fire him during the big battle. The second, of course, is "White Heat," in which an irreversible mutation leaves Firefly unable to live his life in any normal fashion and drives him to only want to destroy Gotham (and, by implication, himself). He absolutely starts out that ep trying to be the fun guy again, and then, by the end, he's gone full nihilist because he literally can't exist without destroying whatever he touches. And what draws me to his friendship with Ragdoll in Team Penguin, even if only on a "friendship" level, is that I think there was a lot of potential to be explored between the guy who is fazed by nothing vs. the guy who tries to be fazed by nothing and is abused by the world. And for what it's worth, while the physical cameos in Rumors are fun, what actually gets to me about that episode is that Batman confirms that Ragdoll, Firefly, and Moth were all three taken at the same time, meaning they were working together for a second heist. Specifically Ragdoll, Firefly (the guy he pals around with), and Moth (the guy who he and Firefly mutually roast and can by extension be considered part of that friendship). There could have been some really interesting interactions that went on between those three. Final thoughts: Jeff Bennett is a master at the craft of voice acting. I love just about every role he's done, and I love even more that he has the range to have performed a wide variety of roles with different connotations. What always gets me is that he also plays the Huntsman in American Dragon: Jake Long (another of my favorite villains). That character is the polar opposite of Ragdoll when it comes to villainy - stoic, scary, and relentlessly cruel. And Jeff makes them BOTH work extremely well. I think you could hand that man a script for literally anything and he'd turn out an unforgettable performance packed with character.
@-Ughly-17 күн бұрын

This rule was put in place after the first 12 issues with the Joker where at the end of each issue the Joker appeared to die only to come back in the next issue. Batman and the police’s inability to catch and permanently punish a dangerous spree killer made them look incompetent, so after 12 issues the rule was created and the Joker was caught, tried, executed, and later revived by his men. However when he revived he was no longer a spree killer he was a dangerous practical joker who used a type of gas to make people laugh. I found out this villian was a flash's villian, but i like this version of ragdoll and he fits way better with Batman. I never understood why he only appered on two episodes.

@@rafaelbrites3607 THANK YOU! Literally couldn't agree more. He's a Golden Age Flash villain, I believe, but he does fit WAAAAY better as a Batman villain. Especially this depiction, yeah. And I really wish he was used more than he was, 'cause he had such flair to him hah

@@-Ughly-it makes sense because unlike the other Flash Rogues who have powers to counter the Flash, Ragdoll doesn’t really have anyway out running or even countering the Flash in anyway.

This show introduced me to many characters that I never even knew existed. Ragdoll being one of them. I really liked what they did with him in the show but I think they needed to make him a more serious character instead of him just playing around imo. Because he could've been a serious threat to Gotham.
